Welcome to the Newbreed Christian Community Podcast, where we dive deep into God's word and experience His transformative power at work in our lives! This month, we're embracing the theme "This Gospel | The Man, The Message & The Mandate," a journey into the heart of the Gospel that shapes and empowers us as disciples of Christ.Today's message, titled "Agnus Dei," draws us into a deeper revelation of Christ—the Lamb of God—who is at the center of the Gospel, our faith, and our commission. In today's sermon, Pastor David Oghenerobor takes us on a journey through the core principles of the Gospel, unveiling how the sacrifice and victory of the Lamb is not just a part of the story, but the very heart of it. He shows us that Jesus, the Lamb of God, is both the message we proclaim and the life we are called to embody.Pastor David emphasizes that to truly live out the Gospel, we must behold the Lamb—embracing His nature of humility, sacrifice, and love—and allow His life to transform ours. A life centered on Agnus Dei is a life that reflects Christ's character, carries His message, and fulfills His mandate to reach the nations. As disciples of Christ, our lives must mirror the Lamb—laying down our ambitions for His purpose, and living in the power of His finished work. Pastor David encourages us to align our lives with the Gospel by fixing our eyes on Jesus, the Lamb who takes away the sins of the world, and stepping boldly into our assignment as His witnesses.Whether you're looking to strengthen your understanding of the Gospel, deepen your relationship with Christ, or live more intentionally as a disciple, today's sermon will challenge and inspire you to center your life around the Lamb and His Gospel—the Man, the Message, and the Mandate.Get ready, because today's sermon—Agnus Dei—will ignite a fresh fire within you to live a life fully surrendered to Christ, the Lamb of God, and to carry His message to the ends of the earth!

Not a single palm frond or “Hosanna” in this year's Palm Sunday reading. Luke's version of Jesus' procession toward and into Jerusalem instead records people throwing their coats on the ground. Rather than simply reaching for a fallen branch, instead those participating in Jesus' political street theatre give something of themselves that costs them a little something; the way Pastor Megan's spontaneously discarded cardigan resulted in a very cold experience of worship. Thank you to the child-prophets in the church who spontaneously responded by bringing their sweaters to throw into the center of our worship circle as well. We experientially learned just how potent this action was as the crowds moved with Jesus toward his confrontation with the powers of the Empire. In our current heartbreak, may we follow the footsteps of Love Incarnate--Jesus--the Human One, who goes before us in this holy and harrowing week, and who laments with us.Luke 19.29-44 ResourcesBibleWorm podcast: Episode 635 - What Makes For Peace, Amy Robertson and Robert Williamson, Jr“Kindness,” Naomi Shihab Nye, Everything Comes Next: Collected & New Poems, 222.credit to Eric Massanari, Executive Conference Minister of Pacific Northwest Mennonite Conference, and Amy Epp, Pastor of Evergreen Mennonite Church, for some of their words taken from letters written to their respective communities.More info about Mennonite Action can be found here: https://www.mennoniteaction.org/ Learn more and get involved with La Resistencia here: https://laresistencianw.org/ Lament hymn: Ya hamala Allah, sung in Arabic (trans: O Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Today in the Catholic Mass Series, we finish our discussion of Sacred Music in the Liturgy. There has long been tension between the creative and innovative developments of music with the need to regulate what is appropriate and fitting for use during the Holy Sacrifice. Does this mean that we need to only use music that has been composed centuries ago? What about some of the hymns that we have grown up with – are they appropriate? To answer these and other questions, we discuss what type of music is and is not proper during Mass. Today in the Catholic Mass Series, we begin a new section examining the externals that surround the Mass, like vestments, the church building, and starting today, sacred music. From antiquity, music has been a part of worship. In fact, even false religions recognize the importance of music in their respective devotions and rites. Today in the first of two episodes on music and the Mass, we explore the history of music in sacred worship, starting with Jewish ceremonies and the Psalms, leading up to the present day. We also start to examine the various kinds of music in a sung Mass. In this segment from the Son Rise Morning Show on Sacred Heart Radio, Fr. Frank Donio, S.A.C. discusses begins a new series connecting Advent to the Eucharist and focuses on Christ as the Lamb of God in the Eucharist.Fr. Frank makes the connection to what the priest says when showing the Eucharist: “Behold the Lamb of God”, the Sacrifice of the Christ the Lamb of God for us, and the Mass as a re-presentation of the sacrifice of Christ on the Cross, dying for our sins.Christmas is the "most wonderful time of the year”: trees are trimmed, presents wrapped, and the chilly air signals the coming season of festive warmth. But did you know we're not really ready for Christmas without first observing a "little Lent?" Advent is one of the highlights of our liturgical year. Every year, at the end of the summer, I begin to yearn for colder days. Then autumn rolls around with the beautiful changing leaves, pumpkin pies, and the days seem to go by quicker and quicker (no thanks to Daylight Saving Time!). Then, just after Thanksgiving, we run right into Advent. Each year, it feels like we are sprinting to get to the holiday season and run right through Christmas and New Years. This year, though, I want to be more intentional about celebrating the joy of Advent and run an Advent Marathon, instead of my usual sprint.Notes:Read about St. John the Baptist hereLearn more about Advent hereView Eucharistic Revival ResourcesRead Ad Infinitum blog posts on Advent Follow us:The Catholic Apostolate CenterThe Center's podcast websiteInstagramFacebookApple PodcastsSpotify Fr. Liz shares a recent encounter where the Lord showed her there is nothing mundane in our lives when lived as worship to the King. She was taken by surprise as this encounter happened while listening to a classical rendition of Agnus Dei by Leopold Mozart. When asking the Lord what was happening and what it was about this song, Holy Spirit told her He loves the song of the heart! When we live with the intention of loving Him, bringing Him joy, everything becomes an encounter with Him. Whether it's washing the dishes, caring for someone, cutting the grass, it is all worship when done with your heart towards Him. This is the stewardship of His Presence and in return, it brings us such joy to live with this awareness! It blesses His heart but it also blesses ours! Step into this invitation to live this way today.Related Materials:Join the International Mentoring Community IMC, to facilitate a safe environment where like-minded people at any stage of their walk can enter into a deeper experience of Jesus. Thank you so much Danielle, for your time, insight, expertise, and generosity in today's episode. We join you in your commitment to increase knowledge about rape and sexual violation and provide language so people can name sexual violation for what it is.This is the link to Danielle's website which has a link to her book, “Speaking About Rape: The Limits of Language in Sexual Violations.”https://www.danielletumminiohansen.com/Listed below are the quotes from Danielle's book which were read and discussed in this episode:"What does it take to keep a person from naming her own sexual violation for what it is?" "I recall a session with my own therapist where I was going to tell her about what had happened to me, but when it came time for me to actually explain, I found that I didn't have words to do it. I verbally froze, unable to speak, unable to say words like "rape" or "sexual assault" or even to offer a description of what had occurred. What I could do, though, was turn to music, the vocabulary of my childhood. I took out a compact disc player and turned on Samuel Barber's Agnus Dei, a devastating choral composition that begins as quietly as it is possible for singers to perform - pianissimo - and then escalates in tone and tension into a kind of collective vocal suffering. And what a singer seems to communicate in the performance of it is the same thing I was feeling: a profound sense of aloneness, of hopelessness, of fear. It said what I needed to say better than any narrative could have. My therapist seemed to understand, and after that, I found that I was able to talk about my experiences a little more freely.""If you don't see yourself included in the language, then what is there to say? Because those who survived harm live within linguistic discourses, they may also self-gaslight, becoming unable to categorize harm that they might have named had they been exposed to different epistemic constructions of it, by which I mean that they might have thought differently about their own experiences if they had been exposed to different ways of constructing the knowledge related to it.""Victimized individuals may, therefore, first imagine themselves as co-writers or, at least, ghost writers who had at least some agency or subjectivity in the encounter to maintain a sense of control or a sense of protection, or because they genuinely believe that's the most accurate representation of the event. Put more colloquially, they are prone to blame themselves. And while psychologists often label this as denial, I'm not sure it's always as simple as that - sometimes people are wrestling with the significance of events using competing ways of knowing (or epistemologies), which resolves into cognitive dissonance and the feeling that one is assembling a puzzle, the but the events that make up the pieces do not fit together to create a coherent picture. That's not denial. That's turmoil."

Donald Macleod explores the life and music of Charles Villiers Stanford. With Jeremy DibbleMarking the centenary of his death, Composer of the Week explores the remarkable life and music of Sir Charles Villiers Stanford. Stanford was one of the leading musicians of his generation and, along with Parry and Mackenzie, he was one of the main protagonists in Britain's musical renaissance at the end of the 19th century. Born in Dublin, Stanford rose to the very top of the British music scene, as both a conductor and composer. He also maintained strong links to Germany, following his studies in Leipzig and Berlin. Stanford's works were popular in Europe, as well as Britain, with conductors such as Hans Richter promoting his music. Today, Stanford is largely remembered for his sacred works, however his prolific output covers most genres and he had a particular passion for opera. He was an influential teacher at the Royal College of Music and Cambridge University; many future musical luminaries passed through his classes, including Gustav Holst, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Rebecca Clarke and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor. Stanford was a tremendous force for good in British music, and in honour of his contribution to British culture, his ashes are interred in Westminster Abbey close to the remains of Henry Purcell. This week, Donald Macleod is joined by Stanford biographer, Jeremy Dibble to explore Stanford life and music.Music Featured:The Bluebird, Op 119 No 3 (excerpt) Three Intermezzi, Op 13 No 1 (Allegretto scherzando) The Resurrection, Op 5 Symphony No 1 (Scherzo) The Veiled Prophet (Act 2 Love Duet) Service in B flat major, Op 10 (Magnificat) Symphony No 2 ‘Elegiac' (Lento espressivo) To the Rose, Op 19 No 3 Piano Trio No 1, Op 35 (Allegretto con moto) Elegiac Ode, Op 21 (The night, in silence, under many a star) The Lord is my Shepherd Symphony No 3, Op 28 “Irish” (Allegro molto Vivace) Piano Quintet in D minor, Op 25 (Allegro risoluto) A Child's Garland of Songs, Op 30 No 9 (My ship and me) The Clown's Song from Twelfth Night', Op 65 No 3 Six Irish Fantasies, Op 54 No 3 (Jig) Symphony No 5, Op 56 ‘L'Allegro ed il Pensieroso' (Andante molto tranquillo) Shamus O'Brien, Op 61 (Act 2 Captain Trevor's Song) Requiem, Op 63 (Agnus Dei et Lux aeterna) Te Deum, Op 66 (Judex crederis) Ten Dances, Old and New, Op 58 No 1 (Valse) Songs of the Sea, Op 91 No 3 (Devon, O Devon, in wind and rain) Magnificat in G, Op 81 String Quartet No 4 in G minor, Op 99 (Allegro molto vivace) Stabat Mater, Op 96 (Virgo virginum praeclara) String Quintet No 2 in C minor, Op 86 (Andante) A Song of Hope, Op 113 No 3 Six Songs from ‘The Glens of Antrim', Op 174 No 2 (The sailor man) String Quartet No 7 in C minor, Op 166 (Allegro molto) Irish Rhapsody No 4, Op 141 (The Fisherman of Loch Neagh and What he Saw) An Irish Idyll in Six Miniatures, Op 77 No 2 (The Fairy Lough) Mass Via Victrix, Op 173 (Agnus Dei) How beauteous are their feetPresented by Donald Macleod Produced by Luke Whitlock for BBC Audio Wales and WestFor full track listings, including artist and recording details, and to listen to the pieces featured in full (for 30 days after broadcast) head to the series page for Charles Villiers Stanford (1852-1924) https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001xdr0And you can delve into the A-Z of all the composers we've featured on Composer of the Week here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/3cjHdZlXwL7W41XGB77X3S0/composers-a-to-z

Fr. Elias Mary Mills, F.I. served as Rector of the Shrine Church at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Lacrosse, Wisconsin from 2016 to 2021. He was ordained in May of 2000.     In Today's Show  I work as a nurse for a Catholic nursing facility. One of my patients is a Catholic who receives daily Communion. In her room, however, there is a picture of one of her daughters, and this particular photo shows the daughter walking and holding hands with another lady on a beach. Do I have an obligation to report this photo to my superiors at the Catholic nursing facility? Why do we not have saint days for people from the Old Testament? Should Bishops ban politicians who, for instance, push radical abortion policies, from receiving Communion? I have a friend who says he is bi-sexual. I've tried to convince him otherwise but am having trouble. He also thinks Sodom and Gomorrah shouldn't have been destroyed. What can I do to convince him? I have Parkinson's disease and I wanted to know if it is proper to have my Protestant friends pray and lay hands over me? My priest gave me my penance while I was saying my act of contrition and I didn't quite hear him. I'm going to Confession again, but can I receive Communion in the meantime? What books did the Protestants take out of the Bible? I'm considering a vocation to the priesthood! I'm Franciscan in spirit. Could I say the Novus Ordo (ad-orientem) and TLM in a parish setting? What challenges are there to doing this? What books would Father recommend for lukewarm Catholics? What is the state of a Mass when the Agnus Dei is not said/prayed? Why is it that when I hear some people pray the Rosary, right before the first mystery, they omit the Fatima prayer? Is there a reason one way or the other? Should I be afraid of generational curses? Is there a rule of standing for all readings and the Gospel? As a relatively new Catholic (ex-Protestant), can you recommend books of the teachings and traditions of church fathers?   Visit the show page at thestationofthecross.com/askapriest to listen live, check out the weekly lineup, listen to podcasts of past episodes, watch live video, find show resources, sign up for our mailing list of upcoming shows, and submit your question for Father!
