Hailing from Albania, Da Luka emerged from his country's electronic music landscape just over a decade ago. Whether operating in solo capacity or alongside occasional production partner Jorgio Kioris, Da Luka's creative vision would summon the praise of progressive music tastemakers Cid Inc, Guy J, Eelke Kleijn, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and more, in turn leading to releases via Droid9, Juicebox Music, Movement Recordings and WARPP. Choosing his projects wisely across 2023, the year would prove to be impactful for the Berat resident, with the formation and subsequent success of roku, along with key releases via Electronic Groove and Mango Alley. Meanwhile, made up of German artists Jan de Vice and JP Silence, the Electric Dada alias was revealed to the world in 2020. The duo's progressive style was immediately recognised for its emotive qualities and strong dancefloor sensibility. A transcendent sound which would see them go on to release key projects via Clubsonica, Dopamine White, Massive Harmony and Univack, while also earning praise from the underground's premiere tastemakers. Having been paired together once previously for a release via Electronic Groove, Da Luka and Electric Dada combine their extensive forces once again, getting 2024 off to a strong start with ‘Rubicon', alongside remixes from Subandrio and Forty Cats.

Presenting their third release of the year, roku welcomes Blanka Barbara to the label for her debut EP. Born in Poland but now based in London, Blanka Barbara first emerged in 2020 with a series of releases via her Rabbit Records imprint. Quickly catching the attention of the progressive house and melodic techno communities, the next two years would see the classically trained pianist and composer go on to record projects for Lane 8's This Never Happened, Ziger's Eat My Hat Music, John OO Fleming's Joof Aura, Mango Alley and Proton's Particles. With 2023 projects for Juicebox Music and Balkan Connection already in the books, Blanka now adds roku to her resume with ‘Ever Closer', alongside remixes from Danny Lloyd and Bondarev. Destined to be a highlight in Blanka's discography, it is the melodic stylings of ‘Ever Closer' which get the release underway. Electrically charged from the outset, its rolling rhythmic structures, striking percussion and character rich groove set the piece on a course for aural enlightenment. Dark bass stabs and haunting overlays cleverly coax across the first act, elevating momentum and mood for a finale of colourful arps and hopeful sonics. The companion piece ‘Descending Into Heaven' finds Blanka showcasing a deeper, more emotive side of her repertoire. The London resident masterfully marries blissful sonics and balmy effects over a framework of warm fluid grooves and precise percussive arrangements. Sitting at the heart of the piece is a reflective interlude, one where hopeful melodies unite in a whirlpool of textural euphoria, perfectly suited for those magical morning moments on the dancefloor. Making his label debut with the lone interpretation of ‘Ever Closer' is Danny Lloyd. With a career that spans the better part of two decades, Italian artist Danny Lloyd has etched his own unique place in progressive music history. Long a favourite of Hernan Cattaneo, the Tuscany resident has taken his smooth effortless sound to long standing imprints Asymmetric Recordings, MNL, Movement, Proton Music and more. Known for being choosy in his projects, Danny's first production of 2023 finds the Italian artist making his roku debut with a hypnotic rendition of ‘Ever Closer'. Opting for a timeless approach, the Italian artist creates a distinctive interpretation in his inimitable style; with arpeggiated fragments and airy sonics uniting over a bed of thumping beats and pulsing basslines, casting a spell over the listener across a fluid first movement, before breaking out into a tastefully restrained and deeply meditative finale. The release concludes with Bondarev making his label debut with the lone interpretation of ‘Descending Into Heaven'. Russian artist Bondarev has been a DJ for the better part of two decades, sharing the stage with some of progressive music's most iconic names, while operating as the booking manager for Saint Petersburg's famed WARPP Club. As a producer, Bondarev first emerged in 2017 with a release via Crossings, a project which would lead to key discography credits courtesy of aboriginal, Mango Alley, Proton's Particles and most recently via WARPP's label, where he operates as the A&R. Now, presenting his first remix of 2023, Bondarev debuts on roku with a powerful take on ‘Descending Into Heaven'. Buoyant and energetic across the first movement, Bondarev continues his stylized ways with rippling grooves, flashing percussion and dark stabs creating a prophetic path into the main break. Sitting comfortably in an emotive yet thought provoking space; childlike motifs and sweeping harmonies converge, rising out of calming atmospheres as the interlude evolves, eventually giving way to a thunderous drop and energetic final movement. Ending the year on a high having witnessed a plethora of musical highlights, Meanwhile has been a shining beacon for progressive house throughout 2021. Now, Australian, Mike Rish, becomes the latest debutant to showcase his talents on GMJ & Matter's blossoming imprint with the 3-track “Beyond” EP. From his home on Australia's south-eastern coast, Mike Rish has witnessed an impressive rise to notoriety, courtesy of a clutch of high-profile releases on an exclusive set of blue-chip labels. Not wanting to flood the progressive house scene with a swathe of formulaic dance music, the Melbourne resident's “selective output” is based on a carefully thought-out commitment to “keep people engaged, but also wanting more”. Thus, Rish's work for the likes of Colorize, Serendeep and Juicebox Music, has seen the Australian carve out a sizeable niche for himself, further enhanced by March 2021's 12-track “Interlinked” album for UGENIUS Music. Opening his Meanwhile account with the “Beyond” title track, a chunky beat and cavernous bass groove sit tightly against off-beat hats and snare. Filtering into sonic range, an elegant arpeggio provides glorious melodic interplay as white-noise washes and meandering pads pulse gently across the near 10-minute piece. Full of spine-tingling atmosphere, additional melodic phrasing is introduced at the breakdown before extending into the third movement with ease, combined with a raft of effects and masterful touches. A bouncing bass groove immediately finds “Mindgame” oozing with hypnotic force and low-end menace. Sat perfectly in between deep kick and ticking hats, a flowing melodic line ripples across proceedings as it rises and falls with filtered dynamism. Twisted vocal cuts and acetylene-edged synth effects pitch with glissando range adding to the aural collage in a track full of dark and mesmerising beauty. Closing the EP, “Here For You” is characterised by an intricate percussive arrangement that introduces a subtle melodic backdrop. Effects and textured pads span the stereo stage in modulated glory as a pulsating lead melody enters the fray in the second movement. Building steadily before revealing itself fully in the stripped back breakdown, the second half blossoms in commanding fashion with a pulsating confluence of rhythm and melody. The result is a track that illustrates Mike Rish's unique talent and technique. A musical triptych full of innovation and sonic narrative, Mike Rish has gone above and “Beyond” with a glittering display of production prowess. Raised on Beirut's famed club scene, Dubai -based since 2014, Bachir 's uplifting mellifluous sets and deep, emotional productions movingly and skilfully combine progressive house, deep house and shades of tech house. ‘Each gig is different. But my sound and style are always identifiable, defined by me and the tracks I choose to share.' Inspired by his older brother who was a hip - hop and R&B DJ, Bachir started exploring electronic music aged 16 and was captivated by Beirut's diverse music scene. His first DJ gig was in 2006 at OM, an after-hours club in Beirut. ‘The first time I saw a turntable and vinyl was thanks to my brother, he used to work at a local radio station as a DJ. He used to practise at home and I remember wanting to learn so badly, he never allowed me to touch the equipment and I now know why!' His earlier influences were suitably diverse too, including rock music, heavy metal and progressive rock(Pink Floyd, Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree). From age 13-15 years old, he would carefully curate and record fragments of songs from the radio and create mixtapes on cassette, by learning the radio schedule and waiting for just the right song he wanted. ‘I always wanted to make my passion, my work. How amazing to travel the world and share your stories through your own music. To create happy moments and endless connections through it. I believe in staying true to yourself and your unique sound, to really stand out in an industry full of talented people.' By studying the electric guitar, he got first introduced to making music at a young age. Donny Carr made his first appearance in the scene through his remixes of Jerome Isma-Ae and Alastor's "Kubrick" and "Fiction" on Jerome's "Jee Productions" in early 2018. Великолепный прогрессив, благодаря мастерскому ремиксу известных музыкантов и ремиксеров Pole Folder и CP здоровски качает эфир прямо на его экваторе. Австралиец Matter сделал фантастический ремикс на трек Timelapse от продюсера из Индии Nakul Ambilkar, более известного на электронной сцене как SEQU3L. Его музыку выпускают такие лейблы как Movement Recordings, Juicebox Music, Beat Boutique, Balkan Connection и многие другие. Matter же придал треку особого шарма, в своем фирменном стиле сделав очень эмоциональный ремикс, который надолго задержится в ваших акустических системах. Слушать Timelapse лучше всего на хорошем звуке, ведь именно для этого он и создавался. Довести танцпол до состояния эйфории в самый peak-time - это нетривиальная задача на сегодня, а ремикс Matterа сделает это безотлагательно. Импринт Diynamic, который принадлежит всем известному Соломуну издал потрясный виниловый релиз итальянца Musumeci под названием Mood Organs. На пластинке три трека и сегодня я хочу представить полюбившуюся мне Hey Mama. Очень атмосферный и качественный трек, который к тому же отлично спродюсирован и занял достойное место в моей музыкальной коллекции. Еще одно виниловое приобретение для меня - это уважаемый импринт Ли Бэрриджа All Day I Dream, пластинки которого я активно покупаю. На этот раз Lee Burridge совместно с Lost Desert и полюбившимся фанатам лейбла вокалистом Junior сотворили очередной шлягер 2018 года под названием Elongi. Все хорошо помнят успех пластинки Lingala, которую ребята записали таким же составом в 2016 году. Пластинку Lingala размели с прилавков магазинов слушатели и диск-жокеи за считанные недели и на сегодня пластинку уже не купить и я уверен, сегодняшнюю Elongi EP ждет такая же участь. Поэтому, советую запастить своей копией, пока есть такая возможность. Британский певец L.Doblado с очень эмоциальным вокальным треком Lie Alone, который в фирменном стиле ремикшировал всеми любимый проект 16 Bit Lolitas. Рекомендую обратить внимание на великолепные ямы, а также эффектные выходы из них. У этой работы есть все шансы, чтобы покорить сердце каждой девушки на танцполе. В завершении программы нашумевший в последнем Фабрике от Саши ремикс самого маэстро на трек Amae от BAILE и вокалистки Felicia Douglass. Это проект Trafik с треком Your Light, который наделал много шума в середине нулевых, благодаря потрясающему брейксовому ремиксу еще одного моего любимчика - австралийца Luke Chable. Luke Chable - автор целой серии хитов танцполов 2005 года. Сегодня Luke Chable уже далеко не тот талантливый тинейджер, которым был с десяток лет назад, а состоявшийся и один из самых выдающихся музыкальных продюсеров мировой танцевальной сцены, имеющий в запасе более 70 собственных треков и бесчисленное количество ремиксов. Свою профессиональную диджейскую карьеру Luke Chable начал в 18 лет, но первые метаморфозы произошли еще в 10-летнем возрасте. «Тогда я не знал, что это было именно то, чем я хотел бы заниматься дальше. Я просто всегда делал это». Accelerator - первый из многих совместных проектов Люка, в которых он оттачивал свое мастерство вместе с такими именами, как James Holden, PQM, Austin Leeds и Cass. Not long after a move to the musical hotbed of Austin, Texas in 2009, the Ablekid moniker had seen success in various forms. Various tracks signed to Kindred Recordings (Paris) and Rapid Fire Records (Miami) in 2009 put his production style on the map. Daniel has also fostered relationships with many promo services by becoming part of the esteemed Release Promo roster in 2014. In late 2015 Daniel started his radio show on DNA Radio FM, “Pineal Sessions with Ablekid” showcasing his finest picks for the enlightened listeners he hopes to reach. Daniel’s newly released music can be found on Praveen Achary’s Juicebox Music where he has made the USA’s sole appearance on the esteemed label’s first “Elements” series, an ongoing venture that sees the label highlight talent from across the world. The release also saw a write up and 12 Questions interview from legend Mitch Alexander and Change Underground, making it a true highlight thus far in this man’s musical journey. Daniel’s continued success in the US underground is a combination of effective crate digging, silky smooth DJ skills and just the right amount of grit and determination. Bangalore native Praveen Achary explores the deep, melodic side of electronica for Wild City Mix #096. The artist is constantly on the move performing and DJing at the countries most popular venues. As a DJ he’s known best for his unique combination of deep, tech and progressive house, though really his sensibilities have never been confined to the manacles of genre (as this mix testifies). 2013 saw the producer launch his very own label – Juicebox Music, with the aim of delivering ‘freshly packed’ sound to electronic music enthusiasts. Praveen Achary has got good things planned for the future of his music and label – his most recent venture saw him remix a track by UK progressive trance giants Above & Beyond, featured below in his mix. Falling just short of 50 minutes, mix #096 sees the artist delve into a side of electronica that isn’t immediately associated with his style. It starts slow and mellow with music by Turkish producer Erdi Irmak and Jamie XX, and Achary keeps the smooth, chill out vibe going with music by Shigeto, 20Syl & Monsoonsiren - only upping the tempo after the halfway mark with Henry Saiz and Art Department. Achary ends the mix on a high with his uplifting remix of Above & Beyond’s summery tune ‘We Are All We Need’, which it’s definitely worth a listen.
