A musician who has been part of our Friday morning live music segments, Isaiah Dreissen, joins the show to talk about a few "projects" he has going on. First off is the Cedars Project. The "Cedars Project" in Little Chute refers to the Treaty of the Cedars, a 1836 agreement where the Menominee Indian nation ceded approximately 4 million acres of land to the U.S. government, opening up the Fox River Valley for settlement. Isaiah has created a special space to enhance communities through art and commerce. He also fills us in on the 4th annual Cedars Festival. It's coming up on September 12th and 13th and will feature music from Feed The Dog, the Joseph Huber Trio, and more. We're excited to watch this grow organically. Then Dennis Peters, and Ashley McDermid join for the Heights Pub & Parlor Music Series. This week we feature the music of Chris Hendricks. From Chris's website: “Chris's life story is like a beautiful ballad that has fluid movement, graceful moments, and inspiring emotions. He is an artist, an inspirational speaker and believes passionately in sharing his message of loving kindness, hope and the value of each and every person's life..." His music and energy are just amazing! So blessed he joined us this morning. Maino and the Mayor is a part of the Civic Media radio network and airs Monday through Friday from 6-9 am on WGBW in Green Bay and on WISS in Appleton/Oshkosh. Flowing East and West: The Perfectly Imperfect Journey to a Fulfilled Life
Every February, around this time, approximately 8 billion small heart-shaped candies are created and exchanged. These candies bear messages of love and care, and are often used as gifts to express feelings for another person. In each episode featuring a guest, we ask them if there are any words of wisdom they might share with their younger selves. These words of wisdom are like those Sweetheart treats, but instead of representing love for someone else, they are messages of love directed to our guests themselves, and by extension, to all of us. We are so inspired by the wisdom our guests shared, so we put all these beautiful words together, as a little love treat for our listeners. Enjoy! Thank you to our amazing guests for their words of wisdom: Donna Peek, Darren Gold, Leslie McGuirk, Mike Robbins, Susan Olesek, Laila Tarraf, Nichelle Trambell Spellman, Rachel Bitecofer, Bridgette Corridan, Mary Lin McBride, Ali Ingersoll, Cara Jones, David Richman, Chris Pierce, Chris Tsakalakis, Jill Santa Lucia, Forrest Wright, Aisha Ponds, Donna Rhode, Kristin Firpo, Marney Sullivan, Deborah Egerton, Rebekah Rotstein, Daryan Rahimzadeh, Kat Gordon, Kat Williford, Jeff Slater, Bryan Gillette, Oneika Mays, Vanessa Loder, Kerri Kelly, Seane Corn, Sarah McDonald, Mary Felice, Shelly Tygielski, Joe Walsh, Rebecca Ward, Nicole Swiner, Natalie Grumet, Marti Grimminck, Ava Lashay, Maureen Aarons, Josh Izenberg, Trish Hegarty, Kim Hunter, Ashleigh Parker, Chris Hendricks, Danny Rosin, Michelle Simmons, Katherine Kennedy, Tony Lillios
Flowing East and West: The Perfectly Imperfect Journey to a Fulfilled Life
There are all kinds of reasons Chris Hendricks could have a poor outlook: he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at age 4 and his doctor told him he would have a hard time in life; he was in and out of a wheelchair in middle and high school and suffered the particular brand of cruelty practiced by teenagers; at one point, he lost his grandmother, his girlfriend and his band all at the same time. Life has not been easy for Chris. However, Chris chooses to look for magical moments instead of miserable ones. He uses music when he needs inspiration and lives by the philosophy that believing is seeing instead of the opposite. Please listen in to hear some of Chris' story, and his amazing music that are part of his perfectly imperfect journey. Bio Chris Hendricks' music is a blend of pop and RnB with sprinkles of influence from James Taylor to Eminmen. Chris began singing at the age of four for friends and family and hasn't stopped since. He's been a songwriter, poet, lyricist and guitarist for over 15 years. His debut album Noise (2010) sold over 10,000 units. He's performed across the United States, Canada and in Europe. His music has been used by the National Hockey League, the National Football League, and Major League Soccer. He's written music for film (Hunny Bunny in 2020, Carol of the Bells in 2021, OCD in 2021) and television (Radical Dating in 2017). His single “Noise” was the theme song for the NHL's Carolina Hurricanes and Florida Panthers for the 2012 and 2013 season. His song “Anthem” was used as the signature “goal scoring song” for both NHL teams as well. His most recent releases “Soul on Fire” and “Stars” (2022) have been used as pump up music for the Sandiego Chargers. Chris has toured with, and opened for grammy award winners Amy Grant and Mercy Me as well as the grammy nominated group Delta Rae. Chris has shared the stage with well known artists such as Daughtry, Parachute, Tyler Bryant, Andy McKee, Geri Jewell, Kathy Buckley, Donnie/Andy Demmers, and Jim Parsons. Chris has performed the National Anthem for the Carolina Hurricanes and Durham Bulls. Chris has performed in Prague, Bulgaria, the United Kingdom and the Caribbean. Chris has performed at notable venues across the U.S. including the Alex Theater (LA), Bluebird Cafe (Nashville), The Listening Lounge (NYC), Eddie's Attic (ATL), The Carolina Theater (Durham, NC), The Evening Muse (Charlotte, NC), Lincoln Theater (Raleigh, NC) and Disney World. Chris has performed at many colleges and universities including Elon University, East Carolina University, University of Pittsburgh, UNC Chapel Hill, UNC Wilmington, UNC Greensboro, Duke University, and Peace University. Currently he lives in Chapel Hill NC with his partner Heather and daughter Fern. Website: http://www.iamchrishendricks.com/ Latest Album: https://music.apple.com/us/album/stars-single/1655076559

In episode 34 of the Summits Podcast, co-hosts Vince Todd, Jr. and Daniel Abdallah are joined by Chris Hendricks, President/CEO of Duncan Supply Company and Heroes Foundation Summit Partner. Tune in as Chris shares his father's metastatic renal cell carcinoma journey and how that experience drove Chris to give back to the Indiana cancer community. Why did Chris choose Heroes? “If there's ever been a cause worthy enough of standing our business and our name behind, it's for sure this one.” Subscribe to the audio version of the Summits Podcast https://summitspodcast.fireside.fm Find out more about the Heroes Foundation https://www.heroesfoundation.org Find out more about The Brookfield Group https://thebrookfieldgroup.com Discover Platform 24 co-working https://www.platform24.co What's your cancer story? Hosted by cancer survivor and philanthropist Vince Todd, Jr., Chairman and Co-Founder of the Heroes Foundation, and Heroes Foundation Board Member Daniel Abdallah, the Summits Podcast is a place for people to share their stories. Everyone has a cancer story. From battling a deadly disease to caring for a loved one, when we rise up and face life's greatest challenges, we see with a new vision, feel with a greater passion, and think with a deeper perspective. Along the way, paths cross, journeys intersect, and missions converge. For Vince Todd, it was his own cancer diagnosis that led him and his wife, Cindy, to launch the Heroes Foundation to provide meaningful support to cancer patients, education to promote cancer prevention, and resources to advance research for a cure. What started with friends and family grew into a community. The Summits Podcast is an extension of that community. Our stories are what bring us together. Artists, athletes, doctors, business people - we're all family members, community leaders, and activists. Everyone has a story. Anyone can inspire. No one battles alone. Join the conversation. Let's climb the summit together.

Chris Hendricks is the President of Duncan Supply Company which is a wholesale distributor of refrigeration, HVAC, and food service equipment that has been family-owned and operated since 1940. In this episode, you’ll hear Chris tell us about making his career decision at age 18 to eventually take over the family business, about some of the things that they do at Duncan to be intentional about taking care of their employees including still offering a fully funded company pension, and about working his way up through each role in the business and some of the lessons he learned along the way, including feeling frustrated that a path wasn’t set for him to work his way into taking over the President role from someone who held the position for 47 years, but later understanding how it was beneficial to him. He will work with a panel of judges made up of media leaders with backgrounds in website design, marketing/advertising, editorial, technology, education, and management. Writing For (In)sanity is the brainchild of Chris Hendricks and Chris Greathouse, a glorified web based multimedia adventure focusing on a web comic as the core of the experience. Also discussed are our other hobbies such as video gaming, graphic novels and movies. Essentially, two cool guys talking about the creative process behind their stories and what they have been up to outside of that. Entertaining? Yes. Dangerous? Absolutely.
