In this episode of 'Past Tens,' hosts Dave and Milt take a heartfelt journey back to October 1996, expressing gratitude to listeners and paying tribute to a beloved fan, Tom Carey. The episode blends nostalgia with significant events such as the Dow Jones hitting a record high and the Yankees vs. Braves World Series. Then the duo tackles the elusive question of whether it's better to bathe in chocolate milk, cheese wiz or tapioca pudding. They delve into music from 1996, covering hits like Toni Braxton's 'You're Makin' Me High,' Quad City DJ's 'Come On and Ride It (The Train),' and Blackstreet's 'No Diggity.' The hosts reflect on pop culture, discussing movies, TV shows, and the impactful 'Macarena' phenomenon. With a mix of humor, personal stories, and musical insights, they conclude by rating songs from the week and inviting listener engagement.Topics01:12 Listener Appreciation and Milestones02:09 A Heartfelt Tribute to Tom Carrey07:11 Back to the Time Machine: October 199616:28 Top 10 Songs of October 199640:42 Alexa and Eric Clapton's 'Change the World'41:25 Eric Clapton's Last Top 10 Hit41:52 The Production and Lyrics of 'Change the World'43:20 The Phenomenon Soundtrack and Lyrics Debate44:09 Winona Judd's Version of 'Change the World'45:31 Captain EO and Disney Memories48:41 Keith Sweat's Career and 'Twisted'53:11 No Mercy's 'Where Do You Go' and Similarities to 'What is Love'58:37 Blackstreet's 'No Diggity' and Its Cultural Impact01:10:27 Trivia Time: Songs with 'No' in the Title01:17:51 Technical Difficulties and AI Music01:18:23 Nostalgia and Inside Jokes01:19:36 Celine Dion and Meatloaf Connection01:25:27 Ariana Grande's Impressions01:28:32 Shame Songs and Donna Lewis01:32:30 Macarena Mania01:42:30 Recap and Reflections01:46:17 Substitution and Garbage01:52:38 Rating the Week01:56:49 Closing Remarks and Farewell

We open the show this week as Jenners gets to brag about his Braves World Series ring, and jokes that he's catching up to Robert Horry, until Rob reveals that he got a ring with the 2020 Lakers so technically he has eight! Rob also thinks that the Minnesota Timberwolves over-celebrated their win in the play-in game, saying you have a long way to go to make any headway in the playoffs. Plus Rob and Jenners both have mixed opinions about the play-in system, and everyone has opinions about the Lakers failure to even make the play-in this season and in turn firing Frank Vogel. And Rob feels like Russell Westbrook needs to take accountability instead of blaming coaches, because he knew what his job would be on this Lakers roster when he joined the team. And we have to get Rob's stories from hanging out with Lakers legends during Kareem's 75th birthday, a shout out to Tiger Woods, a Big Shot Bob story that Rob flat-out denies, and a really nice Big Shot of the Week!

Welcome in Slumpbusters! In this edition of the Slumpbuster Podcast, Kyle and Ju-Ju talk some of the biggest headlines in the NFL, MLB and College Football. We start off today's podcast on a somber note as we give our reaction to the tragic Henry Ruggs III story. Ruggs was involved in a high-speed motor accident that resulted in the death of a 23-year old woman. Ruggs has since been charged with felony DUI resulting in death. Following the incident the Las Vegas Raiders made the decision to immediately release Ruggs. Ruggs posted bail on Thursday. #HenryRuggsIII Our next topic is on a cheerier note as we discuss the Atlanta Braves winning the World Series. We give our flowers to the Braves as we discuss them breaking the long talked about Atlanta sports curse. The Braves were led by World Series MVP Jorge Soler, Austin Reilly and longtime first basemen Freddie Freeman. What does the future hold for the Braves following their first World Series victory since 1995? (12:00) #Braves The NFL Trade Deadline was this past Tuesday and while it was a quiet deadline there were still some notable stories. Von Miller was traded to Los Angeles, will the Rams 'all-in' approach continue to prove successful? Odell Beckham Jr. was not traded, what is his future with the Cleveland Browns? What can we expect moving forward between Deshaun Watson, the Houston Texans and Miami Dolphins following his refusal to settle his civil suits to aid a trade to Miami? (19:45) #NFLNews Before diving back into NFL topics the guys give their reaction to the first College Football Playoff poll that was released this past Sunday. The CFP committee ranked the teams as follows 1. Georgia Bulldogs, 2. Alabama Crimson Tide, 3. Michigan State Spartans and 4. Oregon Ducks. On the outside looking in were the Ohio State Buckeyes, Oklahoma Sooners and Cincinnati Bearcats. Can any of these teams, including Wake Forrest, make a legitimate run at the National Championship? (36:30) #CollegeFootball Lastly the guys give their week nine NFL Predictions on the following five games (53:00): Cleveland Browns (+2.5) @ Cincinnati Bengals Minnesota Vikings (+6.0) @ Baltimore Ravens Arizona Cardinals (+2.0) @ San Francisco 49ers Green Bay Packers (+7.5) @ Kansas City Chiefs Tennessee Titans (+7.0) @ Los Angeles Rams Will Aaron Rodgers absence affect the Packers as they travel to Arrowhead? Will Kyler Murray suit up against the Niners? How will the TItans generate offense without Derrick Henry? Enjoy the Show! The Baseball Barista with Hunter Pence and Grant Brisbee are here to break down the Atlanta Braves winning the World Series for the first time since 1995. Braves take down the Astros in 6 games to win it all. It was a crazy up and down ride for the Braves with a slow start, injuries and everything else involved. They guys think this Braves team reminded them both a lot of the misfit Giants team that won the World Series. Hunter thinks if things were different, the Braves should've won it last season. The Trade Deadline was huge for the Braves to rebuild their outfield after start Ronald Acuna Jr got hurt. The guys think the unsung hero of the Braves World Series championship is their bullpen. Freddie Freeman has been a great leader for the Braves and the guys talk about if they think Atlanta will resign him this offseason. And Hunter talks about the amazing feeling of winning a World Series Championship and how crazy the parades were that he was apart of with the Giants in San Francisco.Follow Hunter on Twitter: @hunterpenceFollow Grant on Twitter: @GrantBrisbeeSave 33% on a subscription to The Athletic at theathletic.com/baseballshow Hosted on Acast.
