We talk to Rob on this week’s bonus show about he felt about getting passed over for the Hall of Fame, and he says he didn’t think it would happen on his first ballot anyway but he was disappointed by not moving on. Jenners also brings up Stephen A’s top contenders to take on the Celtics largely because the Lakers made the list at #3, and Rob feels like they would need a lot of things to go right for them to get there this year. We all agree that we’d like to see OKC take on Boston for the title this year, and a Cavs-Celtics Eastern Conference Finals would be amazing. After Steph’s “night-night” photo dropped from the Olympics last week, we get into our favorite NBA photos of all time… even though Rob says that HIS shot over the Pistons is his all time favorite. Rob jokes about how everyone in LeBron’s scoring record photo had their phone out, which takes us down the road of the merits of taking photos in a big moment or just trying to enjoy it while you were there. And after Channing Frye said nostalgia is killing the NBA, we debate about how the game should and should not be compared to previous eras of basketball. And Rob takes some accountability about creating the shot-heavy NBA as a big man who shot a lot of threes. How would B-Dog due as an NBA Ambassador? What would you do if you had to sit next to a dead woman, like what happened this week on a Qatar Airlines flight? The craziest stories of the week close out this long bonus show this week.

It's show #200!!! And Rob and Jenners are joined by the ENTIRE Spectrum Sportsnet Los Angeles crew - including the Hall of Famer Big Game James Worthy, LA Times writer Broderick Turner, and studio hosts Allie Clifton, Mike Bresnahan and Chris Geeter McGee - all at the same time! Rob did not make the list of Hall of Fame Finalists this year, so we start by asking James Worthy about what it was like when he got the call - and he jokes that he didn't make it until his third try and the first two let downs really upset him. Then we get into the mess that was the 2025 NBA All-Star Game, as James and BT feel like it would just be better to go back to the original East-West format and play for either pride or home court advantage. Allie Clifton weighs in (from the parking lot at Spectrum, as she's gotta work tonight) as does producer and host Mike Bresnahan. We also get Chris McGee joining the conversation as we break down Mac McClung winning his third dunk title, what it would take to fix the dunk contest, and what everyone wants to see during All-Star Weekend in the future. We of course have to speak to the Lakers of it all, since we are joined by the entire Lakers TV crew - and everyone has mixed opinions about the Mark Williams failed trade and LeBron's health going forward. And James hammers Rob about whether or not Alabama is going to make a run at the NCAA title this year, because he knows his North Carolina Tar Heels won't! THANK YOU for rolling with us for 200 shows, and thank you to the entire Spectrum crew for making it one to remember!
We open the show with the biggest story in all of sports this week, the blockbuster Luka Doncic trade to the Lakers. Everyone throws out their initial reactions to this huge story, including Rob’s feelings that there were behind-the-scenes factors that played a big part in this trade that no one is discussing, like his entourage, not training with the team and his lack of conditioning. That said, Rob says he’s not that concerned about Luka’s weight because he is still getting the job done on the floor. Defensively there are still a lot of questions, especially when you look at his performance in the NBA Finals just a couple of seasons back, but the hope is that he is able to improve that while playing alongside LeBron. The money on the table is also a big angle in this Luka story, as he would be leaving over $116 MILLION on the table due to this trade because he’s not ineligible for a supermax deal. Does Rob feel like the Mavericks might have moved him to save some of that money? Plus the Lakers made a statement to LeBron James by making a move without his consideration, and Rob feels like this is just another indicator that LeBron needs to start moving aside as the leader of the team. Rob and B-Dog both feel like Luka and LeBron will be able to play with each other because LeBron has showed he could do it in a lot of other situations. De’Aaron Fox to San Antonio was the other big move of the week, as De’Aaron lands in a great situation alongside Victor Wembanyama as the Spurs try to rebuild around some young pieces. Jenners also loses last week’s bet as Jimmy Butler continues to blow up every deal that’s presented to him, and we were pretty convinced he’d at least have a deal in place by now. Plus we cannot figure out how the Warriors could ever pull together the resources to get Kevin Durant back, and we cannot figure out what New Orleans is doing with Zion as they continue to limit his playing time. We also debate the Super Bowl fatigue we’re getting over the Kansas City Chiefs, we give out a buffet-driven Big Shot of the Week, and close it out with a fun round of Shootout! We open up the bonus show this week with a challenge… can Rob and Harper guess the Top 10 in the NBA’s latest MVP ladder? Surprises like Cade Cunningham make the list, and some love for Karl-Anthony Towns who is leading the league in rebounds. We also discuss how guys like Ja Morant can’t receive any regular season awards now that he’s missed too many games, and whether you count as a “comeback player” if you missed time for getting suspended. After the viral video of the woman who CRASHED the golf cart carrying Ryan Day and Will Howard to the field following Ohio State’s National Championship win, listeners want to know about the dumbest accidents we’ve gotten into – and Rob jokes that he wrecked a friend’s car in high school and somehow they got paid MORE than the care was worth! We also bring a wild Michael Jordan stat to the show, showcasing just how good he was, and Rob says he’s got nothing but massive respect for his game because he’s not a hater. A listener wants to know if it’s okay to wear his wife’s favorite team’s jersey, as long as it’s not a rival team… and everyone has a bit of a different opinion about if that violates “fan code.” And everyone sounds off on bucket list destinations in sports, as Harper wants to sit courtside in LA for a Lakers game, and Jenners and Rob want to hit the road to experience historic MLB ballparks… just perfect for NBA guys! The guys are BACK after a very tough week for both Horry and Jenners. Rob was obviously touch-and-go all week with the insane California wildfires. He talks about how he could see them from his house, went several days without power and how he and his wife had to pack the items they felt were irreplaceable in case the worst happened. Thankfully Rob's house was fine and his family is okay. Jenners also had an impossibly hard week, as he and his wife lost their son Cody right after the New Year. Cody Corby was only 32, and the Jenners family is trying to find a way forward without him. We quickly pivot back to basketball, and we're all a little bummed that we missed out on the Jason Whitlock and Joy Taylor audio from last week (which we play and laugh at anyway). Plus we get Rob's thoughts on the Jimmy Butler drama in Miami, and if the Heat can even find a way forward if he indeed remains on the roster. Rob tries to figure out where it all went wrong for Jimmy in Miami, who had a good run for a while in that city, and why it's not in Miami's best interest to trade him. And everyone jumps in on Zion Williamson's suspension for lateness (and fatness) with the audio of the week from Shannon and Stephen A laying into him. Rob says lateness shows a greater disrespect for the team, and characterizes him as a guy who only cares about himself. Harper points out that he's putting unneeded stress on his body by trying to be a high-flying dunker. Plus a look around the NBA standings, with surprise seasons from the Cavs, Rockets and Grizzlies thus far. Stand out players like Zach LaVine, Karl Anthony-Towns in New York, and the wild numbers that Nikola Jokic is putting up AGAIN this season. The Tweet of the Week comes from Mad Max Vernon Maxwell who took time to dunk on the Utah Jazz again, we play some hilarious audio from TLC's new show about Tourette's syndrome, and a funny Big Shot of the Week to the Sacramento reporter that got nabbed looking at Rhianna's Instagram during a live shot. We make our picks for the National Championship Game on Monday night, and close it out with a hilarious round of Black Crime or White Crime! This week's show is presented by Draft Kings!! New DraftKings customers can bet $5 to get $200 in bonus bets instantly! Download the DraftKings Sportsbook app and use code BIGSHOTBOB. Where Do You Stand on the TGL, Homeade(ish) Lobster Bisque, the Jenners and Christian Watson's injury doomsday people? Also, Brian really needs to watch The Sopranos.
The bonus show opens with some love for Ja'Kobi Lane, who caught three touchdowns in the USC Bowl win... but we did NOT expect his voice to sound the way it did! Really it's any excuse to bring back the Dutch runner who sounds like Mickey Mouse. We also get a listener question about Toledo rushing the field three times before they actually won their bowl game against Pitt, as a listener is convinced they jinxed it. And Rob talks about a time that he was asked to wear NBA Champions shirts before they had actually won, and decided to do it because the money was too good. One of the biggest debates of the week in the NBA hits the bonus show, as we get into Wemby shooting a high volume of 3-pointers. Rob wants him to develop his shot from mid-range more than his three. Harp wants him to put on weight. Jenners argues that this is the one time in his career he can goof around with shot selection and build his game outside-in. Let us know where you fall in on this one. We wrap it up by talking about the Happy Gilmore 2 trailer that dropped on Christmas Day, and what movie sequels we were excited for that let us down. Candidates include Joker 2, Rush Hour 3, and Coming to America 2 (a big one),
We are BACK from the holiday break with the news that Robert Horry is on the HALL OF FAME BALLOT! And while he isn't sure he will get in with a crowded nomination class, the fact that he's officially in the conversation is huge. He tells us how he found out, what the reactions have been from friends and fans and why he believes he deserves to be there. Rob also gets into the D'Angelo Russell trade from LA to the Nets (again) and admits that he likes the move for D-Lo's future. Harper thinks Finney-Smith is a great fit for the Lakers if he sticks to his role as a perimeter shooter and defender. And the firing of Mike Brown threw everyone for a loop - and Rob speculates that one of the Kings star players must have sounded off to management and that's what made it happen so abruptly. Mike Malone held nothing back by saying the move shows that Sacramento management has "no class" and how that message resonates to the owners and GMs around the league. Everyone talks about the fun they had on Christmas break, until Rob decided to shoot Jenners a text to remind him that Draymond Green already has 7 techs, as Jenners bet of "under 10" for the season really starts to implode. That leads us into the incident caught on tape where Draymond was cursing out Buddy Hield on the floor and later saying it was his was of motivating him. Rob sounds off, saying he was never motivated by people yelling at him and had a huge disagreement with a teammate in Houston over that. Which spins us into a conversation about how guys choose to motivate their teammates and what really works. Anthony Edwards got popped $100K for cursing on live TV, and Rob says the big fine was the NBA trying to send a message to players to watch their language on live TV. And we celebrate the return of NBA fights, after Amen Thompson threw down Tyler Herro - and the Marshall-Nurkic suspensions came down in the Dallas-Phoenix fight. We also jump into the College Playoff picks for the quarter finals games this week, which has us all going in different directions. And we close with a Big Shot of the Week to the National Police of Peru for arresting drug dealers on Christmas dressed as the Grinch - and a hilarious round of "It Happened This Year" where we try to remember specifics about stuff that went down in 2024.
The Shoot Around starts with Nikola Jokic who said this week that players should get paid LESS for losses to use as motivation. As a fan Jenners doesn't hate the idea, but Rob feels like it's disrespectful because guys take that money with the idea that you're always try to win. We also joke about how funny it would be to have a stat tracker that watches a player's paycheck go down as the game gets away from them. Kirk also asks if we're sleeping on the Grizzlies, and Rob reminds us that before his suspension and injury, he was in the MVP conversation and is the spark plug for the rest of the team. We also get Rob's thoughts about Shams reporting that the Warriors are on a hunt for another "star", and Rob says when he looks at the Warriors he thinks they need to add strength and size. Donny's question for the show is regarding the Knicks but Rob still isn't buying it. And we have to discuss the video that went viral this week comparing Jokic's moves to Magic's and how similar they look, and it sounds like Rob is FINALLY on the Jokic bandwagon. And which player would we take? And we close out the show with the story of Kirk Herbstreit's son Chase committing to Michigan, after his dad made his name at Ohio State. We ask Rob what school would burn him up if his son decided to commit to a rival. If you ever have a question for the Shoot Around, send it to bigshotbobpod@gmail.com or on X and Instagram @bigshotbobpod.
We open the show with Jenners saying that he really hates the NBA Cup, largely because it feels like a gimmick for an otherwise successful league – while Rob and B-Dog say that it has a benefit to league by guys playing hard in the regular season when otherwise they wouldn’t. And the debate rages about it’s value to casual NBA fans. Plus a look at the NBA standings starts to tell the story about the caliber of basketball that most teams are playing – including the Lakers, who despite getting embarrassed the other night have played relatively well so far this season. Since B-Dog has to leave a little early for a work commitment, we jump ahead and do a hilarious round of Walmart or Waffle House! Then Rob and Rob get into whether or not Anthony Davis should be in the mix for Defensive Player of the Year, after he came out this week and said he was frustrated by never being in consideration for one. We also try to figure out what happened from last season to this season with the Minnesota Timberwolves, because they are on a losing skid and have not played that well this season. Rob thinks that has a lot to do with team chemistry because it’s something that numbers and salaries don’t account for. We round out the show with a conversation about Caitlin Clark’s star power as opposed to the under-30 guys in the NBA today, and where that attention really comes from and what it does to the egos of younger players. Plus Ja Morant’s back and playing great, but still has a long road to climb to get back into good graces of NBA media and fans. And of course we get into all the wild fights from college football rivalry week, and give out another inspiring and motivational Big Shot of the Week. It’s Thanksgiving Week and everyone has stuff going on! Rob’s entire family is in town (which we’re not sure he’s all that thrilled about) and Harper is at the beach with his family. But we still come together at this time for thanks… and dump on the Sixers for going snitch hunting this past week! We are all in agreement about Tyrese Maxey being the likely snitch, but Rob is floored that Joel Embiid continues to be late in the face of all the team’s struggles. Plus Rob’s favorite story of the week was Fred VanVleet starting a huge arguments with the refs and somehow not catching a suspension or a bigger fine than LeMelo Ball got last week. The viral audio of the week comes from the Timberwolves broadcast, who continued to double down on how bad Jaylen Brown had been shooting from three while he continues to drain one after another in the opening minutes of their game! Rob is also intrigued by the idea of the Eastern and Western conferences not being “equal” in the post season format but rather the best 16 teams from across the league making the cut – and the debate rages about traditionalism versus new-age consumers when it comes to pro sports. We also round out the show with some hilarious audio of President Biden trying to introduce the Boston Celtics during their White House visit, the NBA’s updated MVP ladder (on which Rob feels like LeBron needs to be higher based on what he’s doing at age 40), and a hilarious debate about ESPN’s best “Big threes” in the NBA, with some not even making the list! The college football pandemonium also takes center stage, as we get Rob’s thoughts on Alabama’s sub-par season, largely because Bama fans have been spoiled for so long, and Jenners tries to break down the WILD end of the Arizona State-BYU game. Plus a truly amazing and inspiring Big Shot of the Week, and a fun high-low Thanksgiving game as we roll into the holiday weekend! This week’s show is presented by Draft Kings and Manscaped!! We open with Rob joking that Jenners is going to lose the Draymond Green less-than 10 technical fouls bet after he got TWO the other night and has already notched four this season. Rob also HATES that the NBA refs continue to put out statements after the games that they missed calls, like what happened on the Jayson Tatum game winner from the other night, and how that doesn’t do anything except upset the fan base. Plus everyone on the show is really happy that Inside the NBA got picked up by ESPN, but to still be produced by Turner, as that show has proved to be a very good spotlight for the league over the years. Rob also thinks that Mike Tyson just ran out of steam in the Jake Paul fight but does not believe the fight was rigged. We also have some props for Anthony Davis and LeBron James as they continue to dominate early in the season, especially with LeBron at the doorstep of 40 years old. And we all laugh at the farce of the Lakers now saying they DON’T want to trade D-Lo because he’s playing so well off the bench, because that’s exactly the time you do trade him! Plus LeMelo Ball’s $100K fine caught us a little off guard due to the context of the comment he made, but Rob says it was clear that they were sending a message to people not to cross that line, especially when it comes to the league’s sponsors. James Harden also made history this week by surpassing Ray Allen for second on the all-time three-pointers made list, which doesn’t really change his legacy until he elevates the Clippers and wins a ring. And with Cleveland entering this week still unbeaten at 15-0, Rob says they could be way better than anyone anticipated down the stretch but might not make it to the Finals as the 15-0 teams of the past have done. And we try to make sense of the Philadelphia 76ers who continue to just fall apart right in front of our eyes, even though Rob thinks they will still find a way to make the playoffs. And it wouldn’t be a week if we didn’t argue about the College Football Playoff and what happens if a 2-loos team loses the SEC Championship and gets bounced while another team sneaks in behind them. Madness all over the place in the first year of the 12-team Playoff! We also hand out Big Shot of the Week to an Atlanta man who saved a stranger from a burning home, and wrap up the week with a spin on Shaq’s game show called Lucky 7! The bonus show opens with some great questions from Big Shot listeners, including Dean who wants to know who our Play-In teams will be based on the picks we made last week. Rob rolls with the Bucks and Sixers in the East, and the Nuggets and the Kings in the West… Jenners has the Sixers and Heat in the East, and Dallas and the Suns in the West… and B-Dog goes with the Lakers and Dallas in the West, and the Hawks and the Nets in the East. Plus Michael Porter Jr said this week that if the Nuggets don’t win this year that they might have to break up that team, and a look at everyone’s contracts proves that otherwise. But Rob feels like they need to focus on getting the bench pieces back that they lost in order to turn it around. And after impressive starts, listeners what to know who Rob thinks will have a bigger impact on their team this season, Buddy Hield or Sabonis? And Rob is rolling with Buddy because he’s basically become the new splash brother. Rob also agrees with Baron Davis’s assessment that a Doc Rivers team is a “beatable team” and says they may need to blow up the Bucks entirely. There was also a weird streak that came to light this week, where the Houston Rockets haven’t beat the Golden State Warriors since February of 2020! That led us to ask Rob about teams he could not find a way to beat, and he says his Houston team couldn’t beat the Sonics because of their iconic lineup. And finally we all tech the higher or lower bet that Draymond laid out, saying he’d get less than 10 techs this season. This week’s show is presented by UncommonGoods.com! After an Iowa Track & Field star clocked a 4.12 40 during halftime of the Hawkeyes game, it leads us to open the show with Robert Horry’s second homework assignment of the week. He wanted to know what athletes could excel in other sports – and Jenners asks about NBA players specifically who we think could play in the NFL. Names like LeBron and Ant of course pop up, but Rob goes with the obvious picks of Charlie Ward and Jalen Suggs, who both played college football. As the season unfolds, Rob also wants to know what Wemby can do to put on weight before we get too far in, especially after that video surfaced this week of Stephen Adams backing him down in the post and there was nothing Wemby could do to stop him. Plus after Anthony Richardson checked himself out of the Colts game, it reminds Rob of the time he pulled himself out of a game, but not because he was tired but because he was mad at Latrell Sprewell. Listeners also want to know what Rob thought about Chris Paul taking a swing at Dillon Brooks in the scrum this week, and Rob says that if you wanted to fight a guy in his day you just did it, or met at center court like Kobe and Reggie Miller. We have even more listener questions on the table, including – Are the Magic poised for a breakout season? Is Russell Westbrook cooked, or just in the wrong system in Denver as Rob suggests? We dive into that, and acknowledge the NBA Halloween costume of the year… which goes to the guy who dressed up like Manu Ginobili and his girlfriend who dressed up as the bat he swatted out of the air during a game!
Rob is live from Houston as the Rockets celebrate the 30th anniversary of their 1994-95 NBA Championship, which breaks into a conversation about what teams are beholden to their last championship and need to find a way past it. And of course we open with the wild conversation about the Dwyane Wade statue – as we all think it was really bad, but it appears that Wade had a hand in approving it before it was unveiled. We love that D-Wade got his statue, and Rob jokes that he ever were to get one he would want to make sure it looks exactly like him. Plus the Lakers have come out of the gates strong, winners of three of their first four games, and Rob is happy with the system he’s seeing so far from LA. JJ is now the front runner to win Coach of the Year which is a hilarious “way too early” prediction for Harper. Rob likes the limited look of plays that the Lakers have rolled out, which is keeping the offense simple. Joel Embiid also got T’d up even though he hasn’t played a game yet this season, due to “left knee management”, which scares everyone about how the Sixers season will play out if he remains on the bench. Jenners also has a wild NBA stat about Ben Simmons that further infuriates the show. Everyone on the show rolls out their homework for Rob, which was to lay out the six teams from the East and the West that will make the Playoffs this season… and of course everyone’s opinions waver wildly, with a few exceptions. We also touch on the Indiana Fever parting ways with Christie Sides, the WILD end of the OKC-New Orleans game with two buzzer-beater threes, and the total meltdown from the Washington Commanders radio booth after last week’s Hail Mary to win the game. Plus an inspiring Big Shot of the Week to a woman in LA who saved a young girl’s life, and a round of “Build me a Statue” as a salute to D-Wade’s wild one that was unveiled this week.
We open the bonus show this week with ESPN’s ranking of the Top 25 players in the NBA as we tip off the season… and Rob is already knee-deep in controversy for not putting Luca Doncic in his Top 10 this week. Plus we see if Rob and B-Dog can guess the Top 10 without seeing the list, and they struggle with one superstar who could be in the MVP conversation this year. We also ask Rob… could the Rockets will be good this year? Rob really likes their young core, but somehow uses this topic as a chance to slaughter the hopes of Hawks fans for some reason by saying their first round pick Zaccharie Risacher is going to be a bust. Rob also wants to get into Victor Wembanyama saying that he liked a lot of guys in the league before he played, but his opinion of them has waned after seeing how little they put into their game… and Rob asks him to pump the brakes on judging other people’s game prep as he’s just a sophomore in the league. And could Anthony Edwards really leave the NBA to go play football after winning a ring? Rob thinks the skills don’t translate the same way and there are physical aspects that you don’t take into account. After Aaron Rodgers got caught picking his nose on Sunday Night Football, we discuss the most embarrassing things that have happened to us – Rob says it was when his pants fell down on an NBA Sideline, and Jenners getting spit-shamed in the grocery store for licking his fingers to open a bag. And the curious case of Texas throwing enough trash on the field to get the officials to pick up a flag really sets a bad precedent for College Football. And we close with Tyrese Haliburton… posting a congratulatory video at 4am to 50 Cent after seeing him in Vegas… with three white women in the background that he brought home from the show. We ask Rob about the last thing he posted online that his wife asked him to take down… and it was a picture with a porno star in Vegas! This week’s episode is presented by Draft Kings! Rob is in Vegas for the Lakers and Warriors, doing an event with Rob Pelinka, and gets right into the rumors about the Lakers hunting for a center and wonders what teams even have an impactful center today. Rob also crossed paths with Draymond Green and talks about how well they got along, and Rob was surprised how short he was when they met. And while we’re on the Lakers, we try to figure out how JJ and Rob can sell Bronny to the fanbase if he continues to underperform in the preseason. Rob and B-Dog both try to convince Jenners that it isn’t about basketball, it’s about the story of playing with his dad, and that doesn’t sit right with people who care about wins and losses and not storylines. Kwame Brown also weights in on the Bronny situation and makes some very strong points from a basketball perspective. We also discuss JB Bickerstaff’s new “no hoodies and jewelry” approach to practice and we agree with it so much that it makes us feel like old men. Mike Malone also enters the conversation after calling his guys “soft” as they come into the preseason, which takes us down a road of figuring out if the Nuggets are “stuck” as some have suggested. Everyone also has some congratulations for the inductees into the Basketball Hall of Fame, and Rob thinks the Liberty are going to win the WNBA Finals amidst record ratings for that series. Rob also made an appearance at the NLDS for his close friend Jack Flaherty, who pitched lights out in Game 1 of the Championship Series. And audio of the week comes in from Cam Newton cracking on Shannon Sharpe on First Take, the over-the-top portrayal of Rob Gronkowski on the Aaron Hernandez FX show, and Jerry Jones threatening to have a radio host fired after he asked about the poor offseason decisions he’s made. The Governor of Florida Ron DeSantis gets a Big Shot of the Week for standing up for an abandoned dog who was tied to a post during the hurricane – and we close it out with a hilarious round of “Who He Coach For?”
The bonus show kicks off this week with discussion of Joel Embiid, who reportedly lost 25-30 pounds over the summer. Listeners want to know if Rob likes his big men lean or muscular, and Rob feels like Embiid was heavy and needed to lose it. We also saw the official retirement of Derrick Rose this week, which spawns a conversation about guys we thought were going to be the next big thing and just never got there – and SO many great names come up. And with the passing of Pete Rose, as Jenners had several bad encounters with him, we ask about celebrities we had bad run-ins with. Woj also retired from ESPN this week and we want to know who Rob thinks should replace him, and if he ever worked with Woj in his time at ESPN. The Chicago White Sox finished the season with the worst record in MLB history and we discuss teams that are just hard to root for, including the Browns, Kings and especially the Clippers. And now that we are officially in October we see who on the show is a Halloween guy.
We are back from a week off which we forgot to tell the audience about! Blame that one on Jenners who took his kid to Universal Studios, and we learned that Rob is terrified of roller coasters. Rob also updates us on his family in the Carolinas after dealing with all the flooding from Hurricane Helene, and thankfully they are all okay. Plus Rob landed himself in the news this week by saying he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame, which leads us into a conversation about Pete Rose and whether MLB should lift his ban now that he’s passed on. That also brings us into the conversation about the loss of Dikembe Mutombo, one of the most iconic big men to ever play the game and an amazing ambassador for the NBA across the globe. And we have a ton of stuff to talk about on the heels of NBA Media Day, first and foremost being Draymond Green. Harper salutes him for refusing to take any accountability for suspensions and time missed, while Jenners really just wants SOME kind of accountability from him after everything he’s been through. Respect to the Milwaukee reporter who asked Dame about Gorilla shooting her shot as Rob jokes about how much fun Media Days can be. And the Knicks did a lot of squirming behind the mics because they couldn’t talk about the Karl Anthony-Towns trade, as Rob thinks Milwaukee made a HUGE mistake letting him go! Paul Pierce said this week that the Knicks won’t win a championship in his lifetime, and Rob is hesitant to agree, and the audio of Tom Brady cooking Baker Mayfield reminded us of Kobe Bryant. Georgia vs Alabama breaks into the show, which leads us to a funny Big Shot of the Week, and we close it out with another fun round of Bet On Yourself.
It’s a loaded bonus show this week, as we dive right into Kevin Garnett’s statement that the Phoenix Suns can win more than 47 games this year and Booker and Beal could be MVPs. Rob does not agree, but Harp and Jenners both think they can pull 50 wins. Listener questions this week come to B-Dog, about how much longer he thinks Trae Young will last in Atlanta, as the reality of the trade market just doesn’t exist for his contract. We also rank the all-time careers of James Harden, Russell Westbrook, Dwyane Wade and Chris Paul – and everyone has a different ranking for different reasons. In the aftermath of the Ricky Pearsall incident, listeners want to know if Rob has any flashy jewelry like a Rolex, and is he afraid to wear it out in public. Plus we help Mark Cuban remember the 2006 NBA Finals as he seems to be suffering from some revisionist history regarding Dwyane Wade, and after Joey Chestnut demolished 83 hot dogs in 10 minutes, we ask Rob what he could eat 83 of! Thanks to DRAFT KINGS for sponsoring this episode of Big Shot Bob! Download the NEW DraftKings Pick Six app NOW and use code BIGSHOTBOB. That’s code BIGSHOTBOB for new customers to play $5, and get $50 in Pick 6 credits GUARANTEED, PLUS one month of NFL+ Premium on us! Offer expires 9/19. Only on DraftKings Pick Six. We open the bonus show with some of the hilarious Connor Stallions texts to Michigan staffers, just for a laugh, and getting B-Dog to read them with sexy music is all the better! Plus we dive into Snoop Dogg’s format attire at the Olympics, and how Rob owns a LOT of tuxedos and suits, while Jenners doesn’t even own one. And after a French pole vaulter knocked off the crossbar with his junk, we ask Rob about his most embarrassing moments on the court. We also get into the news that Charles Barkley is continuing with Turner beyond them losing the NBA, where we see Deandre Ayton landing if he gets moved from Portland, and the Ice Cube Big3 challenge to the Olympians who win the 3x3 Basketball Event. And we close with SPOILERS about Deadpool & Wolverine and how much we loved getting to see so many of the characters they rolled out in this film.
The Kardashians are masters of marketing. It's the way they live. From their TV show to their individual brands like 818 Tequila, Good American and Skims, the Kardashians and Jenners are marketing themselves. So with the help of our special guest, Head of Marketing & Communications at Foursquare, Michele Morelli, we are taking marketing lessons from The Kardashians. We'll talk about using the power of proximity, controlling your own narrative, and much more.About our guest, Michele MorelliMichele Morelli is Head of Marketing & Communications at Foursquare, where she oversees Foursquare's efforts and strategy across product marketing, corporate communications, public relations, partner marketing, and design. Michele brings with her over 20 years of experience across numerous industries – including technology, finance, and media, at companies like Gartner, Yahoo and AOL. Prior to joining the company in 2021, Michele served as EVP of Marketing at Toluna Corporate. What B2B Companies Can Learn From The Kardashians:Use the power of proximity. Reference and connect cultural touchpoints to your brand. It's like how the Kardashians are close to the OJ Simpson trial, Paris Hilton, the Olympics, Kanye West…all cultural touchpoints that increase their awareness and brand recall in the public's mind. Ian says, “It matters to be close to Hilton because everybody knows what a Hilton is. It matters to be close to the OJ Simpson case because everybody knew what that was. It matters to be close to the Olympics because everybody knew what that was. A lot of times in marketing, you're trying to figure out how you can leverage the power and the story of other things to do that sort of jiu jitsu, to take that energy and put that wind in your sail too and propel you forward.” Similarly, you can align your brand with other like-minded brands and cross-promote content. Michele says that “There's this cross-promotional audience blending that has happened simply because of who [the Kardashians] have aligned themselves with.”Control your own narrative. The Kardashians were able to control their story by creating their own reality show. Michele says, “Controlling the narrative is always incredibly important, but two, the consistency from which they hit the narrative is so important. Like, they know what they stand for, they know what the business is they want to promote, they know how to weave a narrative around it. In marketing where you want to control the message that goes out, if there's going to be a story that's written, how do you make sure that it's framed in the best possible light for your brand?” Quotes*”John Wanamaker was famous for the quote, ‘Half of my advertising spend is wasted, the only problem is I don't know which half.' It is no longer true. I think we have a much better direction of how we are spending our money and where we're actually seeing movement. The question is what aperture you look at it with. Is it a week? Is it six weeks? Is it six months? So really making sure you have that right window to measure your media I think is also going to be very important.” - Michele Morelli*”What's really important from a brand perspective that I think Kim embodies is that if you are a legacy brand or a heritage brand, it is very difficult to move away from how people perceive you and what the core is. There's always a, ‘Yeah, but…' when we talk about Kim. And I think for marketers, we see that if once you are thought of in one way, getting people to come along for the journey, that you're something different, especially if you're still doing that same thing is very, very difficult.” - Michele MorelliTime Stamps[0:55] Meet Michele Morelli, Head of Marketing & Communications at Foursquare[1:55] The Kardashians' Marketing Powerhouse[3:20] Foursquare's Marketing Strategy[5:2 The Origin of The Kardashians Show[8:13] The Evolution and Impact of The Kardashians[15:32] Marketing Takeaways from The Kardashians[18:38] The Power of Proximity in Marketing[36:10] The Kardashian Flywheel Effect[36:21] Kris Jenner: The Mastermind[37:56] The Ubiquity of the Kardashian Brand[45:54] The Evolution of Foursquare[51:18] Content Strategy and ROI[1:00:01] Embracing Technology in MarketingLinksWatch The KardashiansConnect with Michele on LinkedInLearn more about FoursquareAbout Remarkable!Remarkable! is created by the team at Caspian Studios, the premier B2B Podcast-as-a-Service company. We’re running a couple of days late this week, but we makeup for it with a huge show full of great topics! And we start with the post-credits scene from last week’s show, as Kawhi Leonard steps away from the Olympic team and Jaylen Brown gets the snub by Nike. Rob also offers up his opinion on the Bronny James narrative that has dominated the Summer League conversation, and says it’s important to remember that second round guys like Bronny are being evaluated for their potential, not that their current level – but Jenners disagrees, because he’s never have a shot at an NBA roster if his last name wasn’t James. We also debate if Jaylen Brunson leaving money on the table was the right move, because it largely depends on how management in New York handles using that money. And what kind of big could teams like New York and LA lure with the right coaching and situation? Paul Pierce taking credit for LeBron’s “next step” has Rob wondering why any player would take credit for another player’s hard work and talent – and how you can learn from a team of guys, but never just one guy. And how Barkley calling out the league for their new TV deal was spot on, whether John Wall deserves another shot in the league, how slanted Enes Kantor Freedom’s take is on LeBron James, and the destruction of Hard Rock Stadium by COPA America fans has us reminiscing about the craziest crowd we were ever a part of. We close it out with an inspiring Big Shot of the Week, and a truly hilarious round of Rapid Fire!
We open the bonus show this week with a great listener question, about which team made the best move in free agency. Rob says it was definitely Paul George to the Sixers, but B-Dog and Jenners both feel like you can't sleep on Dejounte Murray to the Pelicans. And speaking of the Sixers, with them bringing back the black jerseys from the Iverson days, we talk about our favorite throwback NBA jerseys... and the Magic pinstripes, 90's Hornets and old school Supersonics looks all make our list. Rob thinks this trend of "raw dogging" a flight by doing nothing at all is psychotic, he can't juggle like Wemby after video of him has gone viral, and how much Kevin Bacon hated being "a regular person" as Rob reflects on the few perks he gets from being well known. And with Futurama coming back again this month, we talk about the TV shows that we'd love to see another season of, including The Wire, Boondocks and the Sopranos.
A photo of Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet has gone viral and it's brought up an important discussion about the men in the Kardashians' and Jenners' lives. How do these men affect their relevance?Plus, Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan can do anything. She's released a song and it's a banger. THE END BITSFind us on Instagram here. We open this week’s bonus show with a quick update on Kristaps Porzingis’s health as the NBA Finals roll on. Plus we get right into listener questions, as people want to know Rob’s thoughts about San Antonio possibly trading for Darius Garland to pair with Victor Wembenyama – and Rob loves that move if it indeed comes together. Scottie Barnes also offers relationship advice to streamers, saying to find a good girl at the Mall?! Who goes to the MALL anymore? We also talk about Father’s Day gifts and what Rob and Jenners prefer to do with that day, proving Jenners is acting way too old for his age. And with Darvin Ham back in Milwaukee on Doc’s staff, we break out the conspiracy theory that he’s getting set up to take Doc’s spot if this season doesn’t pan out. Rob also loved James Harden’s reaction to catching the bouquet at a wedding, and we all speak on the guys we know that will never get married. Plus the bull named Party Bus that got loose at an Oregon rodeo has Rob reminiscing about how GREAT the rodeos are in Texas, which we had no clue about. Finally, after the woman who lost the speed walking medal for celebrating too early, we ask Rob about times he got caught celebrating too early.

Rob opens the show this week with his fatigue over the “who has more rings” debate, and how some of the best players in NBA history never won a ring but are still the best. We also joke about how long the Celtics and Mavericks have to sit around and wait for the NBA Finals to start. Rob says the down time benefits the Celtics as Porzingas gets healthy and hurts the Mavericks who’ve been on a roll. Rob and Jenners pick the Mavericks to win it all, while Harper is still on the fence. And of course we go head first into the raging WNBA debate, which is all about storylines – and how Rob feels like the Caitlin Clark “story” is starting to drag on the other players and frustrate them. Rob agrees with Matt Barnes in the fact that Caitlin’s teammates needs to watch over her, and how Caitlin also needs to learn not to take any grief from other players. And we break down the monstrous fallout from First Take’s WNBA meltdown, and how Rob feels like the media has grown so driven for story that it irritates the players and the league by harping on the same narratives. Rob also feels like the Lakers dragging out the coaching hire means that they’re waiting for JJ Redick to finish his NBA media season before hiring him as the new Lakers head coach. The Audio of the Week comes from the New Black Panther Party’s Brother Quanell X (who Rob knows) breaking down a controversy at a local elementary school, and 85-year-old high school graduate gets Big Shot of the Week, and another classic round of Black Crime or White Crime!
This week’s audio of the week leads off the Shoot Around as a Wheel of Fortune contest went viral for guessing “Right in the Butt” on a toss-up. That spirals us into our all-time favorite viral videos, from “Sum Ting Wong” to the bug-in-the-mouth reporter. We also get Rob’s inside take on the Lakers coaching search and why it’s taking so long to hire a new coach. Plus as Steph Curry and his wife welcome their fourth child, Rob and Jenners share experiences of our kids’ births. It was also wild to see Travis Kelce get booed at the Western Conference Finals, and we find out if Rob is excited for Bad Boys and other films that deserved a sequel. And after Dolphins linebacker Jaelen Phillips found an iguana in his toilet we joke about Rob’s run-ins with wildlife.

There is SO much to get into on this week’s show – and we start with the Timberwolves, as Minnesota shocks the world by taking the first two games in Denver… but not Robert Horry! Rob aw the flaws in the Denver bench during the Lakers series. And somehow the Timberwolves were better without Rudy Gobert, Trae Young saying Ant Man should have been an Atlanta Hawk, and whether Jamal Murray will get suspended for throwing the heat pad on the floor in Game 2. We throw some love to Josh Hart for his exceptional play as the Knicks take Game 1 against the Pacers, even though Rob is still rolling with the Pacers to win the series. And the Clippers burn Jenners again, as they dip out in the first round to the Mavericks and we deep dive into the money owed to that roster and whether Paul George stays in LA. We also get Rob’s take on Darvin Ham and the Lakers entire coaching staff being shown the door, and even though it’s LeBron’s 6th coach to be let go, Rob doesn’t think it’s a LeBron issue and sees him getting an extension in LA. And everyone has words for Pat Bev after the insane drama of throwing a ball into the stands, insulting a female ESPN reporter because she didn’t subscribe to her podcast, and what this means for his future beyond the NBA. Plus we debate whether the Suns will trade Devin Booker, give out an inspiring Big Shot of the Week to a Buffalo firefighter who saved a dog’s life, and play another classic round of Black Crime or White Crime.
As we look back on the NFL Draft, a listener takes a look at Rob's NBA Draft outfit from 1992 and asks why Rob chose to roll with that tie! And after Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch tore his knee after a sideline collision, we want to know if Rob ever suffered a strange/stupid injury during his playing days. MLB is rolling out their City Connect jerseys for the season, so we also ask Rob about his favorite NBA alternate jerseys, even though those largely didn't come until after he retired. We were all stunned to learn that Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson is going to be a REAL fight, and wonder what will prevail - Tyson's power and experience, or Jake Paul's stamina. And after Stallone and Arnold did their sit down interview, we debate our favorite action heroes of all time. And after Jenners' daughter accidentally watched the new Deadpool trailer, we talk about the things we watched as kids that we knew were inappropriate.
The bonus show opens with the Allen Iverson statue controversy coming out of Philadelphia, after the Internet turned on the 76ers for unveiling a very small statue for Allen Iverson… but context matters, because every Philly legend has the same small statue outside the practice facility. Plus Kevin Durant talks about staying healthy this season by avoiding “floppers and crash dummies,” guys that Rob used to call “fake hustle” guys. We even dive into how much fun WrestleMania was this year, from guys that are NOT wrestling fans and really enjoyed it. And Rob weighs in on the Scottie Scheffler dilemma, as his wife was pregnant with their first child while he was leading the Masters, and he said he’d walk off the course if his wife went into labor… and Rob says he would leave any event, but Jenners contends that guys don’t have much to contribute during delivery. Plus, after the passing of OJ Simpson last week, Rob recounts what it was like playing in the NBA Finals the night of the OJ Simpson Bronco chase. And we close things out by talking about the 20 instances of guys scoring more than 50 in a game this season, and the final debate about who gets our MVP votes now that the regular season is over.
We open up the bonus show this week by looking at the sale of Kobe's championship ring at auction, which set a record, and Jenners did not realize that they gave every winner two rings for winning a title. And a listener question asks if the Lakers need a third star this offseason and Rob jokes that if the guys, they have plays to their potential they won't need one. We also throw some love to Isaiah Thomas for getting another 10-day with the Suns, debate whether Jokic should be okay to sit out as opposed to playing through small injuries, and joke about the squatters that are apparently ruining LeBron's neighborhood in Beverly Hills. Rob also weighs in on "foul hunters" and disagrees that Jalen Brunson falls into that group. but agrees that there are other guys that do.
Rob was in the building to see Alabama knock off North Carolina and advance to the Final Four, and the crew talks about the DJ Burns phenomenon at NC State, the Iowa-LSU game on the women’s side, and Zach Edey’s controversial comments after Purdue advanced to the Final Four. We also get into the LeBron James comments that his career is reaching its end, largely because that wasn’t breaking news, but Rob looks at it from the perspective of a former player who was worn down from the mental and physical grind of playing in the league. Jenners also has to eat some crow after Anthony Davis has reached 70 games started, and we play some audio of the funniest April Fool’s prank on an unassuming mom! Plus Joel Embiid’s possible return this week could be a turning point for the Sixers, what Draymond Green has done to the Warriors dynasty, and Paul George’s future in LA or elsewhere. We also give out one of the best Big Shots of the Week we’ve heard in ages, and Rob and B-Dog face off in another classic round of Black Crime or White Crime!
Rob is going to see Alabama take on North Carolina in the Sweet Sixteen in LA this week, as Rob hopes to see his Tide avenge his last college basketball loss which came at the hands of UNC. Plus the tournament talk launches us into a debate about the merits of the transfer portal, in both basketball and football, and how bad the NCAA has been about regulation. And even though Kentucky continues to be a relevant brand, Harper wants to know how long it will be before they move on from John Calipari. We also dive deep in to the Western Conference standings, and how the Warriors need to keep an eye on the Rockets regardless of how Draymond Green seems to feel. And Boston’s disappointing performance against the Hawks (blowing a 30 point lead) didn’t really change anyone’s opinion that the Celtics are the team to beat in the East. There’s also some hilarious audio from Bol Bol, who accused the refs of “d*** riding” for Victor Wembanyama and doesn’t even catch a tech! And with Houston being on a hot streak, Jenners is surprised by the story that the Rockets tried to move him to the Nets for Mikal Bridges. The Big Shot of the Week goes to Travis Hunter who bought his mom a “nice ass house” – followed by a debate about how many bathrooms a house SHOULD have! And we close it out with a classic round of Shootout!
Rob opens the show with genuine surprise that the Lakers beat the Clippers, which launches the entire show into a debate about the current status of the Lakers. Plus where do Rob and B-Dog fall in on the criticism surrounding Davin Ham, the Lakers trying to make moves at the deadline, and George Karl blaming AD for the Lakers’ shortcomings this season. And with Draymond Green making his return to the floor, Jenners and B-Dog both lay into him over his retirement sob story to Adam Silver, because this is very much a situation of his own making. B-Dog covers the Hawks for our station in Atlanta and says it’s about to be a fire sale, with the exception of Trae Young and Jalen Johnson Jr. We also send some congratulations to our buddy Shaq for having his jersey retired in Orlando, give up another Big Shot of the Week to Mark Cuban for bonusing all his employees, and Rob and B-Dog square up in another classic round of Shot Clock.
After the Chiefs lost on one of the penalties of the season, Rob and Rob talk about the penalties in pro sports that bother us. Plus, how long can Monty Williams hang on in Detroit after losing NINETEEN games in a row in Detroit? And after Shohei Ohtani signed with the Dodgers, we discuss the biggest trades and signings that our teams have ever made. Jenners was in Miami when the Shaq trade went down, and Rob says Shaq and others were trying to recruit him to the Heat and chose not to go! Finally, what thing have you never been able to get into that other people love? And adversely what thing do you love that other people don't get. New shows every Tuesday and Friday!
Odds on Draymond’s next NBA altercation in the league, and we bet heavy on front runners Dillon Brooks and Pat Bev. And speaking of Pat Bev, we talk about the video of his “biggest fan” who had every one of his jerseys, and get Rob to talk about some of his biggest super fans over the years. Plus Rob is asked why he’s so big on Mikal Bridges, and Rob says it’s because Mikal reminds him of the work ethic that he had back in the day. Jenners also brings in the Crime of the Week, where a woman is on the run after stealing a van filled with 10,000 Krispey Kreme Donuts. Rob also talks about how much he flopped back in the day, how much Vlade Divac flopped in his day, and Rob likes the idea of trying to cut that out of the game. Plus a huge debate about what current players belong in the Hall of Fame, to the point where B-Dog wants the throw the entire topic out!
Welcome back to Brunch with Desb! Do the holidays stress you out? Are you impatiently waiting for the new year to clean your slate? When it comes to the end of the year, we're often just waiting for that new beginning. We reflect on the past 12 months and it often makes us want to leap into January in order to start anew. But, if you truly could, would you honestly erase your previous year and start fresh on January 1st? I know that I have some days where I'm feeling pretty good and others where things are more difficult but for me, it's all about taking those uncomfortable or unsuccessful moments as a learning lesson. So today, I'm talking to you all about acknowledging our feelings and experiences rather than rushing through them to get to the next best thing. Hard days are inevitable but how you show up despite that is the most important. Besides this, we're also diving into some pop culture moments from the past week including that backstage Travis and Taylor kiss and a potential Kardashian breakup. We open the show by talking about Rob bowing out on World’s Toughest Test, why it happened, and what kind of prep goes into doing a physical show like that. Plus Rob jokes about reality shows that we WOULD do, and Jenners could not do shows like Amazing Race and Rob reveals that him and Rick Fox got an offer to compete on that show and couldn’t do it since Rick isn’t an American citizen. And we discuss how much stock Rob puts into the preseason and what he looks for from a squad that’s coming together. And it’s our full season preview as we discuss what we think will happen in the West, who wins the East, Rookie of the Year and who wins it all. Plus some unexpected Dwight Howard lobbying by both Rob and B-Dog, and Rob in convinced that AD could win MFP this season.
Rob takes us behind the scenes of World’s Toughest Test and how it really goes down when the cameras are off, after he got Dez Bryant bounced from the show this past week. And with the passing of both Rob and Jenners fathers, we share some of our favorite family drama stories. Plus after Draymond Green got called an “expensive backpack” by Jordan Poole we joke about the worst insults we’ve ever received, and a listener question wants Rob’s take on the new Star Wars shows. We also talk about the top rated NBA duos as voted by fans and debate whether James Harden even plays a single game for the 76ers this season. And finally did we sell out too fast on Tua in Miami? And who is Rob rooting for in the MLB playoffs?
We are back from a short break, after Rob got caught up doing media for World’s Toughest Test and Jenners lost his dad… and we immediately get onto Rob about nudging Dez Bryant into the challenge that got him kicked off the show. Plus Rob takes us behind the scenes of the show and how some of those impossible challenges really came into play. Rob also thinks that Dame to the Bucks could become scary for the East if he can play off the ball a bit more, and he also believes that the new “Big 3” in Boston can work really well for Boston. Plus “Emo” Jimmy Butler gets some laughs during NBA Media Days, and Rob has praise for Anthony Davis after stating he wants to play in all 82 games. We also touch on some of the college football madness from the last week, offer up a special Big Shot of the Week, and play another classic round of Rapid Fire.
CLICK HERE TO LISTEN! This week on Patreon, we celebrate Chan getting a well deserved promotion at work! At Lauren's insistence, Chan marked the occasion by treating herself to some quiet luxury from 5th Avenue. We briefly consider changing the name of the podcast to "Liquor Talk" after becoming Morgan Wallen fans. This idea is quickly scrapped after making two very important important considerations. Chan just finished Jessica Simpson's memoir Open Book, and we have some thoughts about Jessica and John Mayer's on and off relationship in the early 2000's. We discuss what we would really like to see on RHONY instead of the fake nonsense drama that is continually featured on Real Housewives. Finally, we share our opinions about the Kardashian's and Jenners's "evolving aesthetics" and why we feel rage over their years of gaslighting everyone.
