Craig Collins remains in for Greg Corombos, and he and Jim wrap up the week by looking at the lighter side of the likely national repercussions if, as expected, Zohran Mamdani is elected as mayor of New York City, examine an unjustifiable pardon from President Trump, and close out by questioning the choices of an allegedly “woke” update to the musical Damn Yankees. First, Craig and Jim start off with the inverse of yesterday's bad Martini, looking at polling numbers that indicate Mamdani is exceptionally unpopular outside of New York City, even among independents and Democrats. “The results are grim for Mamdani. Among self-identified Democrats and Independents alike and among voters at large, his numbers are actually considerably worse than those of Newsom, Ocasio-Cortez, and Harris.” And let's face it, it's not easy to be less popular than Kamala Harris these days. Next, President Trump has made an unpardonable pardon of Changpeng Zhao, the convicted founder of the crypto exchange Binance,. There aren't a lot of large financial institutions that are willing to do work with al-Qaeda, ISIS, Hamas, ransomware hackers, and kiddie-porn enthusiasts, all simultaneously; these are the kinds of guys who usually end up portrayed as the villains in Jason Statham movies. Finally, in more discussion of musical theater than you ever expected on this podcast, Craig and Jim examine a new revival of the musical Damn Yankees that adds a new racial component to the story, making the main character, Joe Boyd, take the deal because of memories of his father, “a minor league baseball player who was kept out of the major leagues because he was black.” Jim notes this undermines the musical's original theme that our family and loved ones are more important than the temptations fame and fortune, while Craig observes that the devilish seductive harlot being played by a white actress now adds an uncomfortable implication to Boyd's temptation. Craig Collins remains in for Greg Corombos, and he notices a big mafia story arrives, just in time to honor his Italian heritage. Craig and Jim applaud some new Trump administration decisions on Ukraine, lament the fact that Zohran Mamdani looks like a shoo in to be the next mayor of New York City, and marvel at a big sports gambling scandal that led to the arrest of an NBA player and coach. First, Craig and Jim note that while it's been a long time coming, the Trump administration is hitting Russian oil giants Rosneft and Lukoil with new sanctions, cutting off the Russian firms from American banking systems and financial institutions, essentially barring them from operating in U.S. dollars. Trump is finally getting wise to the fact that all of his seemingly good conversations with Vladimir Putin never seem to results in Putin's policies. Next, President Trump doesn't see any way that anyone can beat Zohran Mamdani in the New York City mayor's race, and there's not a lot of evidence to counter the president's conclusion. In a year where a lot has gone right for the GOP, a major frustration is that no argument about Mamdani's extremism on everything from economics to policing to geopolitics has seemed to get traction. Finally, the Portland Trail Blazers face a tough lineup of opponents this year – the Warriors, the Lakers, and the FBI. The Bureau announced that it had arrested Blazers coach Chauncey Billups and Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier as part of a pair of wide-ranging investigations related to illegal sports betting and rigged poker games backed by the Mafia. Jim and Craig acknowledge that while sports gambling is wildly popular, particularly among young men, the temptations and dangers of widespread legal sports gambling were predictable.Get 20% off your first purchase of classic menswear. Here are your martinis of the day!GOOD: There are much bigger factors in the outcome of a midterm election cycle beyond fundraising, but... this is a pretty big advantage for the GOP.The Republican National Committee heads into the year before the midterm election with a significantly bigger bank balance than the Democratic National Committee, a reflection of the GOP's dominance in Washington and the minority party's ongoing struggles. The gap is a warning sign for Democrats as some of their donors remain skeptical of the party's direction and of whether there is a viable plan to win again. At one point earlier this year, the DNC reached out to big donors to host a San Francisco-area fundraiser headlined by former Vice President Kamala Harris. Most of the donors rejected the request, according to several people familiar with the conversations.Upon receiving the invitation, one replied with a profanity-laced rejection. Others said they didn't want to give to the party until it produced substantive plans to win elections. Those who declined told the national party they had commitments and couldn't make it work. The DNC ultimately found a donor who hosted the event, but it raised less than organizers had hoped. The latest fundraising totals released this week show the Democrats' weakness. The RNC had receipts of $10.7 million in the most recent month and $86 million in cash reserves as it started October, compared with $10.3 million and about $12 million for the DNC, respectively.BAD: No, the president of the United States cannot order the U.S. Department of Justice to compensate him $230 million for past court cases that were dismissed.CRAZY/HILARIOUS: Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner says he accidentally got a Nazi tattoo. Chad Benson is in for Greg Corombos today; Chad and Jim note that the Biden and his campaign insist that all of the polls are wrong, and that's he actually ahead of Trump. Feeling good, Democrats? Meanwhile, an unnerving observation is that if Democrats keep control of the Senate after this year's elections, there won't be a Joe Manchin or a Kyrsten Sinema around to constrain them. Meanwhile, Jen Psaki's new autobiography includes an error so glaring that even Kristi Noem exclaimed, "Wow, you need to hire a proofreader."

It's another good, bad, and crazy day, as Chad Benson sits in for Greg Corombos again. Chad and Jim Geraghty find it hilarious that the city of San Francisco concluded that after six years, their boycott of red states has had no impact whatsoever on those states, has significantly increased costs and red tape for the city, and repealed the boycott. Meanwhile, it's good that an ISIS mastermind who killed Americans during the withdrawal from Afghanistan was killed, but Chad and Jim wonder how the Taliban found that terrorist before the U.S. did. Finally, the White House is formulating an official strategy to rebuild Kamala Harris' image, which is a crazy thing for an 80-year-old president to have on his to-do list as he's trying to convince America for four more years. Please visit our great sponsors:4Patriothttps://4Patriots.comUse code MARTINI to get 10% off your purchase.

Chad Benson is in for Greg Corombos today.GOOD: Montana Democratic senator Jon Tester might not run, which would give the GOP a nice headstart in the 2024 Senate races.BAD: Good riddance, Dianne Feinstein; while I could see the argument this is good, it's been an open secret that she's senile for years and she just stayed in office. Ideally this would spur a serious discussion of what to do when a lawmaker is too old to perform her duties but refuses to resign.CRAZY: Wait, so the military had been tracking the chinese spy balloon from its launch? Please visit our great sponsors:Liver Healthhttps://GetLiverHelp.com/MARTINITry Liver Health Formula completely risk-free and receive 5 FREE gifts when you order today.

On January 16, 2022, retired U.S. Air Force Brigadier General Charles McGee died at the age of 102. His story is one of profound courage, excellence in service, and inspiring personal character.McGee joined the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. At the time, however, McGee and the other black pilots were deemed unworthy to be in units with their white counterparts. In this edition of "Veterans Chonicles," McGee details the outstanding service record of Tuskegee pilots in World War II, the discrimination they faced upon returning home, the desegregation of the U.S. Armed Forces in 1947 and his service in Korea and Vietnam.McGee piloted more than 400 total combat missions and served more than 30 years in uniform. Perhaps even more impressive is his complete lack of bitterness in response to the ugly discrimination he faced. This interview between McGee and the AVC's Greg Corombos was conducted in February 2019, when then-Col. McGee was 99 years old. Shortly after turning 100 on Dec. 7, 2019, Col. McGee was promoted to Brigadier General by President Trump.

It's on everybody's mind right now. Emotions are raw. What were we doing there? Where we're going to go from here? What this means for the country, and the rest of the world, going forward, since we cannot trust this Administration's leadership to protect America. With me for some plain talk about this are some of my brain trust, the smart people involved with The Bill Walton Show. Today we've got Rich McFadden, Greg Corombos and Brian McNicoll. We get into what we're all seeing and feeling and what we think's going to happen next. Some predictions, mostly questions.
My friend Paul Teller keeps a running (and depressing) list of the destructive actions taken by Joe Biden's Administration. Joe Biden has been in office for just a few months and already the list is a mile long. Paul, who was a top aide to VP Mike Pence and is now his chief of staff, calls his list “The Horribles” The TBWS Team agrees that the name is apt. In yet another free association roundtable, we kick off with how grateful we are for lunch bucket Joe's letter - in an IRS envelope - reminding us to thank him personally for our pandemic relief checks. Then we move on to wokeness, equity and Biden's sowing more racial divisions, cancel culture, Biden's proposed “Section 8” tax plan, the assault on religious liberty, whether a Federal government promoting “wokeness” violates the Establishment Clause, the attempted Federal takeover of elections with the “John Lewis Voting Rights Act”, and the HR5 “Equality Act” which would do anything but bring about equality. “It's a Five Alarm Fire,” says Brian McNicol. Who is really driving the Biden agenda? Greg Corombos puts it, “Joe Biden is getting shoved to the front of the parade and has no idea where it's going.” But whoever's in command, “what they're doing is really damaging," says Brian. “They really think that they can control the weather, our ability to get and distribute energy, that they can just control it. They can just say, It won't be that anymore. It'll now be this. And it will magically happen." “They are operating on some very dangerous assumptions and we need to watch. It's a very dangerous time in the world.” True, yet I think you'll find this show an interesting take on the madness.
As states are expected to start receiving their first vaccine doses as soon as next week, the new battle over whether you'll be required to get the COVID shot is about to begin. In the debut of the Bill Walton Show Roundtable, I'm joined by Rich McFadden of Radio America, Greg Corombos host of the Three Martini Lunch and Journalist Brian McNicoll in a lively exchange about how having the vaccine available will impact businesses, schools and life in general.
By popular demand we're bringing “Lucretia,” Power Line's International Woman of Mystery, back to the show, and we've decided to start our own “Three Whisky Happy Hour,” because why should Greg Corombos and Jim Geraghty have all the fun (and the booze) with their Three Martini Lunch. As Lucretia is a champion whisky drinker, we decided to offer up American bourbon, Scotch (the more bracing Islay... Source
