They're taking pride that they are clamping down on the freedom of speech of students of the United States. That is very significant. That is western democracy at work.” Subscribe for the full interview where we watch some of the most outrageous moments from Congress' questioning of Columbia University President Minouche Shafik, discuss why the Zionist lobby has “every reason to be worried,” and get Professor AbuKhalil's take on the Biden-Trump rematch. 00:00 Intro 04:42 The Four Food Groups of News 19:41 As'ad AbuKhalil interview 20:24 NYT covers up Israel's attack on Iran 30:37 Does the western left care? 31:55 Israels massacre in Lebanon 40:59 US backs Israeli invasion of Rafah 43:41 US vetoes proposal for Palestine statehood 49:04 Will Israel fight Hezbollah? 53:17 Columbia president testimony Learn more about your ad choices. Episode 162 - Making Room for Atheism with Mathew Sharif Mathew Sharif is a first generation Assyrian-American. He was born and raised in the technologically and culturally rich city of San Jose, California. Mathew's parents met and married in America and raised Mathew in an Assyrian household.  Even though Mathew was raised in an Assyrian church, he went the unconventional route of choosing atheism as his truth. Mathew took his questions beyond the church walls and discovered a more authentic explanation for our existence. He was able to read from like free thinkers and find like minded individuals who helped form and refine his perspective. Having taken Philosophy courses at California State University Stanislaus, Mathew's understanding of the world continued to evolve and today he is a proud atheist.  Mathew loves traveling the world while learning about different cultures and perspectives. Mathew's mindset is to live for today, plan for tomorrow. He hopes there will be more after this life, but he isn't counting on it. He claims it isn't easy to embrace life without belief in the divine, but it just makes more sense. Lastly, Mathew loves taking his dog, “Lucifer” out for long walks at the park.  This episode is sponsored by The Oushana Partners-- a husband and wife real estate team. Lebanon can't catch a break.  Amidst the worst economic collapse in the modern era, the Saudis and their regional allies are punishing the tiny country over comments criticizing the war on Yemen. To make matters worse, October saw clashes in Beirut on a front line that dates back to the civil war of the 1980s, with a Saudi and U.S.-backed Christian militia opening fire on Shia protesters affiliated with Hezbollah. Why is all this happening now? Does it have anything to do with the Lebanese civil war? What was that war even about? Was it really just a sectarian bloodbath or an international attack on the Arab left? And how does it relate to the economic collapse and ongoing foreign meddling wreaking havoc on Lebanon today? Here to put it all in its historical context is As'ad AbuKhalil, a professor of political science at California State University Stanislaus.
