(Midterms are this week, so the message still stands–go vote, if you're able.) So, respectfully, please check out the episode. This One hopes you enjoy it!

Welcome to the first proper episode of Shep It: A Mass Effect First-Timers Podcast. Join Jonathon Dornbush, Belinda Garcia, and Jordan Mychal Lemos as they begin making their way through the Mass Effect trilogy, each for the first time. The trio will be cataloging their adventures aboard the Normandy and throughout the galaxy, recounting their Paragon or Renegade decisions, debating which aliens to smooch, and much more. On the first episode, Jonathon, Belinda, and Jordan go over character creation and explain their approach to creating each of their individual Shepards. Did they go Male or FemShep? What class did they choose? What background have they given their intrepid space commander, and do they now regret it because they'll never hear the end of what happened on Akuze? Find out all that and more as the trio explains their character creation process. Plus, we cover the Eden Prime prologue, including its introductions to combat, squad members, and the overarching story of the Mass Effect series. Has it hooked us from the start, or did the first impression not quite land? Listen to find out! Characters. It's the first episode of RP_OK! Chris, Ben, and Zack are here to discuss all manner of storytelling games, from video games to tabletop games to interactive media and everything in between. Today, we explain a bit about the podcast's purpose, then discuss some of our favorite characters. Along the way, we make fun of Ben's Steam shame list, go straight into denial about our imaginary listeners, heap praise upon BioWare, and possibly accidentally mention butts. At least once. This was actually the second episode we recorded - the 'test episode' referenced in this week's episode will be up in a few days! It's time for another Codec Call, and this one features a very special guest joining us to talk about the role of the voice actor within the games industry, and how it is changing with advances and demands of technology. Our guest this week is one of the most prolific voice actors working today, with credits on animated series including The Powerpuff Girls, Ben 10, Johnny Quest and Johnny Bravo, The Tick, The X-Men, Phineas and Ferb and Tamagotchi Video Adventures (if IMDB is to be believed); along with credits in games including Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Doom 3, SOCOM, Bulletstorm, Uncharted 3, Bioshock Infinite and The Last of Us to name a handful. Even if you don't know her by name, you'll know her by game as the voice of both Naomi Hunter in the Metal Gear Solid franchise and Commander Shepard from the Mass Effect series. It's the supremely talented Jennifer Hale! In this interview we cover: Jennifer's acting history and her career to date. The amount of audio recording needed for some games, like Metal Gear Solid. Mass Effect: the freedom of relationships and how much the actors know at the recording stage, “Femshep”, and the controversial ending of the third installment. The process of voice recording for games and animation. Singing! What the fans are like and how they differ between videogames and the animated series. The skew of male protagonists in games and the effect on available work. ‘Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego?' Character preparation across film, animation and videogames, as well as actor input to the dialogue. Motion capture. Hollywood actors appearing in videogames, and replacing actors in established franchises. And a whole lot more! Enjoy! If you'd like to comment on the Codec Call then add something below or tweet us @CodecMoments. Alternatively, find us on Facebook and Google+. And don't forget to review or rate it on iTunes, Stitcher or TuneIn!
This week Shannon, Sean and Stargate Pioneer venture into the lands of the Trion Defiance Video game and its recent 1.4 update. The trio discuss issues caused by updating, how stable the gaming platform is currently, how they all seem to suck at playing (but yet Sean has no problem finishing the main story), and how in-game interactions have changed. Sean and Stargate Pioneer marvel at Shannon’s ability to take on multiple gangs simultaneously in real life yet how she runs and hides from Hellbugs. Sean pontificates on how Defiance ranks both as an MMO and as a scifi story game. Stargate Pioneer requests help in figuring out what the best chat headset for an Xbox 360 is. Sean and Stargate Pioneer take a moment to point out which Voices Of Defiance podcast host is truly infatuated with the darling Jaime Murray. All three hosts thank a few listeners for the wonderful feedback they have received so far. Stargate Pioneer and Shannon relay their bee killing techniques in real life. Sean gushes about Mass Effect including how Shannon could recognize FemShep at a convention without ever having played the game herself. Sean also informs us that the best weapon in the Defiance game is a Pump Action Fire Loaded Shotgun. And finally Stargate Pioneer fills us in on the homewords of the Votans. But wait….there’s more! Come for the cast, stay for the extras! After the main credits Sean, Shannon and Stargate Pioneer discuss the state of SyFy, Sean and Stargate Pioneer attempt to explain Pi Day (March 14th) to Shannon, Sean fanboys out over Mass Effect even more, and several other brief extras.
