This is Sandy Ronalds for Female Startup Club.Hi everyone and welcome back to the show! It's Doone here, your host and hype girl! If you've just found us - we are SO grateful and happy to have you here. Every week we're learning from some of the world's most brilliant minds in business. Like the founder of NAT'V Basics, Sandy Ronalds. Sandy launched her biz in 2019 and in the last year alone sold 600,000 units from a few simple strategies. This story speaks to the power of spotting a clear gap in the market, proving out the concept, and going for it.In this episode, Sandy shares her blueprint for making your business make business sense. In the dreaming phase, determine your why and know what your purpose is going to be for the brand through building brand pillars (these pillars have nothing to do with the end product but are about why you are joining us rather than another brand). In the building phase, consistently communicate the dreaming phase; it's one thing knowing something yourself, and it's another when it clearly comes across (pumping socials with the why's and the purpose of the brand so you attract those who naturally align with your brand). In the day-to-day, Sandy still runs the nat'v basics IG intimately; she gets to know you and you get to know the real essence of the brand. It's key to remember here that your why doesn't have to be grandiose. It can be as simple as brightening someone's day, making them feel confident, or offering a sustainable solution. Before we jump into today's episode I want to quickly mention the Girl Code that we introduced a few episodes back! The gist is that it's a very loose and casual deal where if you love what we're doing over here and we bring you some value or a smile or a gem of insight, you take a tiny action every time you listen to one of our episodes. Whether that's by leaving us a review, or sharing this episode on social media - basically anything that helps us reach more ears and keep growing. This is Kristel de Groot for Female Startup Club.Hi everyone and welcome back to the show! It's Doone here, your host and hype girl! If you're a small business owner or an entrepreneur listening to this episode - you probably know how hard it can be to generate revenue - it's bloody tough! you might have just started and made a few sales… you might have made a few thousand dollars in sales or maybe even a few hundred thousand - hell maybe you've made multi 7 figures in sales! Now imagine scaling your business to hitting $200 million in revenue. Imagine what that would look like from a supply chain point of view, a product development pov, the investment point of view. That's what Kristel de Groote did - all while she was in her 20's. I know. Wild. Today's episode is a reminder that when you stick it out for the long run, when you have a real purpose and drive to change the world - magical things can happen. Kristel built her company, Your Super, alongside her partner Michael in their early 20s after Michael battled cancer. They built it to $200m in revenue and then sold it to the Healing Company in 2022 for an undisclosed amount. This story starts with humble beginnings and it ends with so many brilliant learnings, I hope you love it as much as I do!I particularly love the part of this episode where we talk about the bottleneck in your business. You are the bottleneck of your business. Some of the greatest growth that you will see happen in your company comes at times when you work on your personal growth. And by personal growth, I don't mean having all the answers. It's knowing that not knowing is your superpower. It's knowing that you don't need to know step 100 when you're at step 1. It's wholeheartedly finding peace with yourself when you are: on a seat at the table that you have built yourself.Let's get into today's episode, this is Kristel for Female Startup Club.LINKS WE MENTION:kristelandmichael.comyoursuper.comYour Super's InstagramKristel and Michael's InstagramHow I Built This PodcastJoin the FSC CLUB & Ask Your Questions: www.facebook.com/groups/femalestartupclubJoin thousands of small business owners who are reading our newsletter every Monday at: www.femalestartupclub.com Join our tool and private community for small business owners, Majic [formerly known as Hype Club]Female Startup Club's InstagramDoone's InstagramDoone's TikTokSay hello to Doone: hello@femalestartupclub.com Hosted on Acast. This is Samantha Brett for Female Startup Club.Naked Sundays is an Australian SPF brand aimed at inspiring the next generation to love and wear SPF every single day with fun, easy to use sunscreens. This is a really inspiring story and we're going to break down her secrets to success, what makes a brand pop and what you need to know about regulations when building a sunscreen brand.I absolutely loved hearing about why Samantha decided to keep this venture a secret from the public for 9 months. She realized that sunscreen is complex, it's made by chemists, and she's not going to be the one in the kitchen mixing this herself. Instead she's getting someone to make the best of the best, but will anyone really take it seriously with her name on the brand? So she didn't tell anyone about being a founder. This is the first time I've heard of something like this on the show, and I find it such an interesting approach. Samantha didn't want people to think that I was just doing this for the sake of it.Another part that made this journey a little more complicated than manufacturing your regular beauty products, is that there is a strong barrier to entry in the sunscreen space. It is classed as a medication in Australia and classed as a drug in America. Those are things to really think about before diving into the space. Even when it comes to advertising rules, you should put on a warning *reapply regularly*, on social media, podcasts, influencers, the whole mix. You can't give a testimonial. It's pretty crazy stuff.Let's get straight into this episode, this is Samantha for Female Startup Club**Avoid prolonged sun exposure, make sure you re-apply frequently in accordance with directions. Remember, sunscreen is only one component of sun protection so always wear a hat, protective clothing and eyewear when you're in the sun.LINKS WE MENTION:Naked Sundays' InstagramSamantha's InstagramJoin the FSC CLUB & Ask Your Questions: www.facebook.com/groups/femalestartupclubJoin thousands of small business owners who are reading our newsletter every Monday at: www.femalestartupclub.com Join our tool and private community for small business owners, Majic [formerly known as Hype Club]Female Startup Club's InstagramDoone's InstagramDoone's TikTokSay hello to Doone: hello@femalestartupclub.com Hosted on Acast. This is Jane Lu for Female Startup Club.Hi everyone and welcome back to the show! It's Doone here, your host and hype girl! If you've just found us - welcome welcome welcome. Every week we're learning from some of the world's most brilliant minds in business. Like Jane Lu, the founder of Showpo. Jane's story is so inspiring and full of ups and downs and what really stood out to me was her sheer determination to succeed and the absolute resilience to keep going no matter what because failure just wasn't an option. I came off this episode feeling so inspired and I know you will too. Jane is the queen of building a business while having some serious fun along the way and she shares so many gems to building her biz to $100m in revenue in this episode! Stick around to the end where she shares some of her crazy stories!A great piece of advice in this episode came down to putting in place systems and processes that will mean that you can then start hiring people to work in the business, so you can start working on the business; it's the first step. It's so hard for an entrepreneur because you're so busy doing it that you don't want to slow down and think about systems, but you've got to think about the bigger picture. Build that foundation. From there on, you can start hiring for your weaknesses. Hiring people to work on the business, people to bounce ideas off. Understanding what you don't like and what your blind spots are. A bit of outsourcing but also in-housing.Let's get into today's episode, this is Jane for Female Startup Club.LINKS WE MENTION:Showpo's InstagramThe Lazy CEO's InstagramThe Lazy CEO Business CourseJoin the FSC CLUB & Ask Your Questions: www.facebook.com/groups/femalestartupclubJoin thousands of small business owners who are reading our newsletter every Monday at: www.femalestartupclub.com Join our tool and private community for small business owners, Majic [formerly known as Hype Club]Female Startup Club's InstagramDoone's InstagramDoone's TikTokSay hello to Doone: hello@femalestartupclub.com Hosted on Acast. This is Ju Rhyu for Female Startup Club.Hi everyone and welcome back to the show! It's Doone here, your host and hype girl! Every week on the Female Startup Club podcast I interview some of the world's most successful founders and women in business to understand their blueprint to success. And today you're going to meet someone very very special. Ju Rhyu. She's the founder of a company called Hero Cosmetics. Now we had Ju on the show back in 2020 - pandemic - when I was London based - feels like a lifetime apart from today - to share her journey in starting the business - and if you didn't hear that episode I highly recommend you go back and listen to it because Ju took a very interesting path to launching Hero and it's well worth a listen, with so many interesting gems and mini tactics we can all take note of. But today we're digging into something VERY different and exciting and crazy. It's her path to acquisition. We often hear on the show from entrepreneurs who have raised millions of dollars and are in the middle of the journey but last year in 2022 Ju sold her business, for $630 million dollars. That is more than half a billion dollars. Wow. And it's rare that we get to learn from someone who's actually pulled this off at this scale. This conversation is so insightful and as always Ju shares it all. So buckle up - because we're in for a real treat today.Alrighty let's do this! This is Jash Mehta for Female Startup Club.Hello and welcome back to the show! It's Doone here - your host and hype girl. Today on the show we're learning from Jash Mehta, founder of Pop & Bottle. Pop & Bottle was inspired when Jash Mehta and her close friend Blair Hardy made the move from the London to California meeting for their daily ritual - the morning latte. As coffee lovers who also prioritized health, the two friends asked themselves why nothing on the grocery store shelves met their standards: clean label, dairy-free, no refined sugar, and organic. Jash co-founded Pop & Bottle from a genuine desire to create quality coffee and tea beverages she wanted in her own life — and make them available to the millions of people who share in her passion for clean, healthful, high-integrity products. We talk through her early blueprint which his still super relevant to today and how she expanded from 30 to 100 stores and then onto 10,000. Launched in 2017 in the United Kingdom, Form Nutrition was born when Co-Founders Natalia Bojanic and Damian Soong started rethinking their habits and the effects diet has on health and the climate. Form's 100% plant-based protein powders and responsibly-sourced nootropics are backed by science and were designed with optimal performance in mind. From performance and muscle growth to improving sleep and cognitive support, Form's unique suite of plant-based products are impact-driven to support overall health and wellness and empower individuals to meet their unique goals. We're talking through so many different things today like the practice of building a meditation habit with a very practical tip to getting started if you're someone like me who is so on again and off again with meditation. Something else I reallyy love about this episode is when we touch on when to quit and why that shouldn't be seen as a failure. I do this constantly in my life and it's such a powerful way to move towards your strengths and superpowers, and away from the things that drain you. And finally, we talk through some simple marketing strategies and mindsets that everyone could implement into their business tomorrow.Let's get into today's episode, this is Natalia for Female Startup Club.LINKS WE MENTION:Form Nutrition's InstagramNatalia's InstagramShoe Dog BookJoin the FSC CLUB & Ask Your Questions: www.facebook.com/groups/femalestartupclubJoin thousands of small business owners who are reading our newsletter every Monday at: www.femalestartupclub.com Join our tool and private community for small business owners, Majic [formerly known as Hype Club]Female Startup Club's InstagramDoone's InstagramDoone's TikTokSay hello to Doone: hello@femalestartupclub.com Hosted on Acast. This is Jess Hatzis-Walker for Female Startup Club.Hello and welcome back to the show! It's Doone here - your host and hype girl sliding into your ears with a new episode on the Female Startup Club podcast. If you're new here, hi! Welcome! Every week we interview some of the world's most exciting and successful founders and entrepreneurs - who happen to be women. Like Jess Hatzis-Walker. One of the co-founders behind the iconic skincare brand, Frank Bod. Frank Bod started a decade ago back in 2013 and through their strong original branding and an innovative approach to marketing grew it from $0-$100m+ business. In this episode, we chat through what shifted the needle in scaling this brand, how early-stage founders should think about brand and Marketing in today's world, and what Jess would do if she was starting it all again tomorrow.I love the part of this episode where we dive into just how easy it is to get stuck in old habits, even when that's the total opposite of what you should be focusing on. It's easy over time to get set in your ways and rinse and repeat things. But as founders, we have got to remember: the only thing scarier than a new idea is an old one. It's this idea that guides a lot of Frank Body's decision-making. When it comes down to it, a lot of money makes people lazy and stupid. Your best campaigns will be done on a shoestring budget. Have fun with it!Let's jump in, this is Jess for Female Startup Club.LINKS WE MENTION:Willow & Blake's InstagramFrank Body's InstagramJessica's InstagramMy Millenial Money PodcastShe's on the Money PodcastMy Millenial Investor PodcastTo Be Magnetic PodcastJoin the FSC CLUB & Ask Your Questions: www.facebook.com/groups/femalestartupclubJoin thousands of small business owners who are reading our newsletter every Monday at: www.femalestartupclub.com Join our tool and private community for small business owners, Majic [formerly known as Hype Club]Female Startup Club's InstagramDoone's InstagramDoone's TikTokSay hello to Doone: hello@femalestartupclub.com Hosted on Acast. This is Aasiyah Abdulsalam for Female Startup Club.I'm really excited to be sharing this episode today, It's with Aasiyah Abdulsalam and she's the founder of a company called The Renatural and the inventor of her first patented product - The Wig Fix. It's a product that's used by anyone who wears wigs and it's been a total game changer for so many women (and men!) around the world. 77,000 to be precise.Aasiyah talks through her scrappy approach to marketing and finding her first thousand customers, the process to patenting a new product and her experience with raising capital.Diving into the world of business and entrepreneurship has taught this first-time founder one very important lesson: you have to be shameless in order to succeed. Shamelessly ask, shamelessly promote, and shamelessly challenge the status quo."There's no such thing as a dumb question. You have to be shameless in order to grow." If you've ever been made to feel like you're asking a stupid question, you're probably asking the wrong person. The right partners, business or not, will make space for the seemingly silly questions to be answered with consideration and patience. Because there is no such thing as a silly question. Every question is valid, girl. This is Monica Grohne for Female Startup Club.Today on the podcast, we're learning from Monica Grohne. Monica is the Founder & CEO of Marea - a menstrual wellness company supporting you with the foundational nutrition needed for healthier, happier cycles. Monica spent 17 years struggling with PMDD before discovering the life changing benefits that nutrition could have on helping her live without the cyclical roller coaster. And I LOVE this episode. Monica has built the business to $50k monthly revenue without spending a cent on paid ads and this is a really important conversation around building your business and proving the concept before you start to invest in paid growth. She also shares some great marketing tactics she's been using recently! And while I've got you here I've also updated the grant doc with a bunch of new grants all over the world that are ready to be applied for this month and you can download it by going to femalestartupclub.com/grants. This is Laura Katz for Female Startup ClubHello everyone and welcome back to the show! It's Doone here - your host and hype girl.On today's episode we're chatting with Laura Katz. Laura is the founder of a company called Helaina. They "teach" yeast to replicate these human proteins using precision fermentation. Isn't that amazing? God I love modern science and technology! Laura has always been obsessed with food and her career followed that true love and passion into food science. In this episode we talk through Laura's big lightbulb moment, how she approached raising capital with no network and no experience in her early 20s and how you get a big idea like this through to commercialisation. This is Pascale Heylar-Moray for Female Startup ClubHello everyone and welcome back to the show! It's Doone here - your host and hype girl.Today on the show we're chatting with Pascale from Grow My Money (previously known as Super Rewards). Did you know that in Australia 1 in 3 single women retire in poverty, and 1 in 6 women overall retire into poverty. That's a very scary and very real stat. Now there's multiple factors that play into that statistic but one of them has to do with our superannuation. If you're listening in from outside of Australia - superannuation is kind of like a 401k in America, or your state pension in the UK. Over the course of your career, your employee puts money into something you can't touch until you retire - and that money significantly grows over the course of 30+ years so that when you retire, you have a chunk of cash to live off. Simply put. And men retire with almost double the superannuation kitty than women do. And with that in mind Pascale wanted to do something about it.
