In light of the recent overturning of Roe vs. Wade, many Muslims have found themselves thrown into the middle of the abortion debate. For this episode, I brought in two individuals who are respected in the North American community for their knowledge and leadership to help navigate the issue. Shaykh Joe Bradford is an entrepreneur and American scholar of Islam. He has a Master of Islamic Law from the Islamic University of Madinah. Shaykh Joe's specialty is in Islamic finance and he focuses his efforts on creating companies that allow people of faith to align their values with their finances. He is also the co-founder of MyWassiyah.com, which helps Muslims with estate planning and wills. He is based out of Houston, Texas. After graduation, Shaykh Hamzah traveled throughout the Muslim world studying Arabic, Islamic law, grammar, sciences of hadith, and recitations of the Qu'ran. His studies took him to Mauritania, Syria, Egypt, U.A.E., Morocco and Pakistan. His studies culminated in him receiving an ijazat al-tadris, meaning "license to teach" which is the equivalent in Pakistani Islamic seminaries to a MA in Arabic and Islamic studies. His response was to pull the team together and brainstorm what they could make using their most reliable production lines in case of ongoing border disruptions. At one point they even considered making coffins, before moving to work from home desks, and perspex shields for stores. But deciding what to change to was only the beginning of their challenges - then they had to make the new products successful. Joe Bradford had already survived poverty, prison, and kidney disease when a little girl asked him to be her father. Now, "Papa" Joe runs a ministry called Elijah's Heart out of the community center in J.C. Napier Place homes, and he coordinates efforts to feed hungry kids and their families in South Nashville and around the city. He is interviewed by Joshua Martin, a rapper who grew up in the community and is using his music to uplift youth.

In today's episode I had the privilege to interview Papa Joe Bradford, he was the inspiration behind the movie unconditional (Which I highly recommend watching) and he runs a non-profit, he's the CEO and founder of a non-profit organization called Elijahsheart.com.  In this interview we discuss his how computer hacking got him in trouble, big trouble, it landed him in prison.  After prison things changed though, he met an amazing woman and became an extremely positive and inspirational role model in his community doing charitable work and working with children. About Joe Bradford: Joe is traditionally and academically trained in the Islamic sciences. He holds a graduate degree in Islamic law from the University of Medina. Perry Mason is the longest running lawyer show in American television history. Its original run lasted nine years and its success in both syndication and made-for-television movies confirm its impressive stamina. Mason's fans include lawyers and judges who were influenced by this series to enter their profession. The Mason character was created by mystery writer Erle Stanley Gardner and delivered his first brief in the novel The Case of the Velvet Claws (1933). From 1934 to 1937 Warners produced six films featuring Mason. A radio series also based on Mason ran every weekday afternoon on CBS radio from 1944 to 1955 as a detective/soap opera. When the CBS television series was developed as an evening drama, the radio series was changed from Perry Mason to The Edge of Night and the cast renamed so as not to compete against the television series.THIS EPISODE:The Case of the Crooked Candle from Perry Mason aired November 30, 1957. While Martha Bradford is waiting for her appointment at a beauty parlor, she meets Rita Bradford who apparently is also married to Joe Bradford and lives at the same address. Joe Bradford is preparing for a business meeting in San Diego. He makes plans to meet his wife Martha but fails to show up. Joe Bradford is found dead on his boat the next morning and Martha Bradford is accused of his murder when her fingerprints are found on a candle located on the boat.
