We now have 140 podcast episodes under our belt and a lot has changed in those five years, including the way that we communicate and work with others, as well as how we promote our respective brands and provide services to our clients and our followers. If anything, the last five years has made us work harder at finding new ways be better at our craft, and search for good examples of who we can learn from to further develop our knowledge and skillsets. Time has flown by over the last five years, but we are always taking the time to acknowledge what we have learned, who has been an influence and where we need to improve moving forward. You can find out more information on Don Saladino's online course via the following links:Website: https://donsaladino.samcart.com/products/5-steps-to-monetize-an-online-business/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/donsaladino/The D&D Fitness Radio podcast is available at the following locations for downloadable audio, including: iTunes – https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/d-d-fitness-radio-podcast/id1331724217iHeart Radio – https://www.iheart.com/podcast/dd-fitness-radio-28797988/Spreaker.com – https://www.spreaker.com/show/d-and-d-fitness-radios-showSpotify – https://open.spotify.com/show/5Py2SSPA4mntNwYRm0OpriYou can reach both Don and Derek at the following locations: Don Saladino: http://www.DonSaladino.com Twitter and Instagram - @DonSaladino YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/donsaladino Derek M. In Episode 096, we are honoured to enjoy the company of Bill Crudup. Billy has been a long-time member of Drive495 in New York City and has shared more than a few intense and gruelling workouts under the close scrutiny of Don. We begin by speaking to Billy about his role as world class runner and legend, Steve Prefontaine, in the 1998 film, Without Limits. He outlines the training and preparation for the film and how they pieced together the numerous races required for depicting Prefontaine’s thrilling competitions. We then transition into Billy’s preparation for Almost Famous, where he played a skilled lead guitarist for an up and coming seventies rock band. Once again, Billy had to learn from some of the best in the world to create the illusion of guitar brilliance, piecing together memorable scenes for the movie. We quickly learn that Billy is a master in the art of taking brief moments in time and portraying himself as a world class performer throughout movies and television episodes. We even get to witness more of his acting and singing brilliance in the first season of The Morning Show, and anxiously await Season 2. And, all the while he still finds the time to fit his workouts into his busy schedule.Billy Crudup is an American film, theatre and television actor who is known for such films as Without Limits, Almost Famous, Big Fish, The Stanford Prison Experiment, Spotlight and Alien Covenant. Listen To Episode 225 As Don Saladino Uncovers: Why women are resisting from doing weight training when they don't have to be. Why he was so drawn in the world of strength training and bodybuilding. How his background and negative childhood experiences shaped who he is today. The contrast between fitness and wellness and how they're changing in the current industry. Why Planet Fitness wouldn't allow one of his clients to have a membership based on her weight. Why people are so hesitant to join a gym and start weight training. How he's helped people completely transform their lives by creating healthy habits rather than looking for that quick fix. The wrong advice that people are giving to their clients or on social media. Why it's better to work one-on-one with a personal coach rather than a social media influencer. The biggest No-Nos to be aware of and avoid in a personal trainer. Why resistance training, not cardio, should be the foundation of your fitness plan for losing weight and living a healthy lifestyle. The importance of mixing up workouts for both a physical and mental beneficial standpoint. Why some of your favorite workouts might not be good for you but specific training can help you become the strongest version of yourself. How to integrate strength training into a holistic lifestyle based on self-love. The importance of having a mindset for longevity rather than just losing weight. Train to failure: should you be doing it doing your workouts? Why he starts clients off with belly breathing and how much they focus on doing before working out. His own spiritual practice of thinking how he could be a better person. How his focus on physical intelligence has changed from when he was 20 to now at 40. Power Quotes From The Show "Getting fit isn't as hard as you think; you just took an incorrect approach because someone probably steered you in the wrong direction." - @DonSaladino on @WellnessForce Radio episode 225 http://bit.ly/wfpodcast "You don't have to be a gym killing yourself in the gym. You don't have to have this Biggest Loser approach to fitness or be vomiting after each workout. Being healthy is just about making better choices, moving in an intelligent way, and if people took that approach, they'd be able to reach their health and fitness goals a lot quicker and easier than they ever imagined. As I'm getting older, I'm finding that I may even need less and just do two-three movements each day. It's shocking how a little can go a long way." - Don Saladino "People find going to the gym very intimidating. When someone's not used to being in the fitness environment, they immediately feel insecure but the truth is, no one cares how you look. I don't care what type of shape you're in or what you look like. If you're at the gym and you're a good, quality human being who's putting an effort in, I have great respect for you. If you still feel insecure about the gym, just go in there for 10 minutes and do something really simple like a 3-movement circuit or run around the track to build confidence." - Don Saladino "Training a celebrity really isn't any different; they have families, work, and time constraints too. The only difference is that sometimes we have a definitive goal that has to be reached in 3 months. What people need is consistency. Some days you can go in there with just a 40-60% effort and it's all good because it's better than not doing anything for weeks. Plus that day off from the gym might be exactly what you need sometimes." - Don Saladino Links From Today's Show Don Saladino Facebook Twitter Instagram YouTube LinkedIn Drive495 Health Clubs Facebook Twitter Instagram Playbook App Don Saladino Blog Super Trainer: Meet The Man Behind Some of Hollywood's Fittest Action Heroes Don's No-Hangover Playbook Don Saladino On Training Celebrities, Running A Gym, And Getting Cover-Ready In 30 Days Don Saladino'S 7-Week Plan To Get Shredded From Head To Toe Robert Irvine - Interview With Celebrity Trainer Don Saladino TrueForm Runner Treadmills Charlie Weingroff Kyle Balzer TMHS 280: Exercise Secrets & Building Superhero Bodies – With Celebrity Trainer Don Saladino WFR 203 Brian Mackenzie About Don Saladino Don Saladino is one of the most in-demand and respected trainers in the business. Here are 3 tips that will help you be Good at Bizness! Know your customer: Write down the attributes of your current customers. Include the positives and negatives of working with this population or demographic. Do you like working with these people? Or did these people just migrate toward your business because of the community or marketing you have curated over the past few month or years. Like the bacteria in your gut. The more you eat junk food the more you will crave junk food and the cycle continues. The same occurs with bad clients. The more whining, unmotivated and negative people you have in the gym, the more of these types of people will flock to your doorstep. My good friend Don Saladino shared with us on this podcast that when he opened Drive495 he gave a modelling agency across the street full access to the gym. Guess what kind of client came his way? He is now known through Hollywood as the man that gets movie stars shredded! Know your dream customer: Write down the attributes for a perfect student or client. The more detail you can put into this customer avatar the better. I also encourage you to search those attributes in google images and try and find a picture that you can identify with for that attribute. Write down a plan to get your dream customer: “I will lay small bits of cheese from Sax 5th Ave all the way to the front door of my gym and…” Stop! Just stop right there. The dream client gives you the type of client you would like to work with but it is a business after all and you want to fill it with quality paying customers. They all won’t look like Ryan Reynolds and Jessica Alba. But if you like young and energetic people I would market through their social media, go to their hangouts and promote events that resonate with their generation. If I wanted more old, overweight, simpletons I might hang out at…. (Insert your favourite rival sporting team)! These are the steps that most people skip when creating programs, products or services. They just think that if they build it they will come. This is not true. You need to cultivate it and nurture your community and they will grow with you.
