The Epoch Times investigative reporter Kevin Stocklin discusses how efforts to remake America's electric grid, including Biden's green energy transition, has left China, an accused saboteur of our infrastructure, as an essential supplier of transformers and other critical hardware. A new Epoch Times article written by investigative reporter Kevin Stocklin reveals that, while it appears China's “cartels” are lending a hand on the power front, it could also leave America's electric grid vulnerable to foreign control and sabotage. “If they're able to knock the grid out, basically modern society is going to fall,” Joe Trotter, director of the Energy, Environment, and Agriculture Task Force at the American Legislative Exchange Counsel, told The Epoch Times. “The modern grid runs our whole infrastructure and without power, we don't have refrigeration, our food supply goes down, our water supply goes down. If the power went out across the entire United States for a month, people would die. There'd be widespread looting. Two-to-three months and you might actually have a full societal collapse.” Despite the potential attacks we've already seen from countries like China, Russia and Iran, utilities continue to import essential hardware from China, with an estimated 10-15 percent of our electric transformers now being supplied by Chinese companies. In 2020, former President Donald Trump issued Executive Order 13920, which declared a state of emergency regarding America's power grid and barred new imports of Chinese hardware. Upon taking office, President Biden rescinded that order. In 2019, federal agents seized a transformer that arrived from China, on its way to being installed in a Colorado electric grid, and took it to a lab where it was disassembled for analysis. While the report remains classified, intelligence sources say they found that it contained microchips that intentionally allowed its functions to be hacked. Critics say that China, due to things like “backdoors” in microchips installed in grid hardware, will have the ability to shut down America's power grid at will. Joe Biggs was just sentenced to 17 years in prison. His crime? During the protests on Jan. 6, he tore down a fence that was separating police and protesters. The court used this to label his actions as terrorism. They said destroying the fence was a “deliberate, meaningful step” to disrupt the counting of electoral college votes. Mr. Biggs was the leader of the Proud Boys. And it looks like the judge is throwing the book at members of the group, similar to how the Oath Keepers are being treated. He was sentenced alongside co-defendant Zackary Rehl, who got 15 years in prison, also mainly for the destruction of the portable fence. In other news, two of the biggest financial firms that were backing the ESG agenda—environmental and social governance—are abandoning it. A potential indictment of former President Donald Trump was delayed on March 22 after the grand jury in New York investigating the Stormy Daniels hush money case was reportedly told not to meet and to be on standby for Thursday. The reason for the adjournment is unclear. Meanwhile, Republican lawmakers gave their reactions to the case. The Federal Reserve raised interest rates by 25 basis points, lifting the benchmark federal funds rate to a range of 4.75–5.0 percent, the highest since late 2007. This is the ninth consecutive rate increase by the Fed in the past year to combat inflation. Fed officials say that the banking system is “sound and resilient.” At a Senate hearing, lawmakers grilled Moderna's chief executive on issues with the company's COVID-19 vaccine. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) raised questions about adverse effects among young men who took the Moderna vaccine. Epoch Times business reporter Kevin Stocklin tells NTD's Stefania Cox that there's increasing evidence that ESG investing hurts returns and it may not effectively tackle the goals it sets out to. The Biden administration is preparing to sign up the United States to a “legally binding” accord with the World Health Organization (WHO) that would give the Geneva-based United Nations health agency the authority to dictate America's policies during a pandemic. Many major U.S. banks, industries, and businesses are aligned with ESG and are already implementing woke policies. By far the worst of these entities are Vanguard, StateStreet, and Blackrock. Those three firms hold a 90-percent share of the nation's big retirement funds, such as those for policemen, firefighters, civil servants, teachers, etc. In essence, Mr. Stocklin said these investors and other of the country's corporate leaders have pledged to bring America to NET-0 for carbon dioxide, force social justice projects forward, prevent natural gas from being used in homes and businesses, and force the use of renewable energy sources. Mr. Stocklin said that the ESG'ers have a huge advantage by controlling the investments made by the enormous retirement funds. Their investment activities with these funds can only lower the returns on the retirees' money ,as investments in renewable energies return very little profit, not least because renewables are nowhere near able to replace the need for fossil fuels at any point in the foreseeable future, if ever. Although The ESG'ers give no sign of knowing the truth, the fact is that today 84-percent of the world's energy needs can only be met by fossil fuels.
