It was Valentine's Day. Exactly one year had passed since Hannah had shown the first symptoms of the brain tumor which was now slowly taking her life. It had been a roller-coaster year full of MRIs, needle sticks, radiation treatments, chemotherapy, hair loss, platelet infusions, and hospital stays. We had watched our daughter go from a vibrant, healthy 16-year-old with high academic aspirations to a weak, nearly-blind 17-year-old with the mind of an old woman with Alzheimer's. But in spite of the physical and mental changes cancer had wrought, it had not stolen her sweet spirit.Thank you for joining me for another bonus episode of the While We're Waiting podcast in this year-long series in which I share our family's experiences as our teenage daughter Hannah battled glioblastoma brain cancer from February 2008 through February 2009. My desire is to process through the events of those twelve months with the perspective that 16 years has brought … and point listeners to hope in Jesus along the way.I would love to hear your thoughts on the show. This week, Chloe and Alexa are peeling back the curtain on the myth, the magic, and the marketing machine that is Valentine's Day. They're exploring what's worth letting go of, why being single can be the best gift you never expected, and why comparing your life to Instagram's highlight reel is a fast track to disappointment. Whether you're in a relationship or doing your own thing, Valentine's Day is only as good as the story you choose to tell yourself.
Sara sits down with Zoe Aldcroft after she was appointed Red Roses captain for 2025. Aldcroft tells us what it means to lead the team in a World Cup year and how supportive Marlie Packer has been since replacing her as skipper. There is plenty for Ugo, Danny and Chris to discuss on and off the pitch this week as the war of words - and emojis - continues between Rieko Ioane and Johnny Sexton. But it was Bristol who delivered the knockout blow of the weekend as they wrecked Bath's perfect start to the season. Alex Lozowski could be in line for his first England cap since 2018, but were there any big omissions from Steve Borthwick's training squad ahead of the autumns? The Red Roses beat the Black Ferns again and things aren't going well for Chris in Fantasy rugby.

Life away from rugby is just as important to Amy Cokayne as matters on the field. As an RAF police officer, the Leicester Tigers and Red Roses she has found comfort outside the sport after missing out on the chance to become world champions in 2017. From growing up with a nomadic childhood including her early rugby years in New Zealand, to playing against her future partner in the Army v Navy game and why a football club inspired her initials, Cokayne opens up on her life as a Red Rose. In this pod you will also hear from her brother Tom, mum and dad Ian and Sharon, as well as her partner Bethan Dainton, and from England team mates Emily Scarratt and Maddie Feaunati. Danny, Ashy and Chris are back on the sofa as we continue to gear up to the new domestic season. They discuss the pros and cons of a potential merger between the Premiership and the URC; which league would benefit most and is it inevitable at some point to secure the future of the domestic game? We also discuss Australia's struggles and what it means for the Lions tour next summer, plus if anyone - or anything - can stop the Red Roses from becoming world champions on home soil next summer.

Sara Orchard takes you back 10 years to remember the Red Roses' World Cup triumph in 2014. Sara is joined by Katy Daley-McLean, who led the side to glory in France, and the current England captain Marlie Packer, to relive their victory over Canada in the final. We find out why there was an armed guard at the Red Roses training base, Katy explains why she turned down a visit from Jonny Wilkinson before the final and Marlie pinpoints the exact moment she knew England were going to win the World Cup. There's also plenty on the celebrations at full-time and the Take That song that became the team's anthem during the tournament.
