Check out the latest episode of our Conversational Selling podcast to learn more about Jessie. In this episode, Nancy and Jessie discuss the following:How to make the most out of LinkedIn.Master the art of selling on LinkedIn without sounding too pushy.Understand how building connections on LinkedIn can lead to successful sales.Explore why the term 'sales' often has a negative perception.Determine the ideal posting frequency on LinkedIn for optimal results.Gain insights into the algorithms that LinkedIn uses to block certain accounts.Avoid common mistakes when creating content on LinkedIn to enhance engagement.Key Takeaways:  You never know who's watching on LinkedIn because people are scrolling the feed and waiting for that message or content to help them act.Sales has a negative connotation because people often think about the door-to-door salesman or woman, car sales dealers, etc.To sell your stuff to your audience, people need to see it. That's why reactions are essential.A lesson that I learned over time is that you want to let a post-run for a few days because if a post does well, even a week later, it could still reach new people.I am like, "Hey, educational content is great, but move towards more authority-building content, and then we can transform it into lead-generating content.""I would say the traditional thinking of LinkedIn is that it's still a place where people share updates about new jobs or certain company updates. I had that too out of sight till about three years back, but I also figured out that LinkedIn is still the number one business platform in the world. And as we see with all the content platforms, like the social media platforms, there is a big drive towards content creation. I started writing online, and at a certain point, I wondered why not go to LinkedIn. Because as I just said, there are so many decision-makers, potential people watching there waiting for that, waiting for the call to action also say." – JESSIE"One of the frameworks that I heavily use for myself and my clients is the acronym FODOFs. It stands for fear, objections, desire, obstacles, and frustrations. Of course, we don't want to always use them all in one piece of content, but by strategically using each for a specific type of content, we can show our audience or our prospect that we understand them." – JESSIE. "I hear that perspective, and I would say earlier on in my career, I also had this notion that selling is bad or self-promoting is bad. So, I had to debunk that for myself. And now I believe that if you genuinely know that you, your service, or your product is helping your audience or your clients, it's almost a disservice not to tell them about it because I know I solve a very hot topic, like lead generation on LinkedIn. And I know that I help a lot of people with that. Like if I look at my clients' results, I'm helping them get more business. I'm helping them make more money. So sure, like I'm selling to my audience, but I also know that the right people were like: "Hey, this really helps me!". And I think that's for all of us. Like if we know that because that's what entrepreneurship at its core is, right? It's like, someone has a problem, someone else has a solution, and it's either a service or a product that helps them get from A to B." – JESSIE. Connect with Jessie van Breugel:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jessievanbreugel/The Creator Academy:https://www.premiumleadsystem.com/training-hubRealigned Coaching:  https://realigned.carrd.co/ Try Our Proven, 3-Step System, Guaranteeing Accountability and Transparency that Drives RESULTS by clicking on this link: https://oneofakindsales.com/call-center-in-a-box/  Connect with Nancy Calabrese: Twitter: https://twitter.com/oneofakindsalesFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/One-Of-A-Kind-Sales-304978633264832/Website: https://oneofakindsales.comPhone: 908-879-2911 LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ncalabrese/Email: leads@oneofakindsales.com

A Message To Burnt Out Creators

I recently came across a video by Tanner Fox, a successful entrepreneur and youtuber. After 10 years of being on Youtube, he was ready to tell the truth. The endless cycle of creating, living up to others opinions and even your own standards, can often lead creators and artists to what feels like the end. You got into this to create, and now your art has become a business and it no longer feels the same. Were we meant to sustain such a grueling creative posting schedule? Was all of our work meant to be put online for everyone to see? What should a creator do when faced with the realities of burn out and exhaustion? So many famous creators have attained all that they've ever dreamed of, so why aren't they happy? As we build platforms for our art, we can often do it at the expense of our own emotional and mental health. We often fall into the trap of comparison. The rat wheel of climbing our way to the top, all the while going nowhere. For me, it was one viral video on youtube. After over one million views, it made it really easy for social media to become the most important thing in my life. I struggled with this for many seasons avoiding the fact that I was supposed to write a book. I appreciate Tanner's honesty and wish him well on his journey of creating. As you take time for you and for others, you'll realize how much joy and fulfillment can come from everyday life. As you pursue creating, leading or building an online platform, make sure that you're also building up your inner life. You want to hold your social media platform, you don't want it to hold you. You're going to have good and bad days, just focus on your next steps.

Authority Building Content
Mistakes New YouTubers Make

Authority Building Content

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 25, 2019 6:49

The first, and biggest, problem is not understanding the platform. YouTube’s goal is to keep people on YouTube. And what they deem most important isn’t subscribers; it’s how many minutes people watch videos on their platform. People also tend to try to use ads on their videos too early. It doesn’t make sense to do when you’re only getting a few views for each video. The payout isn’t that good, and you’ll be better off building goodwill with your growing audience. And, no matter how your audience uses YouTube, there is a set of best practices to get more views. We’re talking how to use titles, thumbnails, descriptions, tags, playlists, cards, endscreens, and more. The second mistake people make is they lack basic AVL knowledge.  Let’s start with the A: good audio is expected. Smartphones might have megapixel cameras, the mics leave much to be desired. And you might have the best camera, but without a decent shotgun mic or lav mic, your audio will be subpar, making you sound amateur. Next up is video! Many YouTubers are doing just fine with their high quality smartphone recordings. So can you! And like mics, quality cameras are getting cheaper. And there’s one thing you can do that will make any camera look even better… and that is - Lighting. The L in AVL. And it can be as simple as standing in front of a window and recording yourself, letting the sunlight bathe you in its free-of-charge glory. There are also some nice lighting systems. You just need to find what works for you, your budget, and your schedule.  Once you’ve got great AVL, then you need to set up your shot correctly! Make sure your background isn’t distracting, and don’t put your face in the center of the screen. Instead, you want the top of your head nearly at the top of the video frame! It looks much better! And make eye contact with the camera. It gives the viewer the sense that you’re talking with them instead of at a point over their shoulder. The third mistake is winging it. Make sure your intro is solid. I start every podcast saying exactly what the podcast does for listeners, then a short hook on what the episode is about. Next, keep it quick and clean. YouTube likes 10-minute videos. Write an outline before you record to keep yourself on track, and if you go off on a tangent, stop. Pick up at a good place and then edit the rambles out in post. Remember, low energy kills your video. Be the excited version of you (like, don’t fake it), and you’ll be more likely to hold your viewers’ attention. The final mistake is expecting instant results Unless you already have an audience, or you have a network of people who have audiences, it’s going to take a while to build one up. You can’t get impatient. If you truly love the platform and use it to its best advantage, success will happen. It’s just a matter of time, paying attention to your audience, and using the tools YouTube provides. Your action step for today is… Really simple. Watch cat videos. If you want to succeed on YouTube, you need to see how other people are doing it, and overall, getting yourself familiar with the platform. Spend an evening or three treating YouTube as your main source of entertainment, learning, or whatever. Then head on over to the Creator Academy and learn how to leverage metadata.  Do you want a little help getting your own YouTube channel set up and going? Let’s talk! There are a lot of potholes we can help you avoid - beyond what we’ve covered in this episode. Jennifer Dickerson is the crochet and knitting designer, blogger, author, and YouTuber behind Fiber Flux. I had the chance to chat with Jennifer about how she got started with video and grew her YouTube channel to over 125,000 followers in less than two years. In this interview, she shares her practical tips for working with video, building a YouTube channel, time management, working for free, and monetizing your blog and videos.  About Jennifer Dickerson Jennifer Dickerson is the crochet and knitting designer, blogger, and YouTuber behind Fiber Flux. In addition to her blog, she launched the Fiber Flux YouTube channel about two years ago and has grown to 125,626 followers as of this writing. Jennifer is the author of Mini Flower Loom Crafts and has another book forthcoming. You can also follow Jennifer on Facebook | Instagram | Pinterest | Ravelry | Twitter About the interview In this episode, I interview Jennifer about getting started with video and growing a YouTube channel, but we also chatted about other aspects of her creative business. Some of the topics we discussed about video included: Jennifer's practical tips for getting started in video. Start by recording your back catalog so you don't have deadline pressure. Use simple tools. Her recommendations are to use artificial lighting from a kit with a "natural light" bulb, a camera that has both automatic and manual options (should you decide to experiment with settings), and a tripod. She uses the YouTube Editor to edit her videos within the interface. Remember that you don't need to film in sequence. Jennifer credits Celina Lane from Simply Collectible Crochet for reminding her that she can film the process in any order and then edit later. Focus on transitions. You don't necessarily need to film an entire process, but remember to share a transition before moving on to the next step (e.g., "Continue to repeat this step until the end of the row and I'll meet you there.")  Jennifer's suggestions for growing your YouTube channel. Use the Creator Academy, YouTube's free resource for creators. Release videos on a consistent schedule so your audience returns to your channel often. Start each video quickly with a strong opening and link between videos on your channel to encourage viewer retention.  Make the opening of your channel an "event." Remember to promote the channel itself, not just embedded videos on your other online properties. Ask viewers to subscribe. Remember that your YouTube followers may be different than your audience on other platforms. We also talked about other aspects of Jennifer's business, including how Jennifer... Monetizes her blog and channel, Approaches her editorial calendar and time management, especially when working on larger projects (like a book), Decides if and when to work for free, Has become a published author, along with suggestions for other aspiring authors.  Listen to the podcast for more discussion from me and Jennifer.   If you enjoyed this episode The Creative Yarn Entrepreneur Show is no longer broadcasting.
