Dave Jnr is touring our Highland homeland and Rich is pounding the wet and windy streets of Glasgow so join our two "senior" Bullpen Bros, Yorkshire Dave and Highland Alan for another episode! Are the White Sox really now better than the Tigers? Who can stop our play off chasing duo of the Mariners and Red Sox? Dave gives a great scoring account of the London Series and some of it sounds just like a Champions League night! Some great plays and fan experiences recounted reminding us that sport and its' emotions are universal. Alan recounts his visit to the famed Durham Bulls. Pitching challenges in the MiLB, Negro Leagues Appreciation Night, Who's aiming for our Bull friend? And he's still waiting on a Grand Slam! We finish with discussing phrases you'll hear in football but not baseball and some light hearted chat about potential similarities. The Dog Days of Summer are here, so what better way to start lollygagging through them than to spend some quality time with the Durham Bulls. What's that make us, Larry?!?! Lollygaggers. Time to face it. The NBA and NHL championships just ended. College and pro football are a couple months from starting and the pennant races really won't kick into overdrive until August. (Okay, we do have the Olympics coming up, but one can only count on those every four years. As if. So that gives us baseball and Bull Durham is just perfect for that. We get dropped in on the early stages of another dreary season which finds the Durham Bulls off to an 8-16 start (“8 and 16. How'd we ever win 8?”) For everyone's favorite well-read cougar, Annie Savoy, this is the best time of the year and once Ebby Calvin “Nuke” Laloosh and Crash Davis show up, it gets a whole lot better. Join us as we look back at Bull Durham which starred Kevin Costner, Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins - each of whom had star turn or two prior to this, but launched to stardom after. And remember - this is a simple game. You throw the ball. You hit the ball. You catch the ball.
A trio of Bullpen Bros as Rich spends too much celebrating the fact only his Mariners boast a winning record within the Bullpen. White Sox fan Dave Jnr is relieved that his Chicago team MLB scpreline only shows the last 10 games and currently isn't changing. Alan tells us that the Tigers once again hit 500, will they stay there? And Red Sox fan, Yorkshire Dave, chats to us about Bunts and Brawls and completes the alliteration bringing the Brewers into it. We're heading off in different directions shortly to watch both the London Series with the Phillies and the Mets and we'll see the Durham Bulls too host the Charlotte Knights who might have some good news for the White Sox coming up! The Trade Deadline looms and we try to figure out the team's strategies here as question marks over teams who should be contending will potentially trade their star players. As soccer fans we make it make sense! And there is a trophy in the clubhouse as Dave Jnr brings home the Football Quiz Cup as the Bros enjoy a night out and support children with cancer. There are all kinds of reasons Chris Hendricks could have a poor outlook: he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at age 4 and his doctor told him he would have a hard time in life; he was in and out of a wheelchair in middle and high school and suffered the particular brand of cruelty practiced by teenagers; at one point, he lost his grandmother, his girlfriend and his band all at the same time. Life has not been easy for Chris. However, Chris chooses to look for magical moments instead of miserable ones. He uses music when he needs inspiration and lives by the philosophy that believing is seeing instead of the opposite. Grid-enhancing technologies (GETs), such as sensors, power-flow devices, and software, aim to optimize the existing grid and potentially reduce the need for new infrastructure. While GETs have been embraced globally, their adoption has been slower in the U.S. due to financial incentives for utilities to build capital-intensive projects and the need for further validation, industry standards, and security considerations. Some states and FERC have begun promoting GETs to enhance grid efficiency and reduce congestion costs. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows.
