Jack talks about his journey from a corporate operator to full on entrepreneur, how learning about alternative tax strategies helps create the best scenario for freedom and flexibility, and how he always puts his money where his mouth is by investing his own capital into deals before bringing those deals to potential investors.
As real estate investors, saving money on our taxes is a big part of the game we play. However, if you are a passive investor or you make significant income outside of real estate, you are limited in what you can do to offset your full tax burden. Now, imagine if there was a beautiful island where you had a 4% income tax rate, wouldn't have to pay short-term or long-term capital gains, would not have to forfeit your USA citizenship, and could walk on the beach every morning… In today's episode, Jack Krupey tells us all about the tax advantages of living in Puerto Rico and why he chose to stay there after his move from the US. Jack Kuprey is CEO of JKAM Alternative Investments which focuses on acquiring value-add real estate deals. Jack led the asset management arm of the firm that made over 3 billion dollars in purchases of non-performing and re-performing mortgage debt between 2015 and 2019, before moving to Puerto Rico to pursue his entrepreneurial ambitions. In this episode, we discuss… Why moving to Puerto Rico may make more sense than any other country in the world from a tax perspective. How some syndications have begun to restructure their deals to address the individual tax needs of the investors. What changes are being made to the US tax code in the next few years. The other alternative investments that Jack has invested in to save taxes for investors. If you are considering how to structure your portfolio to be optimally tax-efficient, jack and I discuss a plethora of the most advanced tax strategies in today's episode!
