We discuss the upcoming Auburn Regional and much more on the latest podcast!

The Southeastern 16 crew looks at the field of four in the Auburn Regional and gives our picks. Auburn rode great years from future MLB first-rounder Ike Irish and ace Sam Dutton, as well as tremendous freshman campaigns from Chris Rembert and Chase Fralick to the No 4 overall host, not to mention the usual steady year from Cooper McMurray. But Dutton faltered down the stretch as he far surpassed last year's inning total. Can an Auburn pitching staff of Cam Tilly, Carson Myers, Ryan Hetzler, Parker Carlson and others carry Auburn out of a tough regional (something coach Butch Thompson has done several times before)? North Carolina State, under coach Elliott Avent, has consistently performed well in the NCAA tournament. Josh Hogue and Brayden Fraasman provide the power for a team that strikes out just 15% of the time. Stetson didn't hit much--just 46 home runs this season--but ace Jonathan Gonzalez is one of the tournament's tougher lefty starters, and a bullpen duo of Ty VanDyke and Jake Gorelick tough. Can the Hatters pitch their way out of the regional? Central Connecticut is one of the weakest at-large teams in the field by the computers, but did post a .331/.437/.503 batting line as a team. Does any of that translate to the regional? It'll need Wyatt Cameron, Vincent Borghese and others to step up.

Welcome to the Monday, June 6th edition of Noles News Now, your home for everything happening in Florida State athletics here on the Tomahawk Nation podcast network. I'm your host Brian Pellerin. Thanks for starting your week with us. The biggest headline heading into today comes on a sad note as the Florida State baseball team's season has come to an end in the Auburn Regional. The Noles opened the weekend with a victory over UCLA on Friday afternoon. Parker Messick took the win in that one holding the Bruins to 2 runs over 5 innings. The bullpen chipped in 4 one-run innings to close it out. The winner's bracket game on Saturday though, wasn't as successful for the Noles on the hill as Auburn wallopped Florida State to a 21-7 final score... Yeah, it sounds like a football score. Four errors in that one didn't exactly help the Seminoles either. Regardless, they'd need one hell of arun on Sunday to keep the season alive, but they couldn't find the bats in the elimination game against UCLA as the Bruins got revenge and sent them packing with a 2-1final. The Noles who were top 15 in the preseason polls ended up as one of the last teams into the tournament and taking third place in the regional... a long shoutfrom where they hoped the season would end. We're still about 2 months from football season, but the recruiting year never stops. For Mike Norvell's group, it's camp time. Saturday started with the annual elite Camp. The goal is a pretty simple one — get some of the nation's top prospects on campus for workouts... meet the coaches and tour the facilities. The group that came to Tallahassee included every 2023 commit including 5-star running back Kam Davis, 4-star Q-B Chris Parson, and 3-star Q-B Luke Kromenhook. Parson did announce while speaking with the media that he plans on taking some official visits to other schools for the first time since committing to FSU so something to keep an eye on. As we counting down to the start of the season, the Seminole Wrap podcast crew including yours truly, Jon Marchant, and Max Escarpio took a look at the five most important players for Florida State this year. That's not necessarily the 5 best players but the 5 that will need to play a big role if this team hopes to take a step forward in 2022. We get some good back and forth in a 20-30 minute episode. I think it's a fun listen so give it a shot and let us know who you think we may have missed. The Noles opened the weekend with a victory over UCLA on Friday afternoon. Parker Messick took the win in that one holding the Bruins to 2 runs over 5 innings. The bullpen chipped in 4 one-run innings to close it out. The winner's bracket game on Saturday though, wasn't as successful for the Noles on the hill as Auburn wallopped Florida State to a 21-7 final score... Yeah, it sounds like a football score. Four errors in that one didn't exactly help the Seminoles either. Regardless, they'd need one hell of arun on Sunday to keep the season alive, but they couldn't find the bats in the elimination game against UCLA as the Bruins got revenge and sent them packing with a 2-1final. The Noles who were top 15 in the preseason polls ended up as one of the last teams into the tournament and taking third place in the regional... a long shoutfrom where they hoped the season would end. We're still about 2 months from football season, but the recruiting year never stops. For Mike Norvell's group, it's camp time. Saturday started with the annual elite Camp. The goal is a pretty simple one — get some of the nation's top prospects on campus for workouts... meet the coaches and tour the facilities. The group that came to Tallahassee included every 2023 commit including 5-star running back Kam Davis, 4-star Q-B Chris Parson, and 3-star Q-B Luke Kromenhook. Parson did announce while speaking with the media that he plans on taking some official visits to other schools for the first time since committing to FSU so something to keep an eye on. As we counting down to the start of the season, the Seminole Wrap podcast crew including yours truly, Jon Marchant, and Max Escarpio took a look at the five most important players for Florida State this year. That's not necessarily the 5 best players but the 5 that will need to play a big role if this team hopes to take a step forward in 2022. We get some good back and forth in a 20-30 minute episode. The 2016 softball season was voted the greatest moment in Jacksonville State's 25-year Division I history. That year's squad went 26-0 in Ohio Valley Conference play, claimed the title in the OVC Championships and won two games in the Auburn Regional. Head coach Jana McGinnis was named the league's Coach of the Year and then-senior Ella Denes was named OVC Player of the Year. Both join Tyler Brown for episode 23 to recap the memorable season.
