Researchers, led by Konstantin Batygin, used the orbits of Jupiter's small moons, Amalthea and Thebe, to deduce these findings, providing critical insights into the early stages of planetary formation. The implications of this research could reshape our understanding of gas giants and their formation processes across the universe.Gamma Rays and LightningIn a groundbreaking discovery, scientists have detected intense flashes of gamma rays produced by lightning strikes. This phenomenon, known as terrestrial gamma ray flashes, occurs when lightning accelerates electrons to near light speeds, resulting in bursts of radiation. The study, published in Science Advances, sheds light on the high-energy processes occurring in Earth's atmosphere, enhancing our understanding of lightning's power and its effects on our planet.Precision Formation Flying in SpaceHistory has been made in Earth orbit as two spacecraft from the European Space Agency's Proba 3 mission successfully flew in millimeter-perfect formation for the first time. This precision alignment is crucial for studying the Sun's corona, allowing the two satellites to simulate a single large spacecraft. We discuss the technology behind this mission and its potential to revolutionize solar observations.www.spacetimewithstuartgary.com✍️ Episode ReferencesNature Astronomyhttps://www.nature.com/natureastronomy/Science Advanceshttps://www.science.org/journal/sciadvBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/spacetime-space-astronomy--2458531/support.00:00 This is Space Time Series 28, Episode 64 for broadcast on 28 May 202501:00 Jupiter's original size and magnetic field12:15 Gamma ray flashes unleashed by lightning22:30 Precision formation flying in space30:00 Science report: New contact lens technology for night vision

This revelation, based on calculations involving Hawking radiation, sheds light on how black holes and other celestial bodies lose mass over time. We discuss the implications of this research and the fascinating mechanics behind black hole evaporation, including the surprising equivalence in decay rates between neutron stars and black holes.Gravity's Quirks on Asteroid BennuAstronomers have uncovered bizarre gravitational dynamics at play on the near-Earth asteroid Bennu, based on data from NASA's Osiris Rex mission. This small celestial body exists in a delicate balance between gravity and centrifugal forces, creating a unique environment that could lead to its eventual disintegration. We delve into how Bennu's increasing rotation might impact its structural integrity and potential future interactions with Earth.India's Manned Spaceflight AmbitionsThe Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has announced plans for its first manned spaceflight, set to launch in early 2027. This historic mission will follow an unmanned test flight of the Gaganyan spacecraft, which is designed to carry a crew into low Earth orbit. We discuss the training and preparations of the selected Indian Air Force pilots and the technical challenges ISRO faces as it embarks on this new frontier in space exploration.www.spacetimewithstuartgary.com✍️ Episode ReferencesJournal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physicshttps://www.cosmos.esa.int/cosmologyNature Astronomyhttps://www.nature.com/natastronomy/Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/spacetime-space-astronomy--2458531/support.00:00 This is Space Time Series 28, Episode 63 for broadcast on 26 May 202501:00 New estimates on the universe's end12:30 The strange gravity of asteroid Bennu22:45 India's plans for its first manned spaceflight30:00 Science report: Herpes virus linked to Alzheimer's disease

SpaceVIP was responsible for booking the Axiom-1 Spaceflight mission to the ISS! But that's not all that Roman & SpaceVIP are working on to play a part in building the space economy, creating cultural moments with tourist flights to the edge of space, and helping premium customers have one place to access every "Astronaut" experience possible. SpaceVIP is making it easier for individuals with means to access everything the space industry has to offer to this kind of experience in today's world. Just like early air travel, we discuss the reality of technology development for "access to space" like we have today with "access to air". On this episode of The Real OShow, Joshua and Zachary dive into the wild world of WWE and why it's having a serious moment right now. With Triple H pulling back the curtain and showing fans the writers' room, it's clear that storytelling—not just smackdowns—is what's keeping wrestling relevant. WrestleMania keeps going viral year after year, and it's not just nostalgia—there's something real happening behind the scenes. Meanwhile, the NFL Draft is everywhere… but let's be honest—it's massively overrated. The hype is sky high, but do we really need three hours to watch a guy walk to a podium? We break down why the Draft might be more boring than people are willing to admit. And then there's the wildest headline of the week: Blue Origin allegedly shot Katy Perry and co into space. Yeah… we're calling cap. The footage looks shaky (literally and figuratively), and we're not buying the narrative. Is this the new frontier or just another PR stunt? Tune in for hot takes, bold claims, and real conversations only brothers Joshua and Zachary can bring. All love,Check Out our Youtube Page- https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoqz3s_B_VYHuQtuVIDxpiQTik Tok - https://www.tiktok.com/@therealoshow?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pcTweet @zacharyowings2 with what you thought about the podcast or what you want us to discuss in future shows. Music by Leno Tk- Greatness (Streaming All Platforms)

We'll unravel the bizarre inconsistencies surrounding the launch footage, the conveniently timed media blitz, and the symbolism hidden in plain sight.Could this entire event have been a massive ritual tied to the Baphomet — a desperate energy grab as Hollywood's influence crumbles? And what role does Jeff Bezos, one of the most powerful architects of modern media, really play in this cosmic charade? Tonight, we're asking the uncomfortable questions the mainstream refuses to even whisper:Was this 'space launch' a sign of technological achievement — or an occult ceremony broadcast to the world under the guise of exploration? Is Katy Perry, long rumored to be entangled with elite agendas, just another pawn in a much deeper and darker game? Join us as we expose the cracks in the story, connect the dots they don't want you to see, and reveal how the decline of Hollywood's stranglehold might be pushing the elite into ever more desperate displays of illusion and control.

The pictures made it look like a parody. Eleven minutes after taking off from a West Texas launch site, Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin space capsule touched down with its all-female celebrity crew. Bezos opened the capsule door and greeted his fiancé. One by one the women filed out, each in their snazzy blue, flared space outfits. Having technically been in space for just four minutes, the popstar Katy Perry knelt down and kissed the ground. I feel the same about space tourism as I do about climbing Mt Everest. In the broadest possible terms, the idea is really appealing. I'd love to go to space! But as it stands today, actually appreciating how much resource is involved, and the extent to which money rather than talent is the only thing separating anyone from the loftiest heights... I can't bear the thought. We all know Jeff Bezos isn't spending billions upon billions to push the boundaries of scientific understanding. He's going as a vanity project. It all feels a bit gross. Perhaps when space tourism is a little more normalised and they can achieve economies of scale, I'll quietly eat my words and find the whole thing a little more palatable. But for what it's worth, I'd hand my explorer-of-the-week award not to Katy Perry and Jeff Bezos' other half, but to the crew of the Schmidt Ocean Institute's Falkor vessel, who just captured the first ever footage of a colossal squid in its natural environment. Colossal squid are the largest invertebrates on the planet – 500kgs without a spine! And yet for all that science has achieved, we know remarkably little about them. It's only a century since the species was first discovered, and we know most of what we know about them today because of their predators. Sperm whales, in turns out, are much better at tracking down colossal squid than we are. 600m below the surface of the South Atlantic, somewhere off the coast of the Antarctic South Sandwich Islands, in an area so remote that the next closest humans were on the International Space Station, the group of scientists used an unmanned submersible to film the most extraordinary footage of a juvenile colossal squid. Forget anything that Katy Perry or Jeff Bezos' wife-to-be might be seeing out the window of their shuttle; set against the absolute black of the deep deep, the squid was purpleish and orange, elegant, brilliantly, beautifully alien. Isn't it amazing that our species can send a rocket with a popstar to space, and yet it's taken us until 2025 to actually record an Earth-based tentacled beast that can grow as long as a bus and weigh as much as a cow? I just think it's such a timely reminder. For whatever fascinations and discoveries await us in the infinite depths of the cosmos, there are still so many miracles and mysteries much closer to home, in the infinite depths of the real blue origin. China says it is increasing tariffs from 84% to 125% on U.S. goods starting Saturday. President Trump this week had increased tariffs on China to 145%, escalating the trade war. CBS News' Weijia Jiang has the latest. CBS News business analyst Jill Schlesinger joins "CBS Mornings" to break down the trade relationship and economic impact of China's increase in tariffs on U.S. goods, plus what to expect in the financial markets. Erik and Lyle Menendez will learn Friday if they still have a chance to get out of prison after more than three decades. The brothers were convicted of murdering their parents and want their resentencing hearings to go forward as planned next week. However, the new L.A. district attorney is trying to stop them, saying he believes the brothers haven't earned a second chance. Reggie Reed says his life "flipped upside down" when his mom disappeared on Aug. 22, 1987, and was later found dead, when he was 6 years old. Decades later, his dad, Reginald Reed Sr., was arrested for her murder. CBS News' Vladimir Duthiers delved into the story for "48 Hours." Technology has made it possible for people without much training to travel to space. Two companies — Blue Origin and Virgin Galactic — will rocket people to the edge of space and back. Nearly 120 people have launched with the companies so far. CBS News' Mark Strassman explores what's next for this era of space travel. Live from the Blue Origin launch site, Vladimir Duthiers gives a behind-the-scenes look at the mood surrounding Gayle King's upcoming flight with an all-female space crew. With the countdown on, Gayle King shares her hopes, nerves, and the message she wants her journey to send to viewers of all ages. "Hacks" co-creator Paul W. Downs, who stars as talent manager Jimmy, joins "CBS Mornings " to discuss balancing egos and ambition in the show's fourth season. Trump win: Supreme Court blocks rehiring fired workers, Planned Parenthood closes 3 MI abortion mills, Space flight around Earth's poles

The WorldView in 5 Minutes

It's Wednesday, April 9th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark and Adam McManus Ugandan Muslim husband kills newly converted Christian wife A Muslim man in Uganda stabbed his wife to death after she converted to Christianity last month. Forty-one-year-old Nasiimu Mirembe was the mother of six children. She put her faith in Christ on March 21st after hearing the Gospel from a friend. On March 23rd, she attended a church service for the first time. Tragically, her husband attacked her on her way home from church.  Mirembe's friend told Morning Star News, “Immediately he started slapping his wife. I started screaming and shouting for help. [He] then removed a long knife and started cutting her with it.” She died from her wounds the next day. Psalm 116:15 says, “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His saints.” Church attendance up in United Kingdom A new report from the Bible Society found that church attendance is growing in the United Kingdom. Twelve percent of adults in England and Wales attended church at least monthly last year, up from 8% in 2018. Young people, especially young men, are leading the growth. Sixteen percent of 18 to 24-year-olds attend church monthly, up from 4% in 2018. Church attendance by young men grew from 4% to 21% over the same time period.  In Titus 2:1, 2, and 6, the Apostle Paul wrote, “Speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine: that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience. … Likewise, exhort the young men to be sober-minded.” Supreme Court blocks reinstatement of fired federal workers for now In the United States, the Supreme Court on Tuesday blocked an order that the Trump administration rehire 16,000 federal employees who were let go in mass firings aimed at dramatically downsizing the federal government, reports The Associated Press. The justices acted in the administration's emergency appeal of a ruling by a federal judge in California ordering that the probationary employees at six federal agencies be reinstated while a lawsuit plays out because their firings didn't follow federal law. Appearing on NBC News, legal analyst Danny Cevallos spoke to the practical fallout of the Supreme Court decision on the 16,000 federal workers who were let go. CEVALLOS: “When it comes to these probationary workers, functionally, if they're not being reinstated for a certain period of time, they're going to go find other work. So, this is one of those situations where a stay in this case may eventually lead to them just going off and getting other jobs, and they may never return, even if they someday are entitled to return.” President Trump boosts coal production President Donald Trump signed an executive order yesterday to boost coal  as an energy source. The order allows some older coal-fired power plants to stay online instead of being retired. This comes as data centers, artificial intelligence, and electric cars increase the demand for electricity in the U.S. The order also removes some restrictions on coal mining and encourages coal leasing on U.S. lands. Georgia passed Religious Freedom Restoration Act Last Friday, Georgia became the 30th state to enact a Religious Freedom Restoration Act. The act protects people from unjust government punishment for living out their faith. Greg Chafuen with Alliance Defending Freedom said, “Our laws should protect the freedom of every person to live and worship according to their faith. This law provides a sensible balancing test for courts to use when reviewing government policies that infringe upon the religious freedom rights of Georgians.” IRS ends investigation into church praying for school board candidate First Liberty Institute announced Monday that the Internal Revenue Service ended its investigation of a church in Florida recently. New Way Church in Palm Coast, Florida came under investigation after praying for a local school board candidate during a service last year. Jeremy Dys with First Liberty Institute said, “We are pleased that the IRS not only closed its investigation, but affirmed that this church's activities of praying for political candidates during its church service do not threaten its tax-exempt status.” Planned Parenthood closes 3 Michigan abortion mills Planned Parenthood of Michigan announced last Wednesday that it will close three locations in the state. Appearing on Fox 2 in Detroit, Michigan Planned Parenthood President Paula Greear was upset. GREEAR: “A lot of people have reached out to me, and they are angry and they are hurt. And you know what? We are too!” The abortion group blamed funding cuts by the Trump administration.  GREEAR: “They are trying to do everything to defund Planned Parenthood.” Young pro-lifers have been praying outside one of the abortion mills for years. Kevin Weed, the headmaster for St. Michael High School in Petoskey, Michigan, told CatholicVote, “Many people are attributing the closing to the Trump administration's cutting of funds, which I'm sure makes a big difference. Our students have been praying there, and those prayers have been answered. However that came to be, we're just happy that this facility is closed.” Space flight around Earth's poles And finally, a cryptocurrency billionaire and his crew of three people completed the first space flight around the Earth's poles last week. Chun Wang is a Chinese-born investor of Malta, the island country located in the Mediterranean Sea between Sicily and North Africa. The bitcoin billionaire funded the mission aboard a SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule.  The crew launched last Monday and returned Friday. Together, they accomplished the first crewed orbit over the north and south poles. Before the launch, Chun said, “My own journey has been shaped by lifelong curiosity and a fascination with pushing boundaries. As a kid, I used to stare at a blank white space at the bottom of a world map and wonder what's out there. … We hope our mission will further inspire later people to do the same.” Psalm 19:1 says, “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims His handiwork.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Wednesday, April 9th, in the year of our Lord 2025. Subscribe for free  by Amazon Music or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com.
