For seven days, I sat in the front row of the multimillion-pound libel trial and, to be honest with you - another favourite phrase of Vardy's, (a phrase which led Coleen Rooney's barrister, David Sherborne QC to retort, "Well, I'd much rather you're honest because you are sitting in a witness box") - in all my many years of covering fashion and celebrities in this paper, this was the purest form of entertainment I have ever seen. How good are you at being honest with other people? Go on, be honest with yourself about that one! Coleen Rooney would always rather tell the truth before a situation escalates. In this chat with Fearne, Coleen explains how she's instilling that honesty is the best policy in her four sons, as well as why she's so grateful to have a village around her to help raise her boys. With four children, Coleen is in a lot of school gate WhatsApp groups, so she and Fearne spill what really goes down in those wild group chats... They also chat about how she and husband Wayne prioritise time as a couple, especially after so many years together, and what it was really like being thrust into the public eye as a teenager just because her boyfriend was a footballer. Plus, Coleen has dealt with some incredibly stressful situations in her life, so what does she do to make sure it doesn't overwhelm her? Coleen is an ambassador for the protein, vitamins and collagen brand Applied Nutrition. Leaked DMs, a sting operation worthy of Agatha Christie, and two WAGs (wives and girlfriends of footballers): the recipe for a bloody good scandal. Coleen Rooney played online sleuth to nab the culprit behind leaking her private Instagram stories to the press. Her shocking reveal targeted another footballer's wife, Rebekah Vardy, causing a social media meltdown and a libel suit. This tale of warring WAGs redefines what it means to spill the tea. Emma Barnett is joined by Professor Tim Child, chair of the HFEA's Scientific and Clinical Advances Advisory Committee, and Jessica Hepburn, who spent over £70,000 on unsuccessful fertility procedures. In October 2019, Coleen Rooney was concerned by articles appearing in newspapers that could only have come from stories on her private Instagram account. She laid a trap for the account she suspected of the leak, and then told the world ‘It was…Rebekah Vardy's account'. Rebekah Vardy, who continues to deny she was the source of those stories, sued Coleen for libel. In a radio exclusive, Coleen speaks to Emma about her side of the story, told in a new documentary: The Real Wagatha Story. If the current polls are to be believed the next chancellor of the exchequer could be a woman. That woman would be Rachel Reeves, the current shadow chancellor and the MP for Leeds West. Originally from Lewisham, South London, she attended a state school, made it to Oxford University then into the world of finance working as an economist for the Bank of England. Labour have yet to announce their manifesto and detailed costed policies to put to the electorate, but we can examine the philosophy behind Labour's economic thinking because Rachel has just published her latest book, The Women Who made Modern Economics, and hear how they have influenced her own thinking. In October 2019, Coleen Rooney posted on social media that she had been concerned by articles appearing in newspapers that could only have come from stories on her private Instagram account. So she laid a trap for the account she suspected of the leak, and then told the world ‘It was…Rebekah Vardy's account'. Immediately dubbed ‘Wagatha Christie' - Rebekah Vardy, who continues to deny she was the source of those stories, sued Coleen for libel. A High Court judge ruled in Coleen Rooney's favour last year and she is now putting her side of the story in a documentary series on Disney Plus called Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story. She speaks to Emma Barnett in a radio exclusive interview. British poet Becky Hemsley has self-published four collections of her work and has been top of the Amazon poetry chart twice now - most recently around International Women's Day last March. Originally a primary school teacher, she now focuses solely on her poetry. She joins Emma to explain why and to perform some of her poetry live.
