Once an interview starts you are never really sure where its going to go. Some artist can be understandably closed and guarded preferring to only talk about themselves in terms of their artistry. In a handful of cases an artist gives us a window into their personal journey. This week's conversation with Louis Logic is one of those interviews. After gaining traction in the early/mid aughts and working with legends like MF DOOM Louis Logic seemingly fell off the rap radar for several years. He fills us in on some of the dark times he faced and how he got his life back on track after struggling with alcohol and drug problems. He rounds off the interview by talking about the exciting new projects he is working on. In the intro segment hosts David Ma and Demone Carter share their reflection on the incendiary new piece written by Jayson Buford entitled "The Painful Mediocrity of White Boy Rap" The Dad Bods also delve into the new double album release by Ka. The script, about a meek high schooler who is forced into a fight with a volatile new transfer student, is based on the high school experiences of screenwriters Richard Christian Matheson and Thomas Szollosi. It was shot in Ogden, Utah.

Many of us listen to rap music as an escape from the realities of the world around. Unfortunately, since there are so many rappers available to us, we're okay when we don't hear from another artist ever again. We tend to forget that these individual artists are regular folks who have decided that the career path they want to follow is one that relies heavily on the public. Truth be told, our favorite artist(s) is not just in the business to make money, to make that one big hit and then never be heard from again. Like I said, him/her has decided to make a career out of the artform they truly love. According to filmmaker Paul Iannacchino, Jr., rappers get old. Their music stays the same age. Paul (former member of Hangar 18, turned filmmaker) interviewed rap personalities past, present and future; from indie to mainstream for his new documentary “Adult Rappers” — a film aimed at exposing the realities of working MCs who treat their music as a normal job.
