Kenny Interviewed Norm over the phone in May 2018 about the inception of young adults / college students engaging the mission of God globally through the COTN beginning in the 1960's. Youth in Mission was led in various forms under that name from 1977; was paused in 2012; re-launched in 2014 and discontinued in 2018. Hundreds of young adults served in YiM during those years in many different countries, including the USA/Canada region, and many leaders of the COTN have been shaped by and interfaced with the kingdom impact of Youth In Mission.
Guest speaker Rev Philip Bell (Donegall Road, CotN) preaches from Romans 12:1-8. May you be blessed as you listen.

With Gav back from his holiday, there's plenty to catch up on in this slightly delayed 6OP pod. Arron returned safely from the Far East in time to capture the third major of the RACDG year – the Cock of the North. We'll recap both the COTN at Close House and July's Calluna Cup, decided over 36 holes in tough conditties at Hollinwell. There's also a look back to the first Roost Major, held at Sutton Coldandverywetfield, where a couple of Flockers incredibly managed to shoot under level net, despite having to putt through lakes on every green. We'll also have the usual updates on the Order of Merit and internal 6OP draft, goals and challenges.Ways to follow Six, Over Par - Tweet us @sixoverpar - IG @six_over_parThanks for listening, see you on the first tee !

Interview #1 with T. Scott Daniels: I asked one of the Nazarene church denomination's newest General (Global) Superintendents, T. Scott Daniels, for this interview with 2 main questions in mind: 1) His hope and heart for millennial and GenZ leaders and pastors currently in COTN and their parishioner peers. 2) What are the major challenges facing the church today and he envisions young adult leaders being a part of the solution. But that's not where we started. Nor where we finished. And tackled so many things in-between. This multi-episode interview hits the personal, pastoral, philosophical, theological, and practical. If you already know Scott (or think you do;) hopefully you'll gain some new insight, encouragement, and appreciation for th importance of living in the tensions of our times. https://bible.com/events/48917098 Church of the Nazarene - Harrisonburg Campus Mental Health & The Christian - A Panel Discussion Mental Health & The Christian - A Panel Discussion This morning we're taking a break from our series, "The Wanderers" to focus on Mental Health & The Christian. Our panel will include Mark Sensabaugh, LPC, Ashlea Link and Pastor Margaret Michael. Mark is a Licensed Counselor for Journey Counseling Ministries in Harrisonburg. Ashlea is a School Social Worker for Rockingham County Schools and Margaret is Outreach Pastor for COTN. For more information on Journey Counseling Ministries, visit: https://www.journeycounselingministries.orgAnd for more information about Mark, visit: https://www.journeycounselingministries.org/staff/The American Medical Association recently concluded that the pandemic has triggered a 25% increase in prevalence of anxiety and depression worldwide. No single event has ever had that dramatic effect. One scholar writing in the National Library of Medicine recently wrote that, we are now in a ‘'tsunami of psychiatric illness.'' Another doctor wrote that, despite all of the time at home, mental health concerns and burnout have skyrocketed in the workplace. Nearly six times as many employers report increased mental health issues among employees since the pandemic began—burnout being among the most common. And in the middle of that, those of us who are believers in Christ find we are not immune. So, what do we do about it? This panel is designed to take a practical approach toward addressing these issues.2 Timothy 1:7For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.Romans 12:2Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.2 Corinthians 10:5We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.Romans 8:5-6Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. Mark referenced books in his comments this morning. In this message, Dr. Eric Montgomery invites us along on a journey to the cross as we head into Holy Week. In his message, we see the fingerprints of God throughout history as we walk through familiar passages with Jesus in His journey to the Cross. The salvation we get to experience that Jesus Christ made open to us on that Good Friday was God's plan all along from the very beginning and should increase our faith.
In this message, Pastor Denise Steyn shares that Jesus Christ is the Lion of the Tribe of Judah and we get to stand firm in the authority He has given us in the face of our adversary. In Genesis, Judah played a vital role in the story of Joseph and we take a look at the correlation between that role and the role of Jesus, who is Judah’s descendent, many years later.
This past Sunday Seun Olarewaju shared that our Christian race is a marathon not a sprint, and the goal is not just to stay the course but run in a way so as to finish well. We can only achieve this through God's inner working in us so we have the desire and the power to shine brightly for his glory. This is our true act of worship.
Listen to this past Sunday's message by lead pastor Greg Timms called "Hugging a Porcupine". That God can bring healing to a hurting world through us, His sons and daughters. That we would allow God to remove arrows from the enemy and bring healing to our lives.

Music is powerful! Songs and music can often shift or change the atmosphere. The words we sing or listen to are powerful and it can change or altar how we feel or think. Worship lifts our spirits, encourages us and we are built up through His presence in worship as His truths are declared over us. God want us living free and living whole.

Children of the Night is a privately funded non-profit organization established in 1979 by Dr. Lois Lee, who is the worlds leading expert in rescuing child sex trafficking victims. Dr. Lee holds a Ph.D. in Sociology and Anthropology, a Juris Doctor in Law and is an active member of the California State Bar. COTN’s mission is to provide intervention in the lives of children who are sexually exploited and vulnerable to or involved in prostitution and pornography.Dr. Lee maintains a 70% to 80% success rate with her life-changing work that mobilizes children from prostitution to successful adult life. Children of the Night graduates go on to become Homeland Security, teachers, bankers, social workers, firefighters, and other professionals. In this episode we discuss:Why she began in 1979 rescuing child prostitutes off the street, housing 250 kids in three years in her apartmentHow the hillside strangler in Los Angeles was prominent in her movementWhat every child who is trafficking usually has in common at an early ageWhy prostitutes love their pimps and how the pimp strategizes in order to “hook” the girlsWhy she doesn’t believe child trafficking should go to jail and why testifying against their pimp should be a healing process for themWhy she ended housing for children a few years ago and moved her program digital, therefore can help children around the worldWhat she believes is the solution to sex traffickingWhy children prostitutes have a lower rate of suicide than the average child who is troubledConnect with Dr. Lois Leewebsite: www.childrenofthenight.orgConnect with Ashley:Website: www.ashleyrivard.comInstagram:@ashleydrivard
God is wanting to breathe hope into our lives when it seems like there is no hope. As Peter walked out onto the water, we learn that keeping our gaze fixed on Jesus is the only way. We see the impossible made possible as we step out in faith and allow Him to take hold of us when we feel ourselves slipping into fear. Christ is our living hope and its Christ in us the hope of glory.

This week we take the albums KISS through COTN and remove one song at a time until only 1 remains. Plus the news!
We all want to hear that God knows us, sees us and that He has a plan for our lives. Encouragement is something we can feel and it shouldn’t be an occasional experience, it should be a lifestyle, a belief system. God’s language is encouragement and often we read that God shows up and says “Fear not, be of good courage”. Learning to speak a new language isn’t natural at the beginning but we need to be intentional and embrace a culture of encouragement.

Rev. Mashangu Maluleka shares about how God led him into starting Divine Hope Church of the Nazarene and what its vision is about.
How do we live in victory despite what is happening on the earth at the moment? We can live in victory by applying the values & principles of the Kingdom, even though we are on lockdown. The danger for any Christian during this time is to push pause and live overwhelmed by the situation and not live where God wants us to live. Pastor Greg Timms shared this past Sunday that he believes God is wanting us to reset, reboot, repent and step up and live like sons and daughters of the King. What we are going through right now, is a golden opportunity for the church to rise up and show the world how to live in victory!

On Sunday, Denise Steyn shared on the Renewing of our minds. Our Spirits are born again at salvation, but our minds need to be renewed day by day. We can have the mind of Christ and the process of renewing is changing the way we think, from being bent on not trusting the Lord to knowing He is good and trusting Him with our lives. It’s time to start living in integrity - when all the places inside of us begin to line up and tell the same story! We do this by getting real with God, reading the Bible, thinking on purpose, reaching out for help and worshiping God despite our circumstances. - Romans 12:2

This past Sunday Pastor Greg Timms unpacked Psalm 91. Everything changes because of who He is and who we are in Him. Truth trumps both our experiences and belief systems. Truth is Jesus! We need to live under the shelter of Most High and the shadow of the Almighty. When we step into His shadow we find our true identities as sons and daughters. There is a place where we can rest in the shadow of Almighty. It’s our choice, it’s available to everyone. Where do you want to dwell?

This past Sunday Pastor John Scholtz in his message lessons in hearing God's voice shared that in John 10:27 we read "His sheep know His voice..." and we know that God can speak to us in many different ways. We are encouraged to ask for wisdom, we are encouraged to ask for direction and we are encouraged to ask God for whatever we need to understand. We just have to be in that place to have an ear to hear.

This past Sunday Eric Montgomery shared that we are citizens of heaven if we believe in the name of Jesus Christ. Because of our citizenship, forces of evil can’t touch what God has created and whom He has called. In much of today’s culture, identity has become fluid but God wants us to know that we have an unshakable identity. It’s not time to live like heaven is punishing us, but rather that heaven is out to permit us to enter in. God points to the stamp in our heavenly passports and that stamp says righteous, it says holy, it says chosen and it says, Citizen

This past Sunday Pastor Fred Steyn shared how Jesus picked the disciples even though they weren’t perfect or the best of the best. His love healed them, made them whole, changed their view of themselves and transformed them from rags to riches. God doesn’t require us to be qualified before He calls us, He simply wants us to answer His call, He will equip and qualify us. God the creator, sees you, knows you and says to you today “I have chosen you!”

Within the church today the talk of money has become a sensitive topic. Jesus spoke a lot about money and so we looked at what God says about money in His word. The Bible says that we have not, because we ask not and we know that God is our provider. Even with money, there is an invitation to step into a relationship with God. The world chases after money, but we are to run after the Kingdom, which is righteousness, peace & joy.

We often catch ourselves saying things that our parents used to say and today we make choices based on who we think we are because of words spoken over us. Words carry weight. We see this throughout the Bible, words are powerful. The Kingdom culture that God wants us to live in is to speak truth and life over each other. It’s never too late to receive healing from words that have brought damage to us and to receive the words from God that build, edifies and encourages us!
Chris and Debbie Clark founded Children of the Nations (COTN) in 1995. Today, Children of the Nations is working in the USA, Dominican Republic, Sierra Leone, Malawi, Uganda and most recently in Haiti to provide care for orphaned and destitute children. Children of the Nations, through funding primarily from child sponsorship and individual donations, operates homes, schools, farms, skill centers, clinics, and village feeding centers in an effort to provide quality care for our children. Each country office is established with an individual mission-based, nonprofit organization and is recognized among reputable Christian charities. From the initial desire in 1995 to help children in Africa by “rescuing” them from their despair, to today—creating a family for each child—Children of the Nations has come so far. In 1995, Children of the Nations was started with a vision, and a monthly budget of $300. Today, Children of the Nations is a worldwide movement of people—over 400 US and international staff, tens of thousands of volunteers, an annual budget of more than $7 million, and a family that has grown to help thousands of children annually in Africa and the Caribbean.
