Pour cet épisode de la saison 2 de Hip-Hop Story, nous avons retracé la carrière d'un groupe qui fait figure d'ovni dans le paysage rap en France ! En effet, Yannick a souhaité retracer la carrière du groupe Hocus Pocus, dont les membres sont originaires de Nantes. Il est ainsi revenu sur leurs début dans les années 90 à leurs plus grands succès, qu'ils ont connu au cours de la décennie 2000-2010. On ne veut pas se faire medium et on peut lucidement commenter que le chemin à parcourir est encore long, cependant les cinq morceaux de Draw An End confirme la matière intéressante et homogène qui se degage de ce jeune homme, lequel joue habilement de l'intimité de la folk et de la puissance de l'electro, une combinaison gagnante associée à sa voix. Lui cite Chet Faker, on peut surencherir par moment en pensant à Joe Newman le chanteur d'Alt-J. Ce timbre aigre-doux est valorisé sur ce tout premier EP par les arrangements d'un certain beatmaker nommé 20Syl, qui n'est nul autre que son oncle. Notre épisode est dédié à Degree.

Le Hip hop groovy et nourri d'influences multiples d'Hocus Pocus se fait désirer depuis des années. Il semble que le groupe hexagonal ait entendu l'appel de ses fans qui commençaient à trouver le temps long ! Pas moins de 20 concerts sur les scènes françaises ont été programmés à l'été 2019 et début 2020. Rencontre avec 20Syl qui évoque le parcours du groupe, la création et l'évolution de la planète hip-hop. Bangalore native Praveen Achary explores the deep, melodic side of electronica for Wild City Mix #096. The artist is constantly on the move performing and DJing at the countries most popular venues. As a DJ he’s known best for his unique combination of deep, tech and progressive house, though really his sensibilities have never been confined to the manacles of genre (as this mix testifies). 2013 saw the producer launch his very own label – Juicebox Music, with the aim of delivering ‘freshly packed’ sound to electronic music enthusiasts. Praveen Achary has got good things planned for the future of his music and label – his most recent venture saw him remix a track by UK progressive trance giants Above & Beyond, featured below in his mix. Falling just short of 50 minutes, mix #096 sees the artist delve into a side of electronica that isn’t immediately associated with his style. It starts slow and mellow with music by Turkish producer Erdi Irmak and Jamie XX, and Achary keeps the smooth, chill out vibe going with music by Shigeto, 20Syl & Monsoonsiren - only upping the tempo after the halfway mark with Henry Saiz and Art Department. Achary ends the mix on a high with his uplifting remix of Above & Beyond’s summery tune ‘We Are All We Need’, which it’s definitely worth a listen. Les Scratch Bandits Crew ne sont plus que deux et c'est donc Supa Jay et Syr qui mènent la barque. Ensemble, ils sont les auteurs du 3ème full album du groupe "Stereo 7" sorti le mois dernier. Et cerise sur le gâteau, l'opus est signé sur le label Marseillais Chinese Man Records, antre des Chinses Man, Deluxe ou encore Taïwan MC. "Stereo 7" ouvre une sorte de nouvelle ère pour le groupe malgré plus de 10 ans d'existence. Hocus Pocus, C2C, des collaborations et des remixes prestigieux à tire larigot... tout ce que touche 20Syl depuis 20 ans se transforme en or. Alors on pourrait croire que le Nantais se repose sur les fruits de ses succès. C'est mal connaitre son amour de la musique et sa boulimie de production. Un amour qui s'est matérialisé l'année dernière par l'EP "Motifs" sorti sur son label On And On Records, son premier projet solo ! Boulimie qui se traduit cette année encore avec le deuxième volume de ces mêmes "Motifs". Après avoir reçu Pumpkin et Vin's Da Cuero la semaine dernière, duo avec qui il y a travaillé sur le morceau "Fifty-Fifty", c'est lui qu'on reçoit ce mercredi pour parler de sa musique. Une facette que le grand public connait un peu moins tant il a brillé au micro ou derrière ses platines.
