Our study in James last week made it clear that we are to be doers of the Word, and not hearers only. This week, we'll examine three practical things evident in the pure religion of doers of the Word.
In the midst of such busy and stressful lives, how do we learn to rely on the Spirit's life giving freedom? Let's dive into Corinthians 3:12-18 to find out.
1 Samuel 17
Romans 10:14-21 | Romans 10:14-21 helps us learn our next step in rightly responding to the good news. This passage is pivotal in shaping our understanding of what must take place in order for lost sinners to be saved by God. It is also a crucial text for supplying believers with passion and urgency to share the gospel. Through this passage, we see how God graciously breaks down the excuses we tend to make to neglect our next steps of obedience. He does this to lead us into the delight of obedience so that He may be glorified. God, be magnified through our obedience to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Exodus 32:1-34:9
John 15:1–17 | Jesus repeatedly tells His disciples to abide in Him. Today, Jesus continually invites us to abide in Him. But how do we practically abide? What does an abiding walk with Christ look like? What does an abiding walk with Christ produce? These are questions we dive into this week as we seek to grow at loving God and loving others. The key element to this love is that we would abide in Christ.
Matthew 13:44-46 | There is a lot of wisdom packed into just a few short verses. In the Parable of the Hidden Treasure and the Parable of the Pearl of Great Value, God reveals that when we live with open hands and faith, we can discover the priceless gift of His Kingdom.
Revelation 21:1-27 | The greatest story ever told is the story of God's desire to dwell with His people, and to redeem them from their sin. In Revelation 21, we learn the end of this epic story, the fullness of redemption. In the world we live in where headlines and hardships can weigh heavily upon us, getting our eyes to the end of time will provide us with the hope and motivation we need to press on as disciples of Jesus in a broken world.
Genesis 14:1-14 | How do we stay grounded in a world unhinged from the truth? How do we find peace when life seems unsteady? What hope awaits the faithful believer? Is there a better way to live as Christians than what has become “typical” in American Christian circles? These are questions believers need to know in a postmodern culture that screams truth is relative. It appears that at every turn the world tells us to look inward when what we desperately need, more than ever, is someone outside of ourselves. We need a Savior. Let's delve into the words of Jesus Christ in the Gospel according to John and seek greater clarity on these questions!

At the recent Physicians for Ancestral Health Winter Retreat I had the opportunity to sit down in person with L. Amber O’Hearn, an outspoken advocate of plant-free eating. Since learning about the zero-carb carnivore approach in 2009, Amber has become an international speaker, researcher, and writer on the subjects of ketosis and the health benefits of eating meat. In this podcast, Amber and I discuss her health journey from veganism to low carb, and then to the more radical carnivore diet. She explains how shunning plant foods led to a dramatic improvement in both her physical and mental health, ending her 20-year battle with bipolar disorder, without the use of medication. She also describes her own version of zero-carb and discusses how a carnivore diet affects ketosis. In a modern world that's crowded with fad-diets and flash-in-the-pan workout routines, it can be challenging to figure out what's really best for your body. The Business Method Podcast: High-Performance & Entrepreneurship
“Everything that we know about ourselves, everything we think about ourselves, but also everything we think about the world is a narrative that we tell in a particular way.” Jeremy Hendon On today's show, we have the serial entrepreneur and co-founder of three online magazines, Jeremy Hendon on our show. Jeremy has built multiple six-figure businesses, is an expert in and storytelling, and a brilliant mind to learn from. Today, we get to hear the story behind the man. We chat about Jeremy's success mentality, and the first three businesses he built, selling two of them in just a few short years. Towards the latter part of the show, Jeremy dives deep into narrative and the importance of using narrative in business. He divulges into the psychology behind the stories that we have as people, and how you can apply this to your business to attract more clients or customers. “Narratives really do change the way we interact with the world and the way the world interacts with us.” Jeremy Hendon 01:30: Jeremy's Story 17:19: Jeremy on Success Mentality 22:08: Narrative and It Affects a Persons Stories and Myths 35:36: Are Entrepreneurs Good at Narrative? 36:51: Examples of Good Narrative “One of the ways big companies don't keep up with social media, is they don't realize that their customer's narrative is changing constantly.” Jeremy Hendon Honorable Mentions: Paleo Living https://paleoliving.org/ ‘Sapiens' by Yuval Noah Harari http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23692271-sapiens Joseph Campbell https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Campbell Eugene Schwartz http://www.mindvalleyinsights.com/eugene-schwartzs-8-rules-of-great-copywriting/ ‘The Boron Letters' by Gary Halbert http://www.thegaryhalbertletter.com/Boron/BoronLetterCh1.htm Steve Jobs iPhone Launch Video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7qPAY9JqE4 Old Spice Video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owGykVbfgUE The Blaze http://www.theblaze.com/ Uber https://www.uber.com Contact Info: http://jeremyhendon.com/ http://paleomagazine.com/ Subscribe to our podcast on iTunes https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/entrepreneur-house-live-in/id1069958541?mt=2
Jeremy Hendon and I share many of the same passions and interests, specifically those in the area of nutrition and human performance. Although everyone understands the “common sense” aspects of health (eat more vegetables, move more, drink water, etc.), there are some massive gaps in our health (sick) care system. One of these “gaps” that we discuss is stress. Typically, we view stress as a purely psychological state. However, our entire biochemistry distorts when stressors are present. Stressors can include toxins, poor food choices, thoughts, traumas, and electromagnetic fields. But one stress that is less commonly discussed is our need for a community. Historically, humans lived in tribes. But with the agricultural revolution, the industrial revolution, and now the technological revolution, this changed. Although we may be constantly tweeting/snapchatting/instagramming, we are more alienated than ever. This is a massive source of stress. Another “gap” is the biomarkers that mainstream medicine is looking to for measures of health and/or disease. Unfortunately, most doctors are still running the wrong tests and looking at the wrong data to access a person’s physical well-being. The true biomarkers of health can be obtained through functional lab tests, but these are being run by only a select group of practitioners, and are rarely financially covered by insurance companies. True biomarkers of health give a more accurate assessment of health, and can be used to prevent disease all together. This is why both Jeremy and I are so passionate about sharing this information, as it could the lives of hundreds, nay thousands of people. In this episode… Stress is more than a psychological. Food, toxins, heavy metals, electromagnetic fields are all stressors to the body. The Primal Connection Book and the hectic pace of high-tech, modern life. How our individualized society is a massive source of stress on the body. Constant “doing” makes it difficult to wind down, leading to burnout. Importance of having a sense of community for our psychological and physical well-being. Stress Management Techniques, including meditation. Lab testing for food sensitivities and nutrient deficiencies CardioMetabolic Test, the most accurate test to evaluate heart health. Mainstream medicine and insurance companies are NOT running or paying for the right lab tests. (Get the RIGHT tests here.) The best solution for changing the state of health in our nation. Doing isn’t necessarily growing. Common sense is not always common practice. Pain should never be the factor determining if you’re healthy (and what the true biomarkers are). Investing money, time, and energy into our health can save us thousands of dollars and add years to our lives in the future. Ketogenic junk food is coming, and it threatens to send the second low-carbohydrate revolution to the same place the first one ended up. That would be a terrible shame because high-fat, low-carb, moderate protein diets have so much to offer for weight loss, metabolic syndrome, athletic and cognitive performance, possibly even cancer. What can we do? Learn to cook. Prioritise food preparation. Just eat real food. Jeremy Hendon is an author, speaker, entrepreneur, digital nomad, friend, mentor and co-author of The Essential Keto Cookbook.
