We are in Bristol for another Things People Did, and our guest this week is comedian and Tik Tok sensation, Abi Clarke. Abi has had quite the journey, from work experience at a hairdressers (where they basically kept her in a cupboard), to making it on the big screen as an extra in Poldark, where she mostly just flirted with 'the hottest man alive' whilst dressed in a horrendous wig. She also invented something called 'dog of the week' and she teaches Joe how to improv as a welsh chimney sweep. It's a wild ride. We love Abi - go see her on tour! We know you lot love a good story… Sony Music and Somethin' Else have released a brand-new comedy podcast featuring Omid Djalili, and he's put together a cast of some of his favourite comedians. You remember the game where someone whispers a word or a sentence, and it gets passed along at school, and it loses all meaning? Well, this is that game. But with full stories. And six funny people Season 1 features Abi Clarke, Sean Burke, Helen Bauer, Kai Samra and Sikisa. Here's a little taster from season 1 to whet your appetite – And season 2 is on its way. Make sure you follow and download the show - just search for ‘Please Tell Me A Story' wherever you get your podcasts, or follow this link: https://podfollow.com/1651931216 Learn more about your ad choices. Omid tells his story to Abi. Abi tells Omid's story to Sean, then Sean to Kai, Kai to Sikisa and Sikisa to Helen… each time with hilarious misrememberings, improvisations, stumbles, fumbles and laughs. Six comedians have a funny story to tell. Can they pass the story along the chain without completely twisting the tale? But this isn't like the game you play at school where you only whisper short sentences. Each episode is a complete, beautifully written story, with each retelling getting funnier (and weirder!) as it passes on. And boy, does season one of Please Tell Me A Story feature an all star comedy cast: Omid Djalili, Abi Clarke, Seán Burke, Kai Samra, Sikisa, and Helen Bauer. Omid Djalili welcomes you to Please Tell Me A Story, the show where six funny people tell each other the same story over and over again, with hilarious consequences along the way. Our comedians must pass the original tale down the line from memory, resulting in many stumbles, fumbles, and laughs. Abi Clarke is in the story-telling hotseat this week. She spins a compelling yet baffling yarn of (slightly untimely) festive cheer through the lens of a Florida Man. Think Dickens' ‘A Christmas Carol' mixed with the ridiculous antics of men from the US's Sunshine State, complete with helium balloons, an underwater world, and an emotional support python. It's an age-old story with a surprisingly modern resonance, which led Kai Samra to declare he was ‘having a breakdown' trying to remember it. So how many of the details will go walkies as we pass it down the line…? In this week's episode, the packed Edinburgh Fringe audience were treated to the presence of hilarious comedian, YouTuber and crime fighter, Abi Clarke! It's very clear in the crime Abi shares at the start of the show, that she was born to do this podcast, and has probably invented a new crime-fighting character, it's so handy that she's already got the costume! The group then delves into a case which could be a truly victimless crime, at the very least one which produced its own merchandise and I'll bet my bottom dollar, that you'll love the perp in the end...And finally, we hear from a member of the audience, who gives us an insight into being both the victim and perp of criminal activity ... and let's just say, that being on the wrong side of the law NEVER pays, so don't do it kids!
