Get ready, because this week in The Coop, we've got the one-and-only—Uzo Aduba. You know her as the unforgettable Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren from Orange is the New Black, but Uzo's story is so much bigger than her iconic characters. Her new book, The Road is Good, dives into a life filled with resilience, joy, and the unstoppable strength and spunk she inherited from her mother.Growing up as a Nigerian-American in a Boston suburb, Uzo faced challenges fitting in but learned to embrace her identity (and gorgeous tooth gap), thanks to her mother's wisdom and love. Her mom's lessons—like insisting people learn her name instead of changing it—taught Uzo about self-worth and pride. Uzo nearly walked away from acting, but on the very day she quit, she got the call for Orange is the New Black and life's trajectory took a powerful, joyful turn.Oh, and did we mention Uzo is a classically trained opera singer, former figure skater, AND a track star? Holy talent, people. This episode is packed with joy, grit, and laughs as we explore staying true to your roots, and your Mama. So, trust the stage—let the universe do its thing—and join us in The Coop for this unforgettable and heartfelt conversation with Uzo Aduba.--This episode was produced by Kit Hoover and Harper McDonald. This week, Drewby and Yergy head to Florida once again to discuss the case of infamous family annihilator, Ronnie O'Neal. Once a community activist, Ronnie snapped after falling victim to a random drive by shooting. Although he was separated from his wife, Kenyatta, at the time, she welcomed him back into their home once he was released from the hospital as he had nowhere to go. The couple shared two children - Ron' Niveya, who had cerebral palsy, and Ronnie IV, whom they called "Little Ronnie." March 18th, 2018, several 911 calls were placed from the couple's suburban neighborhood - two of which were from Kenyatta and Ronnie. That evening, Ronnie shot his estranged wife and bludgeoned her to death with the gun in their neighbor's yard. He then went back into the home and hacked his wheelchair-bound daughter to death in front of his young son, who was hiding in the kitchen. He then turned his attention on Little Ronnie, stabbing him nearly to death before setting the house ablaze. There was just one problem with Ronnie's plan... his son lived to testify against him in court, where Ronnie gained notoriety for his courtroom antics. Uzo Aduba is an actress best known for her roles in television shows like Netflix's Orange Is The New Black and Hulu's Mrs. America, but her talents extend beyond the screen and into the kitchen, where she deftly cooks up the Nigerian staples she was raised on in Boston's outer suburbs.Throughout her childhood, Uzo and her siblings learned to cook alongside their mother, who taught them how to create Nigerian dishes like jollof and fufu. Although she loved her mother's delicious food, at times Uzo also felt embarrassed by it; like many immigrant children, she faced probing questions from the other kids at the lunch table. But it was her mother's persistent encouragement that helped Uzo celebrate her Nigerian heritage, and a special red hot recipe for red stew that connects her to it. Hosted on Acast. Uzo Ekwue, co-manager of the Schroder British Opportunities Trust, gives an update on performance, the investment strategy and the current 30% discount to the market. Uzo emphasises the trust's focus on both private and public assets, particularly in the mid and small-cap space, and tells us why they see a mispricing of private assets due to market sentiment. We touch on examples within the portfolio, illustrating the range of size, mergers and acquisitions in the UK and ultimately the exciting opportunity for investors to be a part of the strong growth potential of the trust's underlying assets. What's covered in this episode: What caused the trust to trade at a discount of around 30%How negative market sentiment influenced the share priceThe trust's mispricing, in particular private assets, explainedWhat is needed to change sentiment around the UK? The evolution of the trust's exposure to private assetsWhat is a “beat and raise” phase for marketsThe focus on small and mid-caps, with examples of Bytes Technology and Judges Scientific M&A activity in the UKWhy now is a good entry point into UK equitiesMore about the trust:The Schroder British Opportunities trust (SBOT) aims to take advantage of the less popular reputation of UK equities, through investing in both private and public assets. The managers focus on companies that have faced difficult situations. The trust's portfolio includes 30 to 50 smaller and medium-sized businesses, both public and private, that need more investment. We think this trust is in a good position to benefit from the attractive prices of UK stocks and to help strong UK companies that face tough challenges.Learn more on fundcalibre.comPlease remember, we've been discussing individual companies to bring investing to life for you. There's something inspiring about talking to someone who's really about it. They have a vision and though its not super clear how it comes to life, one day at a time, they bring it to fruition. From Apollo to Joint and Jams, Uchenna is a guy imposing his will on the world while also having fun with it. This episode was recorded back in November of 2021 when we all came to ATL for Davido. It also happened to be my birthday weekend. We get into topics like being the firstborn in an Igbo household, Dallas nightlife, dating, and having a sense of style. Don't let his deep voice scare you, Uchenna is actually a sweetheart. Enjoy the episode. RadioUzo: radio_uzo (insta) Uzo: @dubonde (twitter) Uchenna: @uxchenna (insta)
Uzo Nzeogu, a talented artist who studied Fine and Applied Arts at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka with greats like Bruce Onobrakpeya and El Anatsui seemed all set to claim his place as a fine artist. But then, he did the maths, ditched paint and chose pragmatism. Pragmatism led him to Newswatch, to Dele Giwa, to Ray Ekpu, to Dan Agbese and to 'the happiest time of my life'. The newsroom rush, the boardroom manoeuvring, the tragic, shocking murder of Dele Giwa, Uzo was in the thick of it.In this episode, we discuss:Pragmatism and paying the bills. The halcyon days of Nigerian news magazines. There but the love of God and barely dodging the bomb. The Nigerian war and PTSD.IPOB and the lessons of Rwanda. To repatriate or not to, Uzo has a view. And choosing to ditch the Nigeria project.... and here we agree to disagree.Nope, no jokes in this episode but Uzo admits to listening to BIL podcast. In this podcast, Maddy talks to Uzo Ehiogu, a physiotherapist, lecturer and strength and conditioning coach, about lower limb injuries in climbing. With an increasing amount of information about injuries in climbing, we find ourselves swimming in content focused on the upper body (shoulders, elbows, fingers). This is understandable given the nature of climbing, however, it can lead us to neglect the lower body when it comes to understanding injuries and strength development. The lower body plays a huge role in tension in climbing and in this podcast Uzo discusses:The common lower limb injuries in climbingThe mechanisms of injury in the lower body when climbingDifferences between approaching acute and chronic injuriesHow to approach rehabilitation back to full strengthDifferences between lower limb injuries in climbing compared to other sports such as footballMethods for developing strength for heel hooks after injury (or before!)Uzo is the lead clinician at Inside Edge Physiotherapy, a physiotherapy clinic for climbers based in Birmingham (UK) at the Depot Climbing Centre: https://www.insideedgephysio.com.Uzo is also an author and co-author of book chapters in The Shoulder Theory and Practice (High performance rehabilitation for the climbing athlete), and Climbing Medicine - A practical guide (Chapter 21 Injury prevention, Chapter 20 Climbing rehabilitation). And if you enjoyed those reads, then also take a look at his peer reviewed journals on climbing injuries and speed climbing training: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33189522/ https://journals.lww.com/nsca-scj/Abstract/9900/Strength_and_Conditioning_Considerations_for_Speed.40.aspx.The Lattice jingle is brought to you by Devin Dabney, music producer of the outdoor industry who also hosts the American Climbing Project.

How una dey? It's your favorite consistently inconsistent yet unproblematic podcast host, Uzo. We're back with yet another banger. This episode is the one you want to wash dishes to or something to keep you occupied while you do that one chore you extremely hate. I begin by presenting the new direction for Radio Uzo and how it's less of a "How to" podcast and more of a space to navigate my 20s and share what lessons, tragedies, and perspectives I have on this wild ride we call life. Hopefully the more specific, the more universal it becomes. On this particular episode, we discuss topics such as: Thot shorts Summertime as adults Watering your own garden Tired Mental health discussions Nigerian political climate TV shows I'm interested Shoutouts
Attachmennts, emotional attachments if you will! This episode was a long time coming and bringing Trevor(@ganoke_ada) on here was intentional

I've loved fashion, art and BE-YOUTY ever since I was young, and I knew right away that I wanted to combine these passions and pursue makeup artistry. I've nurtured my keen eye for detail training with well-known celebrity makeup artists including, Francois Nars, Uzo, Trish McEvoy, Peter Philips and Lucia Pica, and my love of makeup artistry has taken me all over the world. I've spent the last 16 years traversing the U.S., Canada and Europe, and traveling is another passion that I plan to pursue more. My goal is to connect with all types of creative individuals from all over the world as I build on my extensive portfolio. I also specialize in One on One consultations, Red Carpet Glam and the list can go on and on. Now I live in the Big Apple, NYC. I love helping people feel BE-YOUTIFUL and showcase their inner BE-YOUTY through makeup. I know there are a plethora of talented makeup artist out there. However, what makes me different is my attention to detail, my precise application techniques on how -to enhance features on the face & of course my expertise in finding the right look that is perfect for you. (everyone can do make up, but is it perfect?) Let's connect! I can't wait to work with you. Welcome back to the show! On this episode of Allow Me to Reintroduce Myself, Michael and Kareese are joined by the fabulous Uzo Ngwu! A sophomore at Harvard College, Uzo works heavily with 2D illustration and has begun expanding her talents to include digital animation (you can see an animation she did for a class final project on her twitter @uzotheartist. It's amazing!). She was an absolute dream to talk to and filled us in on all the beautiful parts of her journey as an artist and how she has grown as a person! Michael informs us about prominent Black artists and their work in landscape, while Uzo gives us insight into her recent pursuit of art, not as a hobby, but as a career. It was a marvelous first interview for the us two, and we hope you enjoy!
