Since launching in 2018, Westman Atelier has become one of the most covetable brands in luxury beauty. From the $68 foundation sticks that introduced the brand to the market to newer launches like the Lip Suede Matte Lipstick ($50) and, most recently, the Suprême C serum ($325), the brand's products are the kind that people like to show off on their vanities or pull out of their handbags. The Suprême C serum is its second skin care product — the brand will be leaning more heavily into the category in the months ahead, with plans to grow it to 10% of its business in the next year. Westman Atelier was founded by husband-and-wife Gucci Westman, the celebrity makeup artist, and David Neville, co-founder of Rag & Bone. Before founding the brand, Westman had stints as Lancôme's international artistic director and Revlon's global artistic director. She is known for her clean, you-but-better aesthetic and has worked with actors including Nicole Kidman, Anne Hathaway and Jennifer Aniston. On this week's episode of the Glossy Beauty Podcast, Westman and Neville come together to discuss the start of their careers, the brand's first true lipstick and new serum, and the reason Westman has remained the brand's most powerful marketing tool.

Gucci Westman has loved makeup since she was a little girl, seeing smiles on the faces of classmates as she gave makeovers on the bus ride to school. She pursued that passion, studying cosmetics in college and later moving to Los Angeles where she became a highly sought-after makeup artist for film and fashion magazines. She worked on projects with director Spike Jonze and has done makeup for big-name celebrities like Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Anniston and Gwyneth Paltrow to name a few. This early success earned Gucci the artistic director position with established cosmetic giants Lancôme and Revlon, eventually launching her own beauty brand, Westman Atelier, with husband David Neville, a very successful and talented fashion entrepreneur in his own right. David has garnered industry respect and multiple awards through his previous partnership running fashion brand rag & bone and lends his business expertise to the couples ambitious beauty brand which offers customers 100% all-natural products at the highest eco-friendly and ethically sourced manufacturing standards. Gucci says creating Westman Atelier would've never worked without the implicit trust and teamwork between her and David, a mutual respect that becomes obvious if you spend any amount of time with them. Today's guest is David Neville, Head of Machine Learning at Nostos Genomics in Berlin. Nostos Genomics partners with genetic testing labs to give more people with genetic diseases a fast and clear diagnosis. Over 300 million people live with a rare genetic disease and for most, the journey from the first symptoms to a diagnosis can take years. Now, new technology is allowing millions to benefit from genetic testing for diagnosis, while at the same time targeted therapies for previously untreatable disorders are being developed. However, the last step in genetic testing – interpreting mutations – remains laborious and costly. Because of limited understanding of the consequences of mutations, the test results are often inconclusive and leave 70% of people undergoing a genetic test without a diagnosis. Nostos Genomics platform leverages a unique combination of machine learning and synthetic biology to characterize mutations at scale and automate the interpretation. By offering it to labs, they enable them to diagnose more people in a fraction of the time. In the episode, David will discuss: How he got into the world of AI, Nostos Genomics impact within rare genetic diseases, Problems they are solving through leveraging AI, The importance of XAI in the Healthcare sector, and What the future holds for AI in Healthcare

Capturing the excitement of the relics of St Therese arriving in Cardiff and the Welsh greeting she is given as thousands flock to the Metropolital Cathedral from all over Wales. This is obviously 'live' and so there are many intrusive noises, but it does give an idea of the beauty of the singing of the Cathedral Choir (Choirmaster Dominic Neville)and magnificent organ playing of David Neville, so powerful at times , combined with the incense, flowers, thousands of candles, it made the senses reel! We resume the podcast with BENEDICTION and the wonderful singing of the O Salutaris , prayers and Tantum ergo. Then rosary and the Litany of the Saints, the wonderful entrance of the reliquary(you can hear the people clapping outside) and address of Archbishop Peter and Bishops Tom and Edwin and then the wonderful Mass of Evangelisation  (the choir singing Os Justi by Bruckner and Agnus Dei from Schubert Mass in G) Confession was going on most of the time as well. As Archbishop Peter said, Wales has never seen the like before as people from all over Wales came to see the relics of a little saint who never left her Carmel (convent) but prayed unceasingly for the world and for Priests and the Conversion of Wales. St David Looked down on that huge congregation too, his words 'Always remember the little things' echoing exactly the teaching of the little doctor iof the church, who had 'thrown herself into the arms of Jesus'. This is a treasure of a podcast. If you like it, download and put onto a CD to keep. Most of all, it shows that the faith is alive and well in Wales!
