In this episode, we're marking International Women's Day—a time to reflect on the achievements of women, the challenges they continue to face, and the role that faith, society, and activism play in advancing gender equality. For those that may not be aware, International Women's Day is marked annually on March 8th to recognize the achievements of women and advocate for gender equality. It has its roots in the early 20th century, emerging from labour movements and socialist activism. This year's theme, "Accelerate Action", reminds us that progress towards true equality cannot wait. As we strive for justice, it is essential to recognise that Islam has long championed the rights of women 1400yrs ago —granting them dignity, independence, and status at a time when many societies denied them even the basic of human rights. From the right to education, financial independence, and leadership to the profound respect Islam gives to the roles of mothers, daughters, and women in all spheres of life, the teachings of the Holy Qur'an and the example of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) provide a timeless framework for gender justice.

Welcome to Episode 51 of the MindThatEgo Podcast. I'm joined by Shaykh Fadhlalla Haeri, Sufi mystic, visionary, and an enlightened master who views spirituality as a science and an art, vitally relevant to our times. Religious scholars and Sufis were part of Shaykh's formative experiences. His love and understanding of the universality of the Quranic message has imbued him with respect for other religions, spiritual paths and the ability to discern the common elements in our collective journey towards awakening. Shaykh Fadhlalla Haeri lectures and writes books and commentaries on the Holy Qur'an and related subjects, with particular emphasis on ethics, self-development and gnosis ('irfan). We discuss misconceptions about Islam, insights from Sufism, the shared essence of all religions, acceptance as a spiritual practice, the power of silence in connecting to God, embracing and transcending the duality of heaven and hell, pleasure and pain, and why we must always respect our human nature, without being limited by it. "People, have fear of your Lord who has created you from a single soul. From it He created your spouse and through them He populated the land with many men and women. Have fear of the One by whose Name you swear to settle your differences and have respect for your relatives. Allah certainly keeps watch over you." (Surah An-Nisa 4:1) The Shari'ah (Islamic Law) preserves the honor and dignity bestowed upon mankind by the Creator. These laws stem from the Holy Qur'an and Sunnah of the Prophet ? which detail the immutable rights of every human being. They serve as a solid foundation clearly outlining the person's agency within the boundaries set by Allah the Exalted; compared to man-made systems which lack legal authority and subject themselves to an endless pursuit of definitions and objectivity. Insha'Allah, this week we invite Dr. Nazreen Nawaz to Islamic Oasis LIVE to discuss how the rights of women defined by our blessed Shari'ah. Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PuwF4ahAEW0
Title: Heartfelt Connections: Islamic Teachings on Friendship Synopsis: The International Day of Friendship is marked on 30th July each year and was first proclaimed back in 2011 by the UN General Assembly with the idea that friendship between peoples, countries, cultures and individuals can inspire peace efforts and build bridges between communities. The resolution places emphasis on involving young people, as future leaders, in community activities that include different cultures and promote international understanding and respect for diversity. To mark the International Day of Friendship the UN encourages governments, international organizations and civil society groups to hold events, activities and initiatives that contribute to the efforts of the international community towards promoting a dialogue among civilizations, solidarity, mutual understanding and reconciliation. In this week's episode of Pathway to Peace, the Presenters delve into the profound role of friendship in Islam. Guided by the teachings of the Holy Qur'an, Ahadith and sayings and writings of the Promised Messiah and his succesors, they explore how genuine companionship enriches our spiritual journey and enhances our connection to Allah. The Presenters discuss the qualities of a true friend, emphasizing loyalty, honesty, and support, and how these virtues reflect the principles of faith.

Teresa Lesher is the author of the new Searching for God, Finding Love, which is an inspirational account of her personal journey deeper into faith upon the quest for truth, and in which she details her personal healing path and realization that God's divine love and mercy are both imminent and accessible by turning "inwards and upwards." The truth is easy to see. The decision is the hard part. I thank God every day for being Muslim. I'm very grateful to be among the Muslims. Teresa Lesher In this illuminating conversation, Teresa describes how she came to embrace Islam in the early 1980's while at college in the United States at a time prior to the internet and when there was remarkably little information about the faith. She explains the importance of belief in the Day of Accounting, the necessity of balance in faith by deepening one's spirituality in addition to upholding the formal disciplines of religion, that love must be based in action and in service, the key to authentic self-discovery, and much more. Teresa also shares the impact of the Course in Spiritual Healing upon her personal spiritual journey and awakening to the power and presence of God, and emphasizes the importance of realizing that the key to connection with our Creator lies in the very breath we are given each living moment. The best part of the course for me were the meditations and the breathwork. They helped me to still my soul, to feel more centered and to find some balance, and to find some quiet and peace. Teresa Lesher We also discuss the importance of recognition of results in the context of discernment, the profound and incomprehensible gift of access to the very speech of God in the form of the Holy Qur'an, how love heals and connects, the impact of technology and the internet on our culture, the importance of unplugging from the world, the difference between information and enlightenment, the power in the emptiness of the desert, and much more. About Teresa Lesher Teresa Lesher as of the time of writing lives in Kuwait with her family and is wife, mother, writer and most importantly servant of God. She is the author of Searching for God, Finding Love, and you can learn more about Teresa as well as purchase her book and connect with her directly via her website, Teresa Lesher. All this time I've been searching for God, and I found Him, as close to me as my breath. And so, before and beyond all my labels, titles, positions, and duties, I remembered my source in God, His breath breathed into my tiny body, and eventually a breath my body will exhale as I make my return journey to my Maker. Now I'm sure of who I am. And now that I know myself, I know everyone. We are all, essentially, a breath from God; we are created by Him, we belong to Him, and we are returning to Him. In the meantime, I will do my best to honor the privilege of my existence and implication of my origin. I will respect myself, and strive to be whole and wholesome, loving and loved, tender and joyful. I will honor all living things, since they, too, house that divine breath. I will stay conscious of my source and my destination and, in between, during this sojourn on earth, I will do my best to stay true to my essence, to always be, first and foremost, a breath of God. When I leave my bodily dwelling and return to God, I hope that I am recognized as belonging to Him, deemed worthy of His presence, welcomed home at last. Teresa Lesher
The fundamental and central tenet of modern Christianity essentially posits that the key to salvation is essentially the acceptance of Jesus Christ (as) into one's heart as their personal lord and savior, and that it is thus no longer necessary to follow the traditional Judaic Law. This idea then results in the belief that the criteria for both forgiveness and damnation are but the belief to which one subscribes, relegating one's deeds and actions to what generally becomes an inconsequential role in the eternal state of the human soul. In light of what is happening is currently happening in the world today (and in reality what has been happening for centuries), particularly with regards to the ongoing ethnic cleansing and genocide in Palestine, as well as the myriad of other illegitimate wars and conflicts that have been perpetrated by the nominally "Christian" western world, I felt it was time to take a closer look at this basic belief upon which modern Christianity is based, as well as to point to the danger of an ideology the divorces deeds from piety by reducing salvation to but one's professed identity. In this post, I share a clear and unambiguous statement by Jesus (as) from the Gospel of Matthew in which he himself invalidates this specific idea, i.e. that those who simply claim to believe in him will be saved. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father Who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name, and in thy name have cast out devils, and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity Jesus (as), Matthew 7:21—23 I reiterate in this post that Islam does not require the conversion of Christians, but only that they actually live up to the principles they claim the faith is based upon, and thereby avoid the descent into hypocrisy that results when our deeds and actions are inconsistent with our professed and stated beliefs. In truth, the Holy Qur'an states clearly that they who do believe and do righteous works in reality from the People of the Book shall have their share of God's divine mercy and forgiveness in the hereafter. Verily, they who believe and they of the Jews and Christians and others who believe in God and the Last Day and who act righteously by doing good shall have their reward with their Lord, and no fear shall be upon them nor shall they grieve. Surah al-Baqarah, 2:62 May Allah Almighty, the Lord of the heavens and the earth, guide us to goodness, to purity, to righteousness and to peace. Ameen. To your divine and eternal success.

Last month, I shared with you about the importance of estate planning. Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala did not leave the matters of inheritance to human interpretation. Islamic law of inheritance is coded as law in the Holy Qur'an and in Surah An-Nisa. That underscores the importance of matters of money when a person dies. And yet...most of us have neglected to create and organize our estate plans. Partly because it can be a confusing, difficult process to navigate! So today, I have brought on a guest to clarify some of the details of estate planning: estate-planning attorney and probate attorney Jen Gumbel! Jen is very familiar with both Islamic laws for inheritance and the legal intricacies that come with estate planning. I believe you are going to benefit greatly from the information she has to share! Among the most misunderstood and abused terms and concepts of Islam, both by non-Muslims and Muslims alike is the Sharia Law. Sharia is often portrayed in the media as evil and barbaric, an evil that extremists and terrorists follow, preach, and try to spread in the West. The media often do this for political reasons. The term "Sharia" linguistically originates from an Arabic word meaning "a path that leads to a watering place." Figuratively, the word refers to a clear, straight path. In Islam, Sharia Law means Divine legislation, the infallible law of God, as opposed to human legislation. Sharia is a set of Divine laws and ethics that Muslims live by to draw closer to God and to live in justice and kindness in honor of His Creation. "And We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], the Book in truth, confirming that which preceded it of the Scripture and as a criterion over it. So judge between them by what Allah has revealed and do not follow their inclinations away from what has come to you of the truth. To each of you We prescribed a law and a method. Had Allah willed, He would have made you one nation [united in religion], but He intended to test you in what He has given you; so race to all that is good. To Allah is your return all together, and He will then inform you concerning that over which you used to differ" (Quran 5:48)No society can function without rules and regulations; without legal boundaries, society will dissolve into anarchy and chaos. Most religions feature sacred Divine laws and ethics equivalent to Islam's Sharia - for instance, Judaism's Halakah Law and the Catholic's Canon Law. Shariah provides the legal framework for the healthy foundation and functioning of society. The religion of Islam incorporates a set of rules and regulations that protects and preserves the rights and freedoms of individuals and society. It is a doctrine concerned with justice, equality, and respect for all. The Sharia Law is derived from the Holy Quran, its primary source, and the Sunnah (teachings of Prophet Muhammad PBUH), a secondary source. Laws of Sharia also come from Islamic Scholars, who, in their conveyance of the law, draw upon an interpretative process that includes Qiyas (reasoning by analogy, derived from the primary sources), Ijma (the consensus of the opinions held by the Prophet's companions and agreements reached by Islamic scholars), and Ijtihad, the effort to arrive at one's own judgment or reasoning to seek the answers that go unaddressed by the Holy Qur'an and Sunnah. Of these five sources, the first two are Divine, while the other three (Qiyas, Ijma, and Ijtihad) are humanistic efforts based on independent juristic reasoning. Sharia Law is applied to protect and preserve five basic rights: the right to practice religion, the protection of Muslim and non-Muslim life, the safeguarding of the mind/intellect/reason, the preservation of honor, dignity, and family, and the sanctity of wealth and property. The Sharia aims to secure humanity's welfare and establish a righteous society. Shariah is more than just Islamic Law; it is not limited to legal issues. Sharia deals with ethical, moral, political, and social codes of conduct for Muslims at the individual and communal levels. Sharia deals with every aspect of life, such as economics, politics, crime, diet, spirituality, hygiene, sexual intercourse, and more. These laws tell Muslims precisely what God expects from them and how they can please Him. Man was created solely to worship and serve God, and without the guidance of God showing the right path, no one can achieve this purpose. These laws tell Muslims precisely what is permissible to do, eat, and drink and how to dress, sleep, and even relieve themselves. These laws also outline what Muslims are not permitted to do.

The life of the Prophet (S), in his Seerah, or life story and Hadith, or teachings, is the second source after the Holy Qur'an from which we derive our understanding of Allah's message. However, teaching our children to follow the footsteps of the Prophet (S) isn't easy if they don't fully understand who he is and love him truly. So, how can we teach our children to deeply love Rasulullah, the Prophet Muhammad (S), and what is the reality of our relationship with him in the past, present, and future? In this episode of the Muslim Superdad & Wondermom podcast, we discuss fostering appreciation for the Prophet Muhammad (S) through learning about his life. We spoke with Shaykh Abdullah Anik Misra, a scholar popularly known for writing the “Seerah Song”. He shared the secrets to nurturing a deep love for the Prophet (S), which was the goal of his “Seerah Song”. Shaykh Abdullah also explained how the Prophet (S) himself contextualized and modeled his teachings in his day to day life.
There seems to be a right wing outrage against the Holy Qur'an in the West, specially places like Sweden and Denmark. Tufail Chaturvedi joins Sanjay Dixit to discuss the reasons for this phenomenon.

The AHC Academy has expanded with new facilities for our growing school. We have established new state-of-the-art classrooms, which include collaborative and independent learning centers, libraries, play areas, along with technological classroom tools. Students are able to energize and refresh with our new athletic facilities including a fully equipped gym and playground! It is our goal to create a welcoming, positive, and inclusive space for all students in order for them to grow and achieve their full potential. The next generation of Muslims will take their first steps here at the AHC Academy!
