"Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ." 1C0 11:1 NIVYour mentor should not only demonstrate professional excellence and possess skills from which you can learn, but must also be someone who displays character qualities worth imitating. Bernie Madoff was one of the most admired and sought-after brokers on Wall Street. That is, until he ended up in prison for perpetrating a multibillion dollar Ponzi scheme that devastated the lives of individuals, companies, and even governments. Numerous actors, athletes, political leaders, and business executives today attempt to deny their position as role models when people are already following them and imitating their conduct. They would like people to distinguish between their personal behavior and their professional life, but such separation cannot really be made.As you search for role models and mentors, examine their personal lives as thoroughly as their public performance. Your values will be shaped by theirs, so don't be casual or careless about whom you decide to follow. Paul writes, "Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ." You must be sure that the person in whose footsteps you are following is following in the footsteps of Christ. Why is this so important? Because there will be an audit! Whatever you have spent your life building will be evaluated at the judgment seat of Christ, and you will be rewarded accordingly. "Each one's work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one's work, of what sort it is. If anyone's work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone's work is burned, he will suffer loss" (1Co 3:13-15 NKJV).Support the Show.Changing Lives | Building Strong Family | Impacting Our Community For Jesus Christ!

"Let me teach you." Mt 11:29 NLTJesus said, "I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it" (Mt16:18). When He spoke those words, the religious leaders of His day were plotting His death, the society in which He lived was controlled by the might of Rome, and His followers were common people. Humanly speaking, what He promised was audacious, and the possibilities of it happening were zero. Nevertheless, it came to pass. Two thousand years later, He is the most quoted author in the world, and our values are based on the principles He taught. How did He do it?By mentoring others. So when looking for a mentor, try to find someone who exemplifies the qualities and character Jesus displayed."Then Jesus said, 'Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light'" (Mt 11:28-30 NLT). Jesus used an agricultural illustration His listeners would understand. To get the highest productivity out of an ox, the yoke around its neck had to be a comfortable fit. And a good mentor is someone who understands you and knows what is the right fit for your temperament and talents. A mentor is an extra pair of eyes and ears and that always has your best interests at heart. When you think about it, having the right mentor is one of the best investments you can make in your future.Support the Show.Changing Lives | Building Strong Family | Impacting Our Community For Jesus Christ!

Victory Temple Chantilly's Podcast

"Then He said to them, 'Follow Me..."" Mt4:19 NKJVMost people who decide to grow personally find their first mentors in the pages of books. That is a great place to start. For that matter, it's a great place to continue. And the wisdom that's found in Scripture makes the Bible the best mentor's manual ever written. If you are not reading it daily, you are robbing yourself of the greatest source of inspiration and illumination. And at some point, if you're wise, you will also look for a role model to mentor you. No matter how gifted and experienced you are, you will go further with the right mentor than you will on your own. Jesus, the greatest mentor of all, discipled a group of men who changed the world forever. "And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. Then He said to them,'Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.' They immediately left their nets and followed Him. Going on from there, He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets.He called them, and immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him" (vv.18-22 KJV). Note the words "follow Me, and I will make you..." Just as the right mentor can make you, the wrong mentor can break you.So you need to pray about this. Then you must do something about it. Why? Because if you follow only yourself, you may find yourself going in circles and getting nowhere.Support the Show.Changing Lives | Building Strong Family | Impacting Our Community For Jesus Christ!

Listen to today's podcast... A successful mentor is someone who sees how remarkable you can be and constantly holds that image for you. We all need someone to hold that mirror for us – And we need to be able to hold that mirror for someone else. Who can you reach out to for that boost and who around you could use that lift? Take One Action Today To Build Your #Resiliency!      Tips For Building Resiliency and Celebrating National Mentoring Month: Mentoring is a learning relationship where someone more experienced puts time and energy into a less experienced person's development. Successful mentors know that they need to focus on nurturing the person, not just performance. Since mentees may be reluctant to expose their shortcomings to a superior, the mentor needs to demonstrate it's safe to do so. The strongest relationships are based on mutual respect and as a mentor, you don't just want to be a solution provider.  Discern when it is appropriate to offer a direct answer versus when it's better to coach a mentee through their question or problem. As a mentee, clarify your goals: explain to your mentor what you want from your career, and from mentoring. Strong mentoring programs not only provide support for new hires but also help create an open, inviting culture that emboldens all workers to contribute their ideas for improving the company. On this week's episode, You'll learn how to get connected to others in real estate and build a track record in this conversation with Shawn DiMartile. Shawn is a real estate investor based in San Diego with more than 300 rental units, a boutique hotel, and several Airbnbs, with a cumulative value of more than $50 million. He is also host of the podcast The Real Estate Takeoff and co-founder of Takeoff Capital. Shawn is a U.S. Navy veteran and worked as an air traffic controller prior to investing in real estate. During his time as an air traffic controller, Shawn found he lacked time freedom, often working six days a week and putting in long hours. After looking into real estate, he liquidated his 401(k) to partner with his now business associate on a 32-unit apartment property located in Indiana. The investment presented several challenges, though within two years, they were able to triple the value of the asset and sell for a substantial profit. The experience left an impression on Shawn and motivated him to further pursue real estate investing. Recognizing the need for guidance to scale his efforts, Shawn found a mentor who had been an accomplished apartment investor for more than two decades and had a portfolio with 8,000 units. Shawn went on to syndicate his first 150-unit multifamily property in 2021. Just two months later, he syndicated a 145-unit multifamily property. With an eye for San Diego, Shawn recognized the historic limitations for investors based on low cap rates and landlord tenant laws. However, when San Diego implemented its ADU (Accessory Dwelling Unit) Bonus program to resolve its housing crisis, Shawn found an opportunity to create a niche and build additional rental units on properties. He outlines his investment strategy in his ebook “California Gold.” During the episode, Shawn encourages listeners to overcome the fear of making mistakes when starting out, and to look for ways to contribute when connecting with others. “Become friends and surround yourself with real estate in every way you can,” he shares. “Then start as early as you can to provide value to other people.” You can connect with Shawn through Instagram and his website Investor Shawn. I recommend thoroughly going and speaking to as many business owners as possible, especially experienced ones. If you can, try to find a mentor or coach who can support you, because otherwise, it can be a struggle. I had a great business in web design, and while we eventually became successful, it took us seven or eight years of struggle to get there. If I had sought out books to read, spoken to mentors, and involved business coaches in our operations earlier, I think we would have achieved success much faster. I realize this advice may sound clichéd, and I may be biased. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-inventive-journey/message

Mentor relationships (much like networking) is something that we all know we should be pursuing for professional success, but can often be anxiety inducing.  However so many of the same networking principles that we utilize can also apply to the search for your next mentor. But how to get started?  The first place to look is at your current professional network.  Is there anyone in your network with whom you would be interested in pursuing a mentor relationship?  No matter who you are you have a network.  You have friends and family, friends of people in your family.  You have had employers, coworkers, teachers, and professors.  These are easy places to look for a prospective mentor. What if you do not think that anyone you already know fits the bill?  Try looking one step out from your direct network.  Is there anyone in your school, ideal practice area, or general profession that you are aware of but maybe do not know?  If so, then look for a connection point.  Is there someone you know who could make an introduction?  Are they presenting at a conference that you are going to attend?  Is there a way that you could meet them in a professional setting to begin to develop that relationship? But maybe you are not sure who you would like to develop a mentor relationship with because you do not know what you are looking for.  Here are three simple ways to brainstorm to find your ideal mentor:1. Make a list.A simple list of qualities or attributes in your ideal mentor is a simply place to begin.  As you work it is likely that the person you are looking for will come into focus.2. Vision board.A vision board can be a great brainstorming tool to help you break through a barrier.  Whether with actual paper or digitally, a vision board can help you identify who you are truly seeking.3. Nurture your existing network.Select two or three people in your existing network.  For whatever reason you may not think they are candidate for your mentor.  But, developing your relationship with them may either change your view or help you learn more about them so you can connect to a prospective mentor in their network. As you grow, if you have the opportunity to become a mentor for someone else - take it!LWL Design Shop on Etsy use code LWLPOD for 15% off your purchaseNothing contained within this podcast is intended or should be construed to be legal advice and does not create any attorney client relationship. Welcome to the Go + Tell Gals Podcast! This season on the podcast, we want to answer the questions you're already asking. This episode, we are demystifying mentorship through a seemingly simple question: How do I find a mentor? Jess and GATG team member, Caroline, sit down and break down the differences between discipleship, counseling, coaching and mentorship, and the value of the wisdom surrounding us through other women. Whether you've been seeking a formal mentorship relationship or not, this episode strengthens our relationship with other women we hold closely. Each woman on mission has some kind of expertise, wisdom or insight in specific areas that you can humbly learn from, no matter your season of life. In these relationships, find the places where you can be honest without buttoning up your life because we are looking to surround ourselves with women whose life leads you more in awe of God, not in awe of them. Formal or not, mentorship is just women walking each other home in the name of Jesus. Let's keep going. He is mighty in you. Don't miss: If the idea of mentorship makes you feel a sense of imposter syndrome, relisten to this podcast episode about breaking free from those expectations. You are not an imposter.
