Tiens, en parlant d'habitude, Zaius encense encore une fois Conspiracy of the Planet of the Apes dans cet épisode. Back to the Planet of the Apes. 2020 has been a year filled with catastrophic disasters of all types, and the only thing unclear is which movie we're reenacting at the current moment.  Backdraft meets Twister meets 2012, with a dash of the Day after Tomorrow and a near miss by Armageddon.  If those weren't crazy enough, there were a few reports of brushes from Orca and Jaws tossed in for variety, with slices of Yul Brenner and Chuck Heston in The Ten Commandments (Locusts and plagues, no less).  I could point you to news stories showing all of those things this year.   Both the man-made and natural disasters we're now facing are something we feel helpless against, at least at the scale we're facing now, so how does one combat all of that?  The answer might be to combat the things you can, and survive the ones you can't.  It's one in the “win” column if you get off Isla Nublar alive, whether or not the T-Rex is still standing when you leave. So how does one survive?  Preparation is the best weapon we have.  And for those of us who also have non-human living things to protect, the difficulty level goes way, way up when responding to an emergency (ever tried to catch a panicked chicken?).  Chaos theory gone wild.  Today, we have just the person to tell us about how to go about it.  We're bringing you our conversation with Julie Atwood of The Halter Project, who started by training first responders in safe animal emergency response, but broadened the scope, now offering education and resources for the rest of us.   We have a visuals up on our Backyard Green YouTube channel, if you would like to see.  Training EMT's to save a plastic horse (in preparation for the real thing) has to be seen to get the full impact of the scope of the task.  We'll let you insert your own mental C.G. disaster of choice in the background on that one. Links:https://www.halterproject.org/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaos_theory https://www.britannica.com/science/chaos-theory https://www.sdhumane.org/support-us/volunteer/emergency-response-team.html  http://www.actforlibraries.org/hurricane-naming-convention/#:~:text=Hurricane%20Naming%20Convention.%20The%20storms%20that%20the%20United,cyclone%20in%20the%20Southern%20Pacific%20and%20Indian%20oceans. https://www.wmo.int/pages/prog/www/tcp/ https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ https://www.washingtonpost.com/weather/2020/05/16/tornado-alley-flawed-concept/ https://jurrassic-wolrd.fandom.com/wiki/John_Hammond https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2020/06/14/876002404/locusts-are-a-plague-of-biblical-scope-in-2020-why-and-what-are-they-exactly https://www.fire.ca.gov/ https://www.imdb.com/list/ls002913604/Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/agriCulturePodcast)

The Hotel Business during a pandemic is like other businesses… not so good.  However, for some reason they need to stay open and Christine is an executive in the Hospitality business.  She tells us what that’s like including guests checking in for “several weeks” presumably to quarantine themselves before heading home wherever that may be. How would you like to work in housekeeping at this time, or any time cleaning up after people.  Another group of heroes in this pandemic.  We wrap up reminiscing about our friend Will Forte who is the voice of Shaggy in the upcoming Scooby Doo movie and is working on a second MacGruber… if you are a fan of MacGruber like me, I’ll have more news about that at the end of this episode. And Christine and I start off talking about a Zoom meeting Passover which immediately gets me talking about Chuck Heston in The Ten Commandments…  It’s Corona Covid Commandments in Colorado on The Modern Moron… thanks for listening...

We did "The Passion of the Christ" last year telling the story of the Crucifixion, this year is an appropriate continuation of that story as we get some of the periphery and aftermath as we talk about "The Robe" with the Anarcho-Christian. In this biblical epic, a drunk and disillusioned Roman, Marcellus Gallio (Richard Burton), wins Jesus' robe in a dice game after the crucifixion. Marcellus has never been a man of faith like his slave, Demetrius (Victor Mature), but when Demetrius escapes with the robe, Marcellus experiences disturbing visions and feels guilty for his actions. Convinced that destroying the robe will cure him, Marcellus sets out to find Demetrius -- and discovers his Christian faith along the way. There's a strong anti-state message against the tyrant Caligula at the end, for which the sentence is death. The Cult of Matt and Mark

The NRA fantasy which Chuck Heston somehow misconstrued for reality later in life, The Omega Man attempts a worthy adaptation of the Matheson vampire classic I Am Legend... and kind of fails. The tone changes and plot holes, including The Family as worthy post-apocalyptic adversaries, divorced the film from the lonely psychological epic of its source material. There's been three IAL adaptations, all failing to deliver the titular goods due to Hollywood's need for a well tested ending. The Omega Man, sadly, is just an imperfect milestone towards the yet-to-be-made film we all deserve.Download:  203 The Omega Man

"Chop Suey, the Galactic Emperor" The elusive Robin Bland serves up this dubious dish, with a hefty helping of hairy kebab meat, in 1976's The Brain of Morbius. But it's still a more appetising proposition than the Liquorice Bootlace Surprise at Chez Mehendri, a Bohemian bistro with a red, white and green wine list. The latest renegade Time Lord may be half man/half Macra with a goldfish bowl bonce but he's not the only patchwork person around. He's joined by a bearded old crone who's a cross between Chuck Heston and one of his Apes, and a home help who's equal parts Richard III, Liam Gallagher and Abu Hamza. Sarah goes blind and the Doctor gets blind drunk but sobers up in time to blind the Sisterhood with chimney sweep science. Then Morbius broadsides us with a colossal non-canon ball - the bombshell that Tom Baker is, in fact, the mystery 12th Doctor. It's lively, it's loony and it's lurid so listen in as Jim and Martin bend their minds in an attempt to make sense of it all.
