Roosevelt Boulevard. Vine Street. The Schuylkill Expressway. I-95. There are some stretches in Philadelphia where you expect people to drive crazy. But in a residential section of Germantown, the rules of the road are ignored so often that neighbors knew it was only a matter of time before tragedy struck. Recently it did, when a 21-year old was killed in a hit-and-run while crossing the street. KYW Newsradio's Shara Dae Howard tells us about the most dangerous intersection in Philadelphia you've probably never heard of, and what the Germantown community is now trying to do to fix it. The Jawncast is Jay Scott Smith, Sabrina Boyd-Surka, and Brian Seltzer. Follow @TheJawncast on Twitter for every new episode. And there's a tragic postscript to this story: days after recording our interview with Shara Dae Howard, a second woman was struck by an SUV and killed at the very same intersection, less than two weeks after the Dia Lee accident. You can read Shara Dae's reporting on the second hit-and-run incident here.

Fourth of July weekend is coming, and it's expected to bring sweltering temperatures with it. What if (and this is for the 21-and-over crowd) you couldn't cool off with your favorite beverage, like a crisp Pilsner, juicy IPA, or spiked seltzer? Thanks to a new contract for the local beer distributors' union, beer drinkers in the Philadelphia area will be spared. But why did Teamsters Local 830 strike? Haynes didn’t just make history. She survived and thrived in a cutthroat industry, all while blazing a trail for future broadcasters like KYW Newsradio’s Kim Adams. Before Adams carved out a successful career of her own, she grew up in North Philadelphia watching and studying Haynes’ work. The People's Podcast returns to deal with a couple of the most problematic Black Men on the Planet. First, Jay talks about the end of Bill Cosby, as he officially completes his tumble from "America's Dad" to convicted sexual predator, as well as taking Black America to task for enabling so much of this and shaming women into silence. Then, we hit Kanye West. While so many people seem appalled and shocked by his shameless pandering to Trump, one guy saw through Mr. West 13 years ago.
