Ross shares the story he broke and the crew discusses what the impact of this potential deal could be. Godfrey cautions the risk level of this move.Later, we stay in the Big 12 for some more news. It's a big weekend in football with the second NZ derby of the season kicking off tonight at Mt Smart Stadium. Auckland FC have dominating proceedings, winning all four matches, including a 6-1 demolition job the last time the two sides faced off in Auckland. However, the most recent match, a 2-1 Auckland victory, was a tense contest with the Black Knights holding on to win with only nine players on the field. Michael Woud, Auckland FC's goalkeeper, joined D'Arcy to preview the match. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The Wellington Phoenix have had a rough run in the New Zealand derby thus far, losing all four meetings to Auckland FC. However, they'll be hoping to change that in tonight's clash at Mt Smart Stadium – the place they suffered a 6-1 loss to the Black Knights in the final derby last season. Phoenix defender Dan Edwards joined D'Arcy to preview the match. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this episode, Mike takes a break from Northern Michigan stories and heads far north—way far north—to share memories from his year living in Keflavik, Iceland in the early 1990s while serving in the U.S. Air Force. Life on the NATO Base Mike talks about being assigned to Naval Air Station Keflavik, a joint-base environment with Air Force, Navy, Marines, and other NATO personnel. He recounts working with the 57th Fighter Interceptor Squadron – the Black Knights, maintaining F-15 electrical and environmental systems, and occasionally pulling duty in “FISneyland,” the alert barn for interceptor operations. The Journey to Get There Before Iceland came a whirlwind of military orders: Originally headed to remote Galena, Alaska, the Air Force cancelled those orders at the last minute. The next day, new orders arrived sending him to Keflavik instead. He completed F-15 training at Tyndall AFB in Florida, drove across the country, shipped his belongings, and ultimately hopped a Hawaiian Airlines DC-8 from Philadelphia to Iceland—a strange but memorable experience. Daily Life Before the Internet Mike recalls what it was like living overseas before modern connectivity: Expensive phone calls back to the States ($1.06 per minute!) Mail arriving once a week on the “rotator” DC-8 Magazines being precious entertainment Trading software, playing early PC games, and marveling at a 286 computer with 1MB of RAM A handful of TV channels including AFRTS, BBC, RTL4, and Sky News/Sports Food, Weather, and Icelandic Oddities Mike shares a mix of practical and quirky details: The legendary Icelandic hot dogs (a recurring theme!) Navy chow halls, the USO, and Friday fish fries with cod caught the same day Wild weather with winds over 100 mph, handrails along sidewalks, and dumpsters blowing around Surprisingly mild temperatures thanks to the Gulf Stream Extreme daylight shifts—near-constant darkness in winter and 24-hour light in summer Exploring Iceland During his tour, Mike bought a quirky little Škoda 120 and used it to explore beyond the base. He describes: Driving through the first roundabouts he'd ever seen Visiting the Hard Rock Café in Reykjavik, where one of his Idaho ham-radio license plates hung from the ceiling Cheap hops on Navy P-3 “airline-style” flights to London or Shannon, Ireland Customs rules that prohibited gas cans, extra cigarettes, and oddly… cassette tapes Looking Back Mike reflects on how much Iceland has changed—from relatively untouched in the early '90s to a major European travel destination today. He also notes a past interview he did on the All Things Iceland podcast in May 2020, sharing more of his experiences from that era. I appeared on an episode of All Things Iceland Episode 61 in May of 2020.

I guess I would describe the Radiant Wave Surger as having both "the power" and "the touch." And it certainly gets "ready for battle." But can it "beat the Black Knight" if it itself IS a Black Knight? Y'know, stupid question. On two fronts. First of all, of course a person can always defeat themselves. Second, why am I doing an extended bit about the theme of the pinball machine Black Knight 2000? You can find a video version of this podcast for free on Scanline Media's Patreon! I suppose I can't fault the theming: these machines are, in fact, of a knightly aesthetic. Dylan makes the Shovel Knight comparison during this ep, and it's spot on. But something about it rubs me the wrong way. Not the designs- that's a whole separate matter. But these guys being called the Black Knights. Maybe it's just because they're Sauceless in Seattle? Not quite sure. I have encountered a lot of cool "black knight" characters, and these folks just don't rank. You can find a video version of this podcast for free on Scanline Media's Patreon! Is Notre Dame in? Is Army out? What is going on?! In this episode, we talked all about Code Geass Season 2. We dug into how it picks up right after the Season 1 cliffhanger, with Lelouch living a normal school life until his memories come back and he jumps right back into leading the Black Knights. Things quickly go from a local rebellion to full-blown global war. We also revisited out discussion on how Lelouch's Geass works, especially its limits as a result of that some of that talk got a little off-track. But overall, we both agreed Season 2 tied up a lot of loose ends from the first season and delivered a strong finish. Although Jack docked it a point for some gaps and unanswered questions. We go Army heavy in this week's Pod as No. 6 Notre Dame (9-1) hosts No. 17 Army (9-0) at Yankee Stadium as part of the Shamrock Series game. We talk with Ken Kraetzer of the West Point Football Report on what makes the Black Knights so dangerous this season - it's more than just quarterback Bryson Daily, who's really good. We also talk former Granger, Indiana resident Richard Cacioppe, author of the book “Black Knights and Fighting Irish: A Rivalry, a Game, and America One Year After the End of World War II” about what this rivalry once was so many years ago. We briefly review the Virginia game (particularly the fake punt call), muster up a Pod of Old that included a memorable escape against Army in the Meadowlands in 1995 (the Ivory Covington game), and close with one hot take and one prediction for this weekend's game.

IBUYSTL Bobby Kough Sometimes, things will happen in life that causes us to have to pack up and move… I know…in my 12 years in the military, our family moved 13 times… between training assignments and deployments, etc. In what is now over 46 years of marriage, my wife and have moved 19 times. So we know what it is like when you need to sell a home, quickly and easily – or as easily and as quickly as possible – and move…Amen. For some others, it could be having to sell a home after their parents pass on…for others, it could be through a divorce, etc. The point being, when you need to sell, in some circumstance, it is not feasible to do repairs, set up the staging of the house – allowing strangers to come walking through (and realtors wanting you OUT of the house before they bring these strangers through), etc. But, that is the “traditional” route that a lot of people think they have to take…Not anymore…our guest today is Robert Kough, who will be offering you an alternate solution… Originally from Rancho Cucamonga, California, Robert Kough now resides in the St. Louis, MO area. He is a 2015 graduate of the US Army Military Academy at West Point and played as a defensive lineman with the Black Knights… with 79 career tackles… Praise God! He served as an Engineer Officer for five years. After military service, he moved into a passion that he had been holding onto for his last year or so he was in the Army – Real Estate. The Lord had him connect with a fellow West Point graduate, Jimmy Vreeland and together, they have built a hugely successful company, IBuySTL (or St. Louis). Together, they have grown this company to one of the major players in the St. Louis housing market. IBuySTL provides options to sellers outside of the traditional way of selling a home, where the seller completes repairs prior to selling. Working with IBuySTL, they will purchase your house “as-is” and offer creative solutions to alleviate many of the stressors that often come with selling a home. So far, they have built a turnkey portfolio of more than 800 houses! IBuySTL has been recognized as one of the top buyers of houses in St. Louis and the surrounding areas. Amen! Help me welcome to the program, Bobby Kough! Bobby, it is a blessing to have you with us today, brother! First question I always start with is this… other than that brief information I just shared, can you tell us in your own words, “Who is Bobby Kough?” Were you a believer before going to West Point? From what I understand, you lost your father while at West Point, correct? Was that in your Plebe year? What were the ramifications of that loss for you at West Point? Did they give you family leave time or did you have to withdraw… I'm just curious as to how that worked out… You returned and had a massive success on the football field. I live in the Baltimore / Annapolis area of Maryland and, naturally, everything here is “Go Navy.” I'm in the minority when I shout out “GO ARMY!” In fact, my son-in-law is a Navy Academy graduate and was a Marine Corps officer… but, I let my Cavalry Officer time shine through…I've got Cav yard signs, etc…just to rub it in… Share with us one of the most memorable moments you experienced on the football field… When did you realize you wanted to leave the military and begin your civilian career? Why real estate? What motivated you go down this path? How did you meet up with Jimmy Vreeland? Share with us how you are able to help homeowners looking to sell their homes in the St. Louis area? Your company is an “investment company” and not a real...
