Psalm 81 WorksheetAs we read Psalm 81, look for clues about what this Psalm was written for. Also look for the place the Psalm switches to God being the one speaking.Asaph's call to Festival worship V. 1-3The opening 3 verses have ______ commands calling the people to the praise of the Festival, making this a Praise psalm. When Jacob is used for Israel instead of Israel, it is often a not so subtle _________________________ of where they came from – sinful Jacob became Israel because of what God had done in his life.Jacob's name can mean to be behind or supplanter. It was given to him at birth when he grabbed his twin brother's heel in the womb as they came out; That's a great name for one who later wrestled with God and had his name changed to Israel, which means “one who struggles with God.” The root consonant of ‘struggle' in Hebrew is SYR; For Israel it is ‘YSR.'Israel's lunar calendar meant their festivals coincided with moon ________________. The new moon was by definition the first of the month. Also in the day of your gladness, in your appointed feasts, and at the beginning of your months, you shall blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings and over the sacrifice of your peace offerings; and they shall be a memorial for you before your God: I am the LORD your God. -Numbers 10:10Yahweh's _________________________ of His deliverance V. 4-7Verses 4-5 seem to confirm the statute referred to is the ______________________ Festival, since it was actually commanded before they actually left Egypt (Exodus 12). That would mean “He” going throughout the land of Egypt would be a reference to the LORD's judgment in the tenth plague. The reference to Joseph in verse 5 seems to be a reference to Joseph's role in preserving Jacob's sons/ Joseph's brothers in Egypt during the famine described at the end of Joseph. Alternatively, it could mean this Psalm was written with the Northern tribes in mind during the time of the divided kingdom (922-722 B.C.) That would mean the Psalm is urging the north not to reject God's design for the entire country.Verse 7 covers the time that Israel wandered for 40 years in the wilderness. God led them, even though they were often stubborn and ungrateful. Time after time He delivered them and answered them “thunderously.” They tested Him and He proved Himself faithful and holy. He tested them and they showed themselves ______________________ and sinful. These are the waters of Meribah, where the people quarreled with the LORD, and through them He showed Himself holy. -Numbers 20:13Yahweh's ___________________________ to His people V. 8-16In verses 8-9 God reminds Israel of the call in the 10 commands to worship Him alone, not ________________________.In verse 10 God is telling them that He delivered them in the past, and provided for their needs – He is the _________________________ God who did that!Verse 11 has to be among the saddest statements in the Bible. No doubt they wanted God's protection and blessing, but they didn't want God _______________________. I wonder how many professing Christians that is also true about.Where in the New Testament do we read the words, “God gave them over?”___________________________God's judgment of sin begins by letting people do the sinful things they are bound and determined to do, and experience the built-in ___________________________ of those sins.Proverbs 14:12God makes clear in verse 14 that if they return to Him He will take care of their ___________________.Verse 15 is a good Old Testament verse for the _______________________ punishment of the those who don't turn to God.The Psalm ends with an additional blessing promised – If people listen to God, turn back to Him, and walk in His ways, He won't just take care of their troubles but He will provide for their needs, fully _________________________ them.
I sin bok ”Madness and the romantic poet” beskriver litteraturforskaren James Whitehead hur vansinne ansågs ge genial inspiration åt romantikens brittiska poeter. I'm celebrating the early part of St. Patrick's month by volunteering in the Iditarod race in Alaska. I'll be singing Celtic tunes while taking care of the huskies running for 1,049 frozen miles from Anchorage to Nome. I have dual citizenship with the Republic, as my grandparents immigrated from Roscommon, Dublin, and Limerick. Perhaps I can start a sled - dog team representing the Republic somewhere in the future. Best wishes," Ben Doran replied to my feedback request: "Hello Marc; The weather here in Wisconsin today definitely inspires kilt wear. And weather/whether or not it is nearly this nice on St. Patrick's Day weekend, I'll be kilting it up. And singing with the band Ar Ais Aris (a - rash a - reesh)("Back Again") on Saturday in Berwyn, Il; then Sunday, to Galena, Il; then finish up with our two usual gigs for retirement communities in Rockton, Il and Beloit, WI on Monday. I will (yep) probably color my beard in orange and green for Monday. I think among the many new sounds/new music that I've heard from your podcasts, it would be the band, Larkin, that has my fancy (this week, anyway). No, I don't consider myself fickle, just distracted. Slainte, Marc!!" woodland folk emailed a photo: "heading to the wood for a fire and a practice, can listen then my friend... Attached is a picture,me and another friend who plays a Welsh harp, stopped to play a little on the river brue ...." Nathanael Stottlemyer emailed: "We're losing Good Celtic Music Hi Marc, It was last year that I started listening to your podcast, and like a mad man I started your podcast at the very beginning. I'm now at the year 2016 and I've loved every episode. There is just one problem. When I look up the bands that I loved and that I want to purchase their music, they're gone. There's no website, no Spotify, no YouTube, sometimes I can't even find their CD's used! And it's a shame, because they're good songs and sometimes, take Young Hunting by Serious Kitchen (Which was in your best of the year podcasts more than once) it's the only Celtic rendition of the song on the internet. I managed to buy the last Tig! Album off the internet, but it's looking bad for some of my other favorites. We're losing years of Celtic music, and it's a shame, especially since I know that the members of Serious Kitchen and others are still around. I don't suppose I'm missing a way to buy these albums. I really hope I am. I don't suppose you could use your amazing Celtfather connections and reach out to some of the people of these bands and see if they'd put on Bandcamp? Or perhaps a huge "Best of the Irish and Celtic Music Podcast" album with some of these lost treasures? They're some of the best music I've heard. Thanks, Nathanael"

My name is Kat, I'm an Aussie and I was travelling through Peru for the month of July. You mentioned in a recent episode to send in travel pictures, so here are a few happy snaps from my recent wanderings. I've played the flute for many years, with my favourite type of music to play being anything Celtic. However, while in the city of Cusco, I met a Peruvian flute maker and fell in love with the sound of the low Andean meditation flute. I'm already thinking of creative ways I can blend the Andean flute with a Celtic sound. I'd be open to any suggestions! I've attached a photo of me playing the Andean flute at Laguna Churup, it was quite a hike to get there but well worth the view. Aside from that, I get very badly motion sick on buses and unfortunately this is the main mode of transport to get around Peru. I found that zoning out by listening to the Irish and Celtic Music Podcast was incredibly helpful on long haul bus rides, so thank you for helping me to prevent motion sickness while travelling! I can't wait to hear where your next Celtic Invasion takes you. Happy travels," Patrick Rieger emailed photos: "Hello Marc, My family and I went to three faires this year, and I wanted to share some photos of the musicians. First up are photos from the Great Lakes Medieval Faire. Then the Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival. And finally, the Ohio Renaissance festival. I'll need to spread them out over two or three emails because of attachment size limits." WOODLAND FOLK sent some Fair Winter Morning photos:

(Syr 1, 13-15) Zapraszamy do wysłuchania najnowszej rozmowy!

We went into the battery metals today with lithium and graphite! Leo Lithium's (LLL.asx) trading halt caught our eye, with potential rumblings of greater government interests in Malian mining projects. Syrah (SYR.asx) posted a tough quarterly, which we of course tuned into the call for. The graphite market is complex to say the least and SYR had some interesting commentary for us to expand upon. To round off we chat about Allkem (AKE.asx) flicking on stage 2 at Olaroz and how they've been fairing since announcing the merger with Livent Corp. Email a voicemail message to celticpodcast@gmail.com Lou Gagliardi emailed: "Hi Marc, You ask people to email you to tell you what they're doing when they listen to the show. Sadly, I have no pictures to show but some good news to share I've been researching my family history and can proudly say that I've been finding lots of Irish, Scottish and even Welsh ancestry. I have no problem sharing the names - - Moon, Dunseath, Lowrie, Thomson, Dunn, etc. So your show helps me connect, in a way, to family long lost physically but coming to me in a spiritual and emotional way. Thanks and keep up the great work! " John Thompson wrote about episode #581: "Hey Marc, Just listened to the Irish & Celtic Music podcast episode 581 and I had a question. One of the last tracks was by Bren Holmes - - a song called SOS. This is a cover song originally written and performed by the Swedish pop group ABBA around 1975 (yeah, I'm that old). I thought you had a policy about not playing covers as they're not "pod safe". It's a great song and I've heard MANY great covers performed at various festivals by various bands. It would be fantastic if you could play more but don't want you to get into any kind of trouble. I'm not quite sure how that works. If you could explain it briefly for your listeners maybe it would clear up the confusion." George Mears emailed: "Marc, I've been a listener since the early days and a patron for several years. The podcast has been my companion for road trips, yard work, construction projects, and career changes; also raising two sons and all the changes 17 years brings. I've written a few times, including in 2018 when my sister and I had our own Celtic Invasion of Scotland after the death of our parents, which you shared with my fellow listeners, thank you. I took a deep stroll through the podcast archive recently, going back to selected episodes through the years. While the music has always been wonderful, it was insightful to hear the difference in your voice, energy, and personal topics from those days. Your podcast has been a shared experience for we, the listeners. Thank you for the virtual weekly meet - up that has brought so much joy. I'll be among your patrons for the next 17 years. Slainte!"

--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/kraj/message

But mostly, it features songwriting by Marc Gunn with guests including: Screeched Inn, The Muckers, Jamie Haeuser, Sam Gillogly, Nathan Deese, and Mikey Mason. Selcouth means, “when everything is strange and different, yet you find it marvelous anyway.” The album is not completely Celtic and it's not just science fiction and fantasy. It's a fusion of the two. It's heartfelt and a lot of fun. It's now on sale in my Bandcamp store. Check out Selcouth now. THANK YOU PATRONS OF THE PODCAST! I was searching Pandora for some traditional Celtic music to play as a background to a personal spring/renewal ritual I felt compelled to do on this cool California night. When I happened upon your Podcast #196, I immediately knew I had my background music. I thought your talking would be a distraction, but it was not at all, like an extension of the music of the ancestors. I won't go into detail about my ritual tonight, other than to say this ritual marks the end of a very long period of trial and pain in one of my life's dark valleys, but the thing about valleys is that there are always the hills beyond to climb if you can just keep walking. I did, and tonight is like a new birth from the cauldron of the Cailleach. I have not cut my hair in ten years until tonight (by no means short, but shorter), a show of faith in renewed growth, and to offer a red - blonde lock as tribute to the ancestors. I don't know much about you or what your spirituality may be, but I felt the need to thank you for being with me on this small milestone in my journey. I look forward to getting to know you better through your work. And thank you. Blessings of the Tuatha de,”

I am back from Texas and as you can hear I have no voice. Or rather I only have my sexy voice. Today we are celebrating Earth month. April 22 is Earth Day. April 29 is Arbor Day. So I thought we'd celebrate our planet and trees with this special show. After all, we are stewards of this planet. I want to encourage you to find out what you can do to be a better steward. I found a great article on “7 Tips to Recycle Better” on the Earth Day website. I learned a lot about what I've been doing wrong and how I can change my behavior to recycle more effectively. I also want to invite you to check out The Carbon Almanac. It's a crowdsourced book and website designed to share easy, small changes that you can do to make a huge impact. It was designed by literally hundreds of people around the world to address climate change. There's even a book that's coming out in June. You can find out more about it at https://thecarbonalmanac.org/ WHAT'S NEW IN IRISH & CELTIC MUSIC: BEST OF 2022 Two weeks after the episode is launched, I compile the latest Celtic Top 20 votes to update a playlist on Spotify and Amazon Music. I historically listened to the show while at the gym. Well, COVID really impacted my gym attendance, so with the pandemic waning, I've got a lot of catching up to do (both in podcast listening and in physical health)! Promote Celtic culture through music at http://celticmusicpodcast.com/. BUY SELCOUTH BY MARC GUNN My latest CD features Sci F'Irish music. That means it is original songs fusing pop culture themes with Irish drinking songs. There are some traditional music on the album.
