Sewell is in his second stint coaching at BSU, having served as the defensive backs coach in 2004. Sewell also played for BSU's Bulldogs under former Prairie View A&M, Bowie State and N.C. Damon Wilson is in his 11th year at the helm of the Bowie State University football program. Wilson, who was an all-conference tight end for the Bulldogs (1998), did his first tour of duty as an assistant coach from 1999-2003. As the Assistant Head Coach (Running Backs and Special Teams Coordinator) during those years, BSU's special teams and running game consistently ranked at the top of the conference. During Wilson's first run at Bowie State, the Bulldogs combined an overall record of 26-24 and they were able to bring home a CIAA Eastern Division Championship in 2002.Led by reigning CIAA Coach of the Year Damon Wilson, Bowie State finished 2019 with an 11-1 overall record (7-0 in the CIAA) with their lone loss coming in the first round of the NCAA Division II playoffs against Carson-Newman. Fayetteville State, coached by Richard Hayes, also posted a 6-1 conference record (8-3 overall), finishing 10th in Super Region Two for the second straight year in 2019.The 2021 team features 21 returning players from the 2019 All-CIAA team, including 12 first-teamers, led by Bowie State quarterback Ja'Rome Johnson, Bowie State defensive back Demetri Morsell, and Virginia Union placekicker Jefferson Souza. Daja Marie is an American Singer, Songwriter, Rapper. Her career began when she discovered her writing abilities in 2007. She went on to record her first single and perform her first show in Indiana where she was born and raised. In 2015 she decided to take her talents to Atlanta, GA. After being on tour for years and receiving such a great welcoming feedback with her single “Bankrolls Like Monopoly” in the city she felt it was only right to make the move. In support of her last single "Raindrops," and her previous single "Bankrolls Like Monopoly," Daja Marie co-headlined the "Go Hard or Go Home" national tour which launched in New York, NY. She joined Silkk The Shocker, Bianca Bonnie, Talone, and Dricky Graham rocking the stage. "Raindrops", available at all digital retailers and streaming services, impacted radio and topped digital radio charts. Daja Marie has graced the stage in a packed house at the legendary Stankonia Studios alongside Nigel Stargate, Keith Robinson, and friends. Currently Daja is promoting the release of her single “Closet Freakk” on all major platforms off her soon to release self-titled EP.
