Josefa ha deciso di diventare analista politica perché le piace fare analisi politiche e ha imparato a leggere attraverso i giornali, poiché nel suo paese durante la guerra non c'erano librerie. Nell'intervista è emerso che che la politica e l'economia sono strettamente legate tra loro e non possono esistere l'una senza l'altra. La persona che fa analisi politiche deve anche avere una comprensione delle politiche economiche per aiutare le aziende a investire in mercati esteri. Josefa, che si occupa di rapporti tra Italia e Angola, sottolinea l'importanza di conoscere le politiche imprenditoriali e gli incentivi dei due Paesi per fornire una consulenza precisa e completa nel settore agroalimentare, in particolare nel settore Horeca (hotellerie, ristorazione e catering).Susanna Owusu, Diaspora e Migration Consultant, non partecipa spesso a eventi in cui si parla solo di donne o si parla solo di femminismo, perché lei si occupa di corpi neri, corpi razionalizzati, corpi in generale e spesso poco alla dimensione di genere. Per lei essere donna significa avere delle peculiarità, ma allo stesso tempo vivere delle discriminazioni significa vivere la propria femminilità dettata dalla propria libertà. Susanna è nata e cresciuta in Italia e ha origini ghanesi, e nota che la differenza c'è sempre nei diversi Paesi di come le donne vengono percepite e nel loro ruolo nella società. VIA's DiveIn platform covers the most pressing topics in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, and this summer, we're proud to partner with Boomerang Agency to ignite an industry-wide movement for Neurodiversity. An estimated 15% of the population is Neurodivergent - a term covering Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Tourette's syndrome, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, Dyspraxia and more (and this is most likely a low-ball figure). Neurodiversity is a part of our genetics and evolution as a species – it's part of what makes us so special. But, according to psychologist Dr. Devon MacEachron, under the current medical model, neurological differences are considered to be dysfunctional, disorders or disabilities. And this is reflected in under-representation of neurodivergents in the workplace. In this campaign, we reframe neurodivergent attributes as strengths, such that this community can thrive in whatever context – not the least of which is the workplace. In 2014, she starred in a groundbreaking campaign with Diesel. The ad shows Jillian in her element — gorgeous, unapologetically herself and showing her disability for everyone to see and embrace. In the 80s, Farhoud grew up as a young Persian kid in Los Angeles. He’s always loved films, but says the general representation of his culture impacted the way he told stories. “R U There?” These three words from an anonymous texter catapulted Nancy Lublin into a bold mission: Create rapid-response counseling for people in crisis. In 2013, she launched Crisis Text Line, a nonprofit organization that provides free 24/7 crisis support via text messaging. Research has shown that globally, 1 in 4 people will struggle with mental illness at some point in their lives. And according to the World Health Organization, nearly two-thirds of those with known mental disorder never seek help from a health professional — even if treatment is available. This week, we’re sharing the story of Nancy Lublin, Founder and CEO of Crisis Text Line. Nancy is a tenacious problem-solver. She created Dress For Success, an organization that provides professional outfits, resources and training to women in need. She also previously led DoSomething.org as CEO, turning the failing nonprofit around into one of the largest organizations for young people in social activism and change. We’re also hearing from Bob Filbin, Co Founder and Chief Data Scientist at Crisis Text Line, in this episode. When Asha Curran first heard of the idea for GivingTuesday from her colleague Henry Timms, she did not foresee how one day of giving could turn into a global movement. She was then working at 92nd Street Y, a nonprofit community and cultural center located in Manhattan, New York. Throughout her career, Asha helped push what’s possible: How do you innovate for nonprofits? What does community mean in an age where there are no boundaries? In this episode, we’re sharing the story of social good innovator and CEO of GivingTuesday, Asha Curran. Before taking GivingTuesday into the next stage of evolution, Asha helped propel successful programs at 92nd Street Y such as the Social Good Summit, an annual event for tech and global development leaders, in partnership with the UN Foundation and Mashable. This week, we'll be revisiting my conversations with Andreas Freund, co-founder of DiveIn, a platform where people can easily get involved with causes they care about at the local level. As a proud son of immigrants and a San Francisco native, Andreas was inspired to create DiveIn after witnessing the effects of the refugee crisis in Germany in 2015. In an era where we have so much at our fingertips, Andreas realized it was unacceptable that we can wake up with the desire to help in our own communities, but not be able to use technology to make that process seamless and frictionless. DiveIn helps its users connect on two levels: location, and causes. Whether your passion is the environment, animal welfare, or social justice, DiveIn allows you to access relevant content and discussions, and find opportunities to get involved in those causes with like-minded people at the local level. So what does “getting involved” look like? “The types of experiences themselves can be really diverse. If you’re going to go out and get a beer after work, why not go to a place where there’s someone speaking? Or where the proceeds will go to a good cause? Getting involved can be putting on a pair of gloves and getting your hands dirty doing volunteer work, but it can also mean going to a screening and exposing yourself to new ideas.” Andreas acknowledges that his status as a millennial played a significant role in the formation of DiveIn — and how it will make money. “Millennials may have grown up on the internet, but that doesn’t mean we want to spend all of our time on it. We love experiences. We want to get out there and be active in our communities, but the barriers to access need to be lowered.” As part of a recent wave of social entrepreneurship, Andreas wanted to ensure that DiveIn’s revenue model didn’t undermine their core values. Currently, they operate with a “pay by participant” model, where event hosts are charged a fixed fee for ever new person they activate at the local level. As a Latino man who grew up attending protests with his grandparents, Andreas has made diversity a strong priority for DiveIn. “It’s important that our team reflects the communities we serve. Diversity matters, not just because it’s the right thing to do, but because it makes business sense. More diverse companies generate more revenue, so the moral element is really backed up by the numbers.” Moving forwards, Andreas is committed to doing the work to push back against internal biases as the team grows. Over the next few years, Andreas aims to expand DiveIn at the national level by establishing a presence in the top 5 metro areas of the US (Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas/Fort Worth, and New York City).
