St. Johns County approves townhomes project, REAL ID enforcement starts today, and the Airport Authority wants the state to give them money.
Aviation is at a crossroads. On one side is the familiarity of legacy systems, including decades-old air traffic control infrastructure and manual ground operations. On the other is the promise of digital transformation: smarter flight management, real-time operational insights, and seamless passenger experiences driven by advanced technologies. With many organisations currently caught in the middle, the challenge is to know where to start. In this month's Altitude, we're joined by three people who know. Marco Rueckert is Searidge Technologies' Chief Technology Officer. He shares insights into the pioneering work Searidge is doing around the world, working with airports, airlines and ANSPS to harness the power of data to improve operational outcomes. That includes in Hong Kong, where Michelle Ho was the Manager of Airfield Digital Transformation for the Airport Authority. Hong Kong's revolutionary embrace of technology has helped set a benchmark for other airports around the world. Michelle shares her experience in deploying the airport's award-winning Digital Apron and Tower Management System, and working in its state-of-the-art Integrated Airport Centre.Andy Taylor, Chief Solutions Officer at NATS, will explore what's happening in the UK, with both Manchester and Farnborough airports set to introduce ‘hybrid towers' to enhance their operations, while also explaining how NATS and Searidge are exploring the use of AI at Heathrow to improve operational resilience. You can also watch an on demand version of the livestream on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@NatsAero
It's general election day in Lincoln, where voters are deciding on four school board seats, three city council seats and one spot on the Airport Authority. Also on the ballot is a measure that seeks to bar landlords from denying renters based solely on their source of income. Nebraska Public Media's Jackie Ourada spoke with reporter Brian Beach on the Capital City's election.

The Lancaster airport is the third busiest airport in the State of Pennsylvania. Ed Foster is the Executive Director of the Lancaster Authority Airport, says more changes are underway to the airport. “We are ramping up for our launch of the nonstop service with British Airways. This coming Tuesday, we have an exciting time lined up, the flight is we have bookings, we have people coming inbound from Orlando, which is great. And we have about 60 people confirmed on the outbound. So, bookings are looking good.” The airport is also adding a baggage screening area, a secure passenger line, while adding a restroom. Foster believes these new additions to the airport will impact passengers in a positive way. “I think it will make travel easier for the passengers that normally would have to drive an hour and a half or two hours to competing airports. Puts a lot less time on the road for those passengers that choose to fly out of here.” Support WITF: https://www.witf.org/support/give-now/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel sued the Gerald R. Ford International Airport Authority over alleged PFAS contamination. The lawsuit claims the airport authority is liable for previous releases of PFAS-containing firefighting material known as aqueous film-forming foams, under Part 201 of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act, as well as for violations of its National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Permit. According to the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, PFAS are man-made chemicals often used in industry and consumer products worldwide since the 1940s, including in nonstick cookware, water-repellent clothing, stain-resistant fabrics and carpets and some cosmetics. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/michigan-in-focus/support

When organizations or cities innovate, more often than not, the reason is to provide a better experience for the people. Taking this to one of the busiest facilities in any parts of the world, Abhijit Verekar talks to Trevis Gardner, the Vice President of Operations for the Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority in Knoxville, Tennessee and the CIO for the Airport Authority. Here, Trevis shares with us how he spearheaded airport innovation in his city, giving us a view of their projects, which aim to help end-users, and the tools they use to help their teams navigate. Speaking as a leader pushing for a long term strategy for technology, he then discusses how he finds the balance between risk-taking and risk-averse. Trevis further gives out some words of wisdom for those who want to incorporate technology into their business strategy.Love the show?
