While Crossbone Skully may be a new band to some, they are definitely not a fresh band when it comes to pedigree. Frontman Tommy Henriksen is an integral part of both Alice Cooper's band and the Hollywood Vampires, earning his stripes multiple times over through countless tours and live performances. But with Crossbone Skully the landscape has shifted considerably. This is Henriksen's own band. His creation. His baby. And today the world gets to share in his vision when Crossbone Skully unleash their debut album Evil World Machine on the world.A vicious, snarling slab of rock music brilliance, Evil World Machine is an emphatic statement of intent, executive produced by the legendary Mutt Lange with just enough finesse to draw comparisons with some of the bigger artists in his resume.HEAVY had the pleasure of catching up with Tommy and guitarist Anna Cara to talk more about the album and the rise and rise of Crossbone Skully."It's been a long time coming," Tommy smiled when asked about the album. "It's been quite a while since it's been finished, and to me, it feels like a bunch of excitement and relief. Finally, people can hear this."In the full interview, Tommy and Anna expressed excitement and relief at finally releasing their album, which they had been working on for a long time. They acknowledged the frustration of waiting for the right moment to release it, but believed it was the universe's timing. The group discussed the diverse musical influences in their album, including AC/DC, the Sex Pistols, and The Who. They also mentioned the various singles released from the album, and hinted at some powerful tracks that hadn't been released as singles yet. Both discussed their desire to create music that transcends genres, rather than being pigeonholed into a specific sound. They mentioned their inspiration from various artists such as The Who, Queen, David Bowie, and Motley Crue and also talked about their approach to featuring guest artists on their songs, with Nikki Sixx from Motley Crue and Phil Collen from Def Leppard being mentioned as examples.Tommy spoke about the thought process behind the album's opening track, which was inspired by David Bowie and Motley Crue plus the involvement of legendary producer Mutt Lange, who was executive producer on the album. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work with Alice Cooper's band and emphasized the importance of conveying a message of survival and doing the right thing in their music. The band also discussed their upcoming live shows, with a tour kicking off in Hollywood, and expressed interest in touring in Australia plus more.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

The Talk of Fame Podcast got to chat with Kikko Mai! Kikko Mai is an artist and songwriter from Columbus, Ohio. She writes honest songs about the beautiful and sometimes painfully awkward journey into adulthood, highlighting emotions such as guilt, anxiety, and regret. In 2020, at age fifteen, as a sophomore in high school, she won a statewide songwriting contest called Instaband. The first prize, after being signed to the label Elementary Records, was the recording, production, and release of a five song EP and music video that were released the same year. In 2020 and 2021, Kikko Mai performed individually and with her band at local venues in Columbus such as the Coffman Amphitheater, Skully's Music Diner, the Bogey Inn, and Standard Live. She has also performed at the Ohio Creatives Festival. Her experience includes venues of 400+ people. In 2022, as she was finishing up her senior year of high school, Kikko Mai released her first independent single, “pinky promise”. In the fall of 2022, she moved to Nashville where she is majoring in songwriting and minoring in music business and Spanish at Belmont University. The same year, she released “my mom's minivan” about social anxiety and being a homebody before she went to college. In 2023, Kikko released two singles: “her house” and “rendezvous”. She co-wrote “Rendezvous” with songwriter Hayley Lieberman and songwriter/producer Will Carlson. Also, she opened the Vinyl Lounge for JT Loux and Almost A.M. Now in 2024, Kikko continues to write within the Nashville and Columbus music communities, often using Discord for out-of-state writes. This year, she has performed with her band at Nashville venues such as the End and DrkMttr. In March, she opened EXIT/IN for artist and songwriter Walker Burroughs and headliner Adam Paddock. In April, she released a vulnerable single, “I thought maybe”, about feeling used. In July, Kikko released “GOOD GIRL”, co-written with songwriter/producer Aaron Carlson, about a relationship with a four year age gap. Kikko Mai aims to create a safe space for the girls, the gays, the POC, and anyone that has ever been told that they are weird or that they are too much! Interview by Karly JewellRapidly rising US rock outfit Crossbone Skully have yet to even release their debut album, yet still have managed to generate a vibe and feel seldom afforded to fresh bands, no matter their genre. But when the founding member and main man is none other than Tommy Henriksen (guitarist and musical director for Alice Cooper's band and member of Hollywood Vampires) you can sort of get a feel as to why anticipation and respect is already at a premium. To date Crossbone Skully have set the music world on fire with the singles Evil World Machine, The Boom Went The Boom (feat. Phil Collen), I'm Unbreakable and I Am The Wolf, furthering expectations for the band's debut album which is scheduled for release later this year via Better Noise Music. The album features first-class recording musicians including Nikki Sixx (Mötley Crüe), Jamie Muhoberac (My Chemical Romance, John Mayer, Seal), Chris Wyse (Hollywood Vampires, Ace Frehley, the Cult, Ozzy Osbourne), Tommy Denander, Glen Sobel (Alice Cooper, Hollywood Vampires), the late UFO bassist Pete Way, and producer/mixer Mike Plotnikoff (AC/DC, My Chemical Romance, Aerosmith), with the legendary Mutt Lange (AC/DC, Def Leppard) coming out of retirement to produce.HEAVY got the opportunity to catch up with Henriksen for a face-to-face chat last weekend while he was in Melbourne with Alice Cooper.

Tommy is one of the hidden gems of rock music. He started as a guitarist in the heavy metal band Warlock with Doro Pesch. From there, life took him on an adventure that included a pop-based solo career, a punk rock band, producer and engineer work, studio musician, and in the past decade-plus a spot in Alice Cooper's band and the supergroup Hollywood Vampires. That run-on sentence doesn't even do his career justice, so it's time to tell some rock and roll stories while getting introduced to his new project Crossbone Skully. That project is his brainchild, but with the help of Alice Cooper, Mutt Lang, Johnny Depp, and so many others it deserves the attention we're giving it this week on both this podcast and on my radio show The Cutting Edge Countdown.
New treat for you Buddies on this latest 'sode of Vinyl Community Podcasts. On our 100th episode of VCP, we feature a conversation taking us behind the music: specifically, I'm speaking with Cicely Balston of AIR Studios in London. Earlier this year Cicely was awarded the 2023 Music Producer's Guild "Mastering Engineer of The Year" honor - and for good reason! With over a decade in the field, she began to develop her trade back in 2013 at Gearbox Records, an all-analog shop known for cutting on a vintage Skully lathe. She moved on to AIR Studios in 2016, with a detour at Alchemy Mastering (later acquired by AIR) in between her return to Sir George Martin's enterprise in 2020. She's been involved in some terrific releases of late courtesy of Vinyl Me Please, including the exciting recent release of Chalino Sanchez' "15 Exitos 15". She's been part of working on projects from artists like David Bowie, to Young MC, Busta Rhymes, Witch Fever, Sun Ra and a litany of artists across many genres and styles. We touch on that, as well as navigating mastering from digital files and analog both for today's hungry vinyl consumers. As the "vinyl resurgence" continues to go full speed ahead, the mastering side of things is in great hands with Cicely and other mastering engineers taking the baton from their predecessors. This episode has it all: science, music, laughs, and some name dropping (mostly by me). Let's jump into this terrific conversation now on Vinyl Community Podcasts! In this episode, I recap the hit TV Show Snowfall. This episode was much needed for Franklin's in my opinion. I really think it was good for him to face his biggest conflict which is himself. Louie and Jerome gets to celebrate their union with all their family, friends, and partners. Skully gave the newlyweds the most memorable wedding gift that anyone could ever ask for. Franklin draws a line in the sand between him and Teddy. This was a fascinating episode and fun to watch. Enjoy!!! In this episode, we continue on with our weekly recaps of the hit FX series "Snowfall". In this episode, I recap the hit TV Show Snowfall. As the first two episodes were released we got the opportunity to see Franklin Saint get back to business. We're now into episode 3 and Franklin is somewhat rattled seeing Teddy back in the captain's seat. He's trying to settle the team as he continues to figure out if Teddy had anything to do with Alton's disappearance. He doesn't fully trust Teddy yet as he continues to ask questions about Grady's whereabouts. Jerome and Queen Loui are partners with Skully after talking him out of killing Loui last season. They made promises that they can no longer keep and things get sticky for them. Continue watching the show and be sure to join the discord via the link below. See you there!!!
