Step into the profound journey of faith as we sit down with Dr. Troy Bostick, my father-in-law and trusted dentist, to unravel the incredible story behind the Gideons. Originating from a simple idea to counter the saloon culture of the late 19th century, this evangelistic association has blossomed into a monumental force for spreading the Christian faith across the globe. Discover how two determined businessmen from Wisconsin ignited a mission that now operates in over 200 countries, distributing Bibles in 196 languages, with a staggering 95 million Bibles shared just last year. We'll uncover the unique color-coding system that helps direct Bibles to groups like military personnel and medical staff, and dive into the biblical inspiration for the name "Gideons," drawn from a figure known for his steadfast obedience to God's will. Our conversation takes a personal turn as we explore the impact of becoming a Gideon, emphasizing its non-denominational nature and the heartfelt commitment involved. Dr. Bostick sheds light on the various roles within the organization, from speaking engagements at churches to the distribution of Bibles in hotels and hospitals. We also highlight the innovative Gideon card program, a meaningful way to honor loved ones by donating Bibles in their name. With personal stories and gospel narratives at the heart of this endeavor, we discuss how these tales of faith can connect and empower. “Nobody goes into adolescent medicine or into a field of medicine that serves adolescent patients because it's simple and straightforward, right?” In May 2024, the New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute Clinical Guidelines Program published an update to the guidelines, “Guidance: Adolescent Consent to HIV and STI Treatment and Prevention.” These guidelines serve to inform New York State clinicians who provide primary care to adolescents about existing regulations that allow minors to consent for and receive confidential HIV and STI screening, treatment, and prevention. In this episode, Dr. Erica Bostick chats with Dr. Uri Belkind, Associate Medical Director for Adolescent Medicine and Clinical Director of the Health Outreach to Teens (HOTT) program at Callen-Lorde Community Health Center in New York City, and original lead author of these guidelines. Drs. Bostick and Belkind discuss the intricacies of providing confidential HIV and STI care to adolescents, perspectives on how to navigate sexual health conversations with patients and a trusted adult, resources on confidential adolescent healthcare for general providers, and more! On today's episode of Locked On Aggies, host Andrew Stefaniak talks about the recent addition of former Iowa receiver Jacob Bostick in the portal. The Jabre Barber injury led to the Aggies needing to go get another receiver, and Bostick could be just what Coach Mike Elko was looking for. Stefaniak then asks if he is overlooking the Aggies matchups with the South Carolina Gamecocks, Arkansas Razorbacks, and Mississippi State Bulldogs or if he is fair in thinking the Aggies will win these games. Lastly, Stefaniak talks about how there is a world where offensive coordinator Collin Klein leaves for a head coaching job if he has a good season. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! While Pat Bostick was on the show, he formally delivered a present intended for Adam Crowley's newborn daughter. It was not as pleasant as Crowley thought it would be.
Pat Bostick joined the show. Pat gave his thoughts on the top quarterback prospects and who he would want to talk to at the Senior Bowl. Bo Nix and Michael Penix have played long college careers, like Kenny Pickett did.
Hour 2 with Dorin Dickerson and Pat Bostick: Pat Bostick joined the rest of the show. Pat gave his thoughts on the top quarterback prospects and who he would want to talk to at the Senior Bowl. Bo Nix and Michael Penix have played long college careers, like Kenny Pickett did. The Steelers are interested in a center in the NFL Draft. Pat talked about the connection between a quarterback and center. It can be a wet handoff on a hot or very cold day when snapping under center. The center calls out protections and needs to have a good relationship with his quarterback. There's been a lot of coordinator changes in the NFL. Former Pitt QB Alex Van Pelt has landed as the new OC in New England. We look around the league at coaching vacancies and how the league stacks up. The Bechtold Breakdown: A look back at some of the top topics this week and facts that matter!
Picture a workforce driven not by the promise of a paycheck, but by a shared sense of purpose and the thrill of contributing to something greater than themselves. How can you can ignite a passion in a team that money simply can't buy. Hour 2 with Dorin Dickerson and Pat Bostick: Sports Director Jeff Hathhorn joined the show. The Pirates signed reliever Aroldis Chapman Monday. There are still moves that need to be made. Chapman had a good season last year and won a World Series. He also doesn't have the task of being the Pirates closer. At 35, he still has a 100 mph fastball. Unless Paul Skenes dominates in spring training, he will likely start in AAA and get a few starts before being promoted. The Penguins scored on their own net in Arizona. The Steelers put in a request to interview Rams pass-game coordinator Zac Robinson. Someone from the McVay tree is a good candidate to build an offense. Tomlin needs to turn words into good actions. Robinson is 37 years old and has never been a coordinator. The Steelers need a good offensive mind. Pat Bostick joined for the rest of the show. The Steelers have put in a request to interview Rams pass-game coordinator Zac Robinson. Dorin played with Robinson in the Senior Bowl. He doesn't have the play calling experience, but has been to the Super Bowl. Pat thinks you want to cast a wide net. He works in conjunction with quarterbacks and hearing messages from Sean McVay. McVay is one of the most detail-oriented coaches and Robinson has been under McVay's wing. Do you look much into coaching trees? Pat doesn't think Mike Tomlin has a coaching tree because he's a defensive head coach and much more involved. Offensive head coaches have better coaching trees with the coordinators being able to translate what their coach is leading the way for, Andy Reid, Bill Walsh, and Kyle Shanahan are prime examples. If you're in the Steelers shoes, would you rather have an OC who can develop a young quarterback or is an ultra schemer with play calling? Pat thinks it's about developing Kenny Pickett or the next young QB. Baker Mayfield and Kirk Cousins come with very high price tags.
Hour 1 with Dorin Dickerson: Jeff Hathorn and Pat Bostick are in studio for the full show. Jeff was at Mike Tomlin's press conference and asked some great questions. Reporters wondered if Tomlin would be sincere and with transparency, and a lot of people think that's the case. Tomlin was emotional during his opening statement. Any doubt in Jeff's mind that Tomlin might have thought about he future too much and maybe he wouldn't be back when answering questions in Buffalo? He might have had those internal thoughts that could have been the reason he was emotional. Tomlin needs to realize he needs to change the way he approaches structure and discipline. Art Rooney confirmed that Mike Tomlin will be back and given a contract extension. When will Tomlin be extended? It's probable his contract will be for two additional seasons. Free agents that want to play for Tomlin want to know as well. A press release confirming a two-year extension is probably coming soon. It would confirm why Tomlin was happy and cheerful to start his press conference, but Tomlin seems on notice things could change if he continues to struggle in the playoffs. The ultimate goal is to win a championship, every year. Tomlin said they fell short of winning a world championship a few times. Tomlin felt very intent on saying it and his message after T.J. Watt said he wants to win a PLAYOFF GAME. The Steelers need to bolster the offensive line and get more consistent quarterback play. Coaching changes in the NFL. Kyle Shanahan has a system that travels and a culture that works. DeMeco Ryans brought the culture to Houston. Pat wants to bring in a voice from the 49ers.

The Patriots had Bailey Zappe play and were without their No. 1 running back and wide receiver. we hear from callers on the Steelers' failures. Pat thinks there's a culture problem and young players aren't developing. The next couple years are going to be difficult. A texter said Pat Bostick called out Pat Freiermuth for being hurt but didn't talk about Kenny Pickett. The Pitt and Penn State people are going at it again to make excuses. Pat sees holes on the roster because of how Mike Tomlin uses the roster and who's brought onto the team. The drama in the locker room is a problem for Pat. Crowley thinks that by the time things could be fixed, Joey Porter Jr. and Broderick Jones will be some of the only main players left. Is this it for Cam Heyward's chances to win in a Steelers uniform? Mike Tomlin's personal life could play a factor in a decision. He doesn't have many ties here and his children are grown up. Tomlin can still get another head coaching job. He's a good coach, but it's ok to understand his time in Pittsburgh is done.

What a pleasure it was to catch up with Josh! While Josh is less than two years into his Type 1 diabetes diagnosis (30 years old), he has mastered his blood sugar management. His last A1c was 4.8! He attributes much of his success to fasting, which we discussed in depth. He continues to use fasting to ensure that all of his insulin settings are correct. Additionally, fasting has greatly helped him with exercise. Interestingly, after we spoke the last time, he experienced a delayed honeymoon period. He was initially confused by the lower insulin needs but, upon discussing these changes with his endocrinologist, he realized what was going on. Upon coming out of the honeymoon, he was able to use fasting to get his settings back to the right spot. Lastly, Josh has been able to lose around 40 pounds from a starting weight of 207. All in all, fasting has completely transformed his life and he is very passionate about sharing what he has learned with others. It's so great to hear from someone that is doing so well! Here's Josh's earlier interview:https://stream.redcircle.com/episodes/29c5419f-c1c1-497e-a27b-94b103c81283/stream.mp3https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-fast-life-with-diabetes-intermittent-fasting/id1601043790?i=1000603236179

We don't know if Phil Jurekovec will start. This is a game Bub Means needs to get going. Pat can see 7-9 sacks for Pitt! The game plan really doesn't change much, in Pat's eyes, if Christian Veilleux or Phil Jurkovec start.

In this episode, Jason and Patrick Heizer speak to Kristina Bostick about the Montgomery County Agricultural Reserve. Directly northwest of Washington DC, Montgomery County is Maryland's most populated county, with well over one million residents. In 1980, the Montgomery County Council made one of the most significant land-use decisions in US history by creating the Agricultural Reserve. Heralded as one of the best examples of land conservation policies in the country, the Agricultural Reserve encompasses 93,000 contiguous acres – almost a third of the country's land. Today, the Reserve comprises hundreds of working farms that produce a variety of products plus trails and parks for public use. Moreover, it provides habitat for wildlife, helps the region meet its clean water commitments to the Chesapeake Bay, hosts educational field trips for schools and is a hub of agritourism, and much more, all within 30 minutes of Washington, DC. Kristina Bostick is Senior Conservation Associate at the Montgomery Countryside Alliance (https://www.mocoalliance.org/). She grew up in Montgomery County (hiking Sugarloaf every year on her birthday) and has returned after a number of years in North Carolina where she earned her Masters in Public Administration and worked on numerous environmental issues, including stormwater mitigation and greening local governments. Kristina values all the ways the Ag Reserve benefits the Chesapeake Bay region but nothing beats the excitement of a weekly CSA box or the first peaches of summer, all grown right here! Patrick Heizer is a simple guy. He is a husband and a father who is a research & development biomedical engineer at AstraZeneca and a permaculture farmer in Frederick County, Maryland. He writes The Counterpoint substack and can be found on Twitter @PatrickHeizer (https://twitter.com/PatrickHeizer). Montgomery Countryside Alliance is a small (but mighty!) nonprofit organization dedicated to the protection of Montgomery County's 40-year commitment to thriving farms - the Agricultural Reserve. The Reserve is a unique zoning framework that has prioritized growth near transit and keeping small family farms on the landscape near a busy metro area. July Is BIPOC Mental Health Month and Youturn Health wants to recognize mental health advocate Dejr Bostick and highlight the incredible work he is doing.According to Black Health Matters, "Depression among Black men is an oft-unspoken pain that deeply affects the health and quality of life of Black people. In fact, the most current review of evidence on Black men and depression suggests a prevalence of five percent to 10 percent. This figure may be much larger, as depression is commonly underdiagnosed. Even more, the failure to adequately address the roots of Black male depression is undermining our communities and keeping us blind to the deep harm of historical and structural racism.Dejr Bostick is on a mission to reduce stigma and encourage black men to take care of their mental health through an organization he founded called Black Men Meditate.Dejr Bostick, born in Miami, Florida, is a college-educated Marine veteran and one of nine children. Known as the "human spirit whisperer," he has devoted 15 years to understanding human behavior and the impact of meditation and mindfulness on personal transformation. In 2018, Bostick founded Black Men Meditate to provide a safe space for men of color facing stress, anxiety, systemic racism, and societal biases. He is also a recognized financial leader with over 15 years of experience in financial management and consultation. Bostick believes that success in both business and life can be achieved through a focused and attentive mind, which he has achieved through his practice of meditation and mindfulness. He has worked with educational institutions to create mindfulness programs and has spoken at events such as the Clemson University National Men of Color Summit, the Global Society of Engineers, and education centers. He currently runs transformation programs for black male professionals. https://www.instagram.com/blkmenmeditate/?hl=en
Read a book titled "Unseen Void" and absorb its essence to embody it fully. The book highlights the notion that one's knowledge is limited, emphasizing the existence of countless things yet to be discovered, particularly the imperceptible gaps in the journey of starting a business. Unless you hail from a lineage akin to the Rockefellers, Fellows, or Trumps, or have the privilege of attending prestigious institutions like Harvard, where you encounter affluent peers with affluent parents, you, like me, may have attended a state school and faced financial hardships throughout your life. Consequently, you lack the invaluable insights and wisdom accumulated by the wealthy elite who came before you. Trump's success in constructing towering edifices stems from the foundation laid by Trump Senior, who diligently constructed a real estate empire, experienced failures, and learned from them over a century of industry experience. This invisible knowledge was then transmitted to his offspring. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-inventive-journey/message
This week's show would be approved by Dom Torreto because it is all about family. A wealthy father passes away leaving his inheritance to his three triplet daughters, but not without a catch. They must learn to work together to solve a riddle revealing the passcode to the family fortune. Support the Show! Be sure to #FillTheFedora on Patreon. Case Profile for The Hyena Robert Vesco is back and being pampered by Red in order to smooth over their relationship, and to convince Robert to join him on a little treasure hunt. The Pot of Gold is an encrypted digital wallet that can only be opened by retrieving the passcode, hidden in clues to a poem that was recited at the reading of the will of the late Warren Bostick. Turns out old Warren was tired of seeing his triplet daughters bicker and fight so he gave them each three clues that if the three of them worked together they could solve and claim the family fortune. As you would guess on of the triplets enlists the help of They Hyena to extract information from those closets to Warren including her sisters themselves. At the end of the day Red and Robert get the upper-hand on the Bostick heiress and claim the bitcoin bounty for themselves but not before leaving 1/3 of the spoils to the last remaining Bostick daughter. But all is not sacred in the now repaired bond between Red and Robert. A messenger from Wujing finds Robert now a free man and informs him that Red is the one that put him in Jail. If he would like to know the full story of Red's betrayal he should call Wujing for the answers. Be sure to answer our profiling question of the week: Will Robert Vesco turn on Red? Josh has quite the story to tell! He's 29 years old and was incorrectly diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes about a year ago after a visit to the ER. After being sent on his way with a prescription for Metformin, Josh began to research what was happening in his body and started to suspect that he had Type 1 diabetes. He later made an appointment with an endocrinologist and received the correct diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes. With the correct diagnosis in hand, Josh began researching how to better manage his blood sugars. Through his research, he stumbled upon fasting as he was attempting to dial in his basal rates. Once he discovered fasting, he realized that he had found an invaluable tool to better manage his blood sugars. Through fasting, he was able to bring his A1c down from 13.4 at diagnosis to 4.9, which is astounding!Josh is someone that is very on top of his health and he imparts a lot of great knowledge in this episode. He also delves quite a bit into his mindset around his new diagnosis. I hope you enjoy this very heartfelt and inspirational story!
