Eoin Lacey is a performance consultant and co-founder of the Irish Strength Institute. He started his career in the health industry where he went on to be part of the management team of Irelands largest health clubs with over 11,000 members. Understanding that everyone responds differently to exercise. Eoin began his studies in Physical Therapy, Corrective Exercise and Advanced Strength and Conditioning. This brought Eoin into the Personal Training realm and together with John Connor and Stephen Ward forged the beginning of what is now the largest chain of Personal Training and Nutrition Centers in Ireland , the Irish Strength Institute. Here he trains a wide range of humans and athletes, particularly MMA athletes, Conor McGregor among them. John Connor is the co-founder of the Irish Strength Institute, a prolific high-performance center in Dublin that has catered to many of the best Combat Sport Athletes the country has to offer. John is currently completing a PhD at Dublin City University investigating the bathing protocols that are used by Mixed Martial Artists when they are cutting weight. To date, his research is the first to look at this in this population and is the first to outline a protocol that may be standardised to improve the safety of the practice. After another long absence we are back with a bang. One the air we have Darren Kenna; Originally from Dublin, Ireland, Darren's sporting background is primarily in Rugby Union. He worked with Leinster rugby for 2 years prior to moving to Sydney in 2013. Over the course of 3 years in Sydney Darren worked as a Physical Therapist and Strength & Conditioning coach at both schoolboy academy level and senior professional level, primarily within AFL . Currently he is working with Hockey Ireland Women's team as Senior S&C coach along side his role with the Irish Strength Institute as a strength & conditioning coach and physical therapist. Darren is certified through ASCA, ART, EXOS, FMS, SMA, is a competitive weightlifter as well as level 1 weightlifting coach. He is currently completing a BSc in Strength & Conditioning through Setanta College. In this episode we talk about testing, conditioning, Culture, his journey and much more.
