Blackbird PLC (AIM:BIRD, OTC:BBRDF) CEO Ian McDonough, chair Anne de Kerckhove and non-executive director Youri Hazanov joined Proactive's Stephen Gunnion to discuss the strong progress that the company has made with its flagship elevate.io platform and new and recent board appointments. Unveiling the company's interim results, McDonough highlighted the company's involvement in high-profile events like the Paris Summer Games while acknowledging a 30% drop in top-line growth due to non-renewed deals. However, he shared exciting news about renewed partnerships, including Univision and CBS, and a strong second half. In particular, the conversation focused on elevate.io, a tool designed to streamline video editing and collaboration for content creators. McDonough shared that the platform has grown from 800 to 1,800 verified users in just five days following a campaign using Google AdWords. He attributed this growth to the product's key features and its appeal to creators. De Kerckhove also shared her motivation for joining Blackbird, citing her experience in the gaming and ad-tech industries. She highlighted the importance of providing content creators with efficient tools, allowing them to focus on creating rather than technical barriers. Hazanov emphasised Elevate's potential to transform the creator economy, drawing on his experience from YouTube and Jellysmack. Sean Atkins, a TV and digital veteran who is president of Jellysmack, explains how demand for the company's talent development, marketing and content distribution services are signs that the creator economy is maturing. Today we're speaking with Jessy Grossman of WIIM, Taylar Barrington-Booker of Agency Cliquish, Ayomi Samaraweera of Canopy, and Christie Childers of Best Day Ever After spending 3.5 years working in the Creator Economy, first at TikTok as the Global Head of Internal Communications and then at Jellysmack as Chief of Staff to the President, Ayomi is now a full-time startup founder building Canopy – an anonymous-but-verified platform for creators to crowdsource information and spill the tea in a safe space. As a TikTok Creator herself she has experienced the lack of transparency in the Creator Economy and is on a mission to democratize access to information and create a level playing field for Creators. She has been featured 5x in Business Insider as both a Founder and Creator. Christie Childers is an Influencer Marketing and Brand Partnerships consultant based in New York City (and sometimes beyond) under her company entity, Best Day Ever. She plays all sides of the space managing a roster of 12 influencers, strategizing campaign activations for brands, as well as building her own fitness studio capitalizing on influencer marketing to drive foot traffic and new clientele. As an early adopter of the creator-focused vertical, Christie's expertise has evolved specifically to focus on creative directorial strategies, negotiating and upselling content usage packages and licensing deals, and using campaign performance data to draw conclusions about audience behaviors. This has extended her many opportunities to work with world-leading companies offering industry education, specifically rooted in trend-focused strategies where brands are often missing the mark in activating influencers and creators. She is a global agencies alumni, an in-progress debut author, and overall a multi-hyphenate pursuant of creative endeavors that make people feel good. Her work ethic is honest, tenacious, and detail-oriented, and her goal is to make sure clients always have the best day ever! Taylar is the Founder and Head of Talent and Partnerships at Agency Cliquish, a talent development and management agency dedicated to world-class representation for Black digital talent founded in Chicago, IL. Agency Cliquish's roster of compelling personal brands boasts a daily reach of 7.5 million across digital platforms. Under Barrington-Booker's leadership, the agency has penned contracts for influencer marketing partnerships with brands like LVMH, Givenchy, YSL, Amazon, ULTA, Lincoln, Nordstrom, Nike, L'Oreal, Fenty, Neutrogena, Netflix, and hundreds more. The strategically curated talent being managed by Agency Cliquish's team of diversely-skilled Black women can be found across global streaming platforms like Hulu, Netflix, and TEDx, and featured in national outlets including CNN, Buzzfeed, PopSugar, 21Nintey, ESSENCE, and more! Taylar is also a fierce advocate of diversity and inclusion in influencer marketing, a co-author for the published diversity charge #CreatorsforEquality, and a member of the diversity committee for Women In Influencer Marketing. A few weeks ago, Elon Musk, Twitter's new CEO, tweeted a poll asking if he should bring back Vine, the short-form video app Twitter purchased in 2012 but shuttered in 2016. Nearly 5 million votes later, 70% of people had voted to resurrect Vine. There were a number of factors that led to the app's downfall. So if Vine were to come back, what would it need to do differently? More importantly, could it compete with the reigning short-form video juggernaut that is TikTok? To help me unpack this, I interviewed Lauren Schnipper, VP of corporate development at Jellysmack and co-host of the creator economy podcast Creator Upload.
This episode of the Live Better Seller Better Podcast features Chet Lovegren, Head of Sales Development at JellySmack and Portfolio Advisor at Hatchet Ventures. Everyone wants to be great! But you have to understand that in order to be great, you should be ready to do things differently.Chet talks about identifying and learning the differences between what makes you good and what will take you to the next level. He shares a lesson on setting and achieving your goals and living the "why" behind each of them. HIGHLIGHTSBehavioral differentiators between good and great salespeopleSetting goals and how the greats treat goals differentlyHabits that attribute to greatnessFinding the why behind your goals QUOTESWhat happens when you actually dedicate time to set goals - Chet: "I think it's part of that conversation of you've got to take time to make time. Hopefully, those goals are going to give you back some time in the long-run, right?"Having habits that can set you apart - Chet: "I did something that ninety percent of people probably aren't doing which is self-educating through books or I meditated this morning which a lot of people talk about but maybe only two percent of people actually we're able to accomplish. There's something very proud about that and I think that helps drive momentum."Chet's Live Better advice: "Am I focusing on being diligent and strategic in my activity? I'm not just pressing the buttons. You've just got to detach yourself mentally from those outcomes and realize that it could get a lot worse so embrace what you have and don't justify that as the reason for failure and try to focus on more."
