This week we're diving into some of the most frustrating systems many Americans face, starting with healthcare. Liz joins us from Rhode Island and shares a harrowing family emergency and the implications of her uncle's hospital stay... The conversation pivots to the striking similarities between the healthcare system and the South Carolina bond system, highlighting the lack of uniformity and how the discretion involved feels like gambling. And consequently, the disturbing Nathan Cureton case, where a man with a violent history was released on bond to attend a graduation just days before an alleged kidnapping and murder-suicide… it all raises serious questions about public safety and the system's decision-making. We broaden our critique of the criminal justice system, discussing the frustration with police thoroughness and the feeling among the public that they have to be "part-time detectives". This includes a deep dive into the confusing circumstances of the Chris Skinner case, involving his drowning death, the police and coroner ruling it an accident despite video suggesting suicide, and baffling police interviews that seemed to lack interest or key questions. Finally, Mandy shares a personal update – she's been notified that Bill Padget wants to depose her in a long dead lawsuit that feels more like harassment. We discuss the process, the challenges for journalists facing legal action years after reporting a story, and Mandy's strong feelings about the lawyer and lawsuit… It's a raw look at confusing, costly, and sometimes dangerous systems that feel rigged against the average person… but that's why we're talking about it to educate and hopefully entertain! ☕ Cups Up! ⚖️ Episode References Katie Couric Gets A Colonoscopy on TODAY

Investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell are back and we begin today's episode revisiting (01:02) how Scott Spivey was shot to death in his vehicle by Weldon Boyd and Bradley Williams in September 2023. A significant development comes in the form of a "legal filing", an "absurd 9-page motion to stay" by Bradley Williams' attorney, Robert E. Lee… yup, that's the name he prefers… We'll also share a disturbing, but pertinent call between Weldon and his granny discussing the incident. Then (23:00) we share updates on the 'updated' sentence of suspended Hilton Head Island attorney Peter Strauss, the as-yet-unscheduled sentencing for Russell Laffitte, Michael Colucci's retrial scheduled for June 16th and Lee Gilley's Houston status hearing on June 4th for his murder trial. As our primary focus, (25:06) Mandy and Liz critically examine the 2025 Horry County Police investigation into the 2021 death of Chris Skinner, husband of JP Miller's alleged mistress, highlighting discrepancies between the official ruling of accidental death and video evidence suggesting something else. We'll share police interviews with Chris Skinner's friends, noting the friend's belief the death was a suicide possibly influenced by JP Miller, and questioning the wife's inconsistent statements and demeanor. Ultimately, we are advocating for truth and justice in all these cases. Lots to cover, so let's dive in...

Investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell share updates (1:19) about South Carolina's thrice-accused rapist Bowen Turner and his quest to get off the sex offender list, plus the latest in the (2:30) Christa Bauer case in Houston, where her husband, Lee Gilley, stands accused of murdering her and her unborn baby. (3:34) Also on today's show, Mandy and Liz comb through Buster Murdaugh's amended defamation complaint against Warner Brothers and share their thoughts on Buster's arguments and the challenges he and his defendants might face. (39:30) Plus, Myrtle Beach churchy business bro “Pastor” John-Paul Miller is at it again. The LUNASHARK Media team FOIA'd for a 911 call JP placed from his newest mid-scandal church on St. Patrick's Day. Turns out, JP — who stands accused of raping one child and sexually assaulting another — has some sort of homeschool operation happening in a rough-looking strip mall … or at least that's what he told police. Is JP running a quasi school? Or was he just saying this in the hopes of once again getting his revenge against protesters, who were filming him from the public parking lot? And finally, a quick update about Myrtle Beach Police Department's announcement that it reopened and reclosed the (36:22) Chris Skinner case. Let's dive in...
