We're just days out from the US presidential elections. With many polls putting Trump and Harris within just a few points of each other, it's easy to get caught up in the fear and uncertainty of the race as we continue to see horror after horror unfolding in Gaza and Lebanon as well as critical domestic crises like housing and infrastructure going unaddressed.On this show, we're focusing on the work of activists looking past the mainstream. They've been in the streets, they've pushed local resolutions, called for ceasefires and weapons embargoes, they've voted Uncommitted and called to abandon Biden and Harris and any candidate who won't speak out against genocide. We talk with some organizers who have been building peoples' movements for power and solidarity about how they view the elections, what they've been doing in the lead-up, and most importantly, we'll hear what they'll be doing on November 6 after all the ballots have been counted. We're joined by Dr. Hassan Abdel Salam - co-founder of Abandon Biden, which is now Abandon Harris.Later in the show, we discuss the No Votes for Genocide campaign with Francesca Maria, an organizer with the CT Palestine Solidarity Coalition and co-chair of Connecticut DSA.Support the show

Francesca Maria has been penning horror stories since she was able to pick up a pen and write at the age of six. Francesca Maria has been penning horror stories since she was able to pick up a pen and write at the age of six. This fascination with horror was spurred by her insatiable quest to uncover what was haunting her house as a child. Now in her late forties, Francesca is still haunted by her childhood home which continues to invade her dreams. Francesca has spent 19 years as the co-owner of Black Cat Comics in Northern California and has been reading comics for over two decades. She is an avid fan of Neil Gaiman, Tom King, Stephen King, Tom Taylor, Geoff Johns, and Jeph Loeb. When she's not reading and writing horror, Francesca visits haunted places and records their histories. Francesca is a former journalist, a published author, and a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley. Francesca is also a psychic medium and detective and uses her knowledge of the other world to aid in her storytelling. When I was a kid, my two cousin who were about 10 years older than I would always have parties in the basement like most people in Chicago. During this time, (the 70's) most albums would come with posters especially The Ohio Players and Parliament Funkadelic. My cousins always had them hung on the walls along with Black Light posters. You know the ones with neon colors and velvet. Everybody had the one with the zodiac signs & sexual positions. It would get pretty dark in the basement so they would screw in black, red and blue lights. I have very fond memories of those days. Although these were pre-house days, this where my love for dance music began. My cousins would play mostly Soul, R & B and Fun with some soulful disco (like Donna Summers) thrown in. I still can smell the incense (and weed lol) and see the flashing strobe lights. I can still see the Black light posters in the foggy basement and all the hands up in the air. I thanks my cousins for letting there little cuz hang out with them. Those times were magical! That was one of the few places my father would let me go anyway lol. Many years have past since those days and I making magic in my own basement now. Although the music from that time is classic and remains in my collection, I constantly searching for new music and pushing the boundaries of what I do. It is rumored the the term “deep house” was coined because you had to reach deep into you record crates to come up with those tunes. So This week I went ingot he basement and reached deep into my virtual music crate to come up with the playlist and subsequent mix set. I hope you dig it! peace and love Family! 1.
