Text us about this show.Showoff is a band with a 30-year history of blending punk, new wave, power pop, and alternative influences, but listening to their catalog you'd be surprised to find deeper influences like Conway Twitty, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, and Hank Williams, Sr. Their music is infectious and their harmonies harken back to classic bands like The Beatles. Toss in a dash of Tommy James' best psychedelic era offerings and you have the Showoff sound. Chris Envy, Steve Envy, and Mickey Molinari from the band are here to talk about their great new EP, Haverstraw, their history, and bagels."The Day You Left" and "Crimson" performed by Showoffwritten by Chris Envy℗ 2024 Manic Kat Records. Ryan Cabrera is an American musician. He began his career as a lead singer for the Dallas band Rubix Groove before pursuing his solo career. Following the 2001 release of independent album Elm St., he released his first major-label album, Take It All Away, on August 17, 2004. Earlier in the year, Cabrera had become known for his up-tempo pop-rock single "On the Way Down". It was then followed by Cabrera's second single, "True"; and his third single "40 Kinds of Sadness". He's still performing to this day and you'll hear all about that in this interview. I saw him on MTV a lot back in the day so I was super interested to know how the punk scene influenced him and what his lifestyle has been like since he broke out. I got him on the Skype and this is what we chat about What bands got him into punk music Connecting with Joe Simpson How he would sell himself at meetings with record labels The Ashley Simpson show Butting heads with John Rzeznik during their recording session His TV show Score Getting Punk'd Perez Hilton giving him a lot of shit Changing his sound Being on TRL The Lindsey Lohan story And a ton more Check him out on the Pop2000 Tour and listen to his latest single PRESCRIPTION OF YOU on Manic Kat Records. We had the pleasure of interviewing Ryan Cabrera over Zoom video!Pop icon Ryan Cabrera has dropped the serotonin-inducing new single "Prescription of You". The Platinum selling singer-songwriter channels some of the giants of the 80's scene on the new track, whilst delivering an anthem that dazzles with freshness and shimmers with pop-sensibility.Speaking on the track, Cabrera shares: “Prescription of You" is a fun, flirtatious take on the dance of desiring someone so much that you can't think about anything else! We felt an old-school Prince vibe with pops, hooks, and playful lyrics! It's a turn that lights off and get seductive type of vibe.”Since the release of debut single “On The Way Down”, Platinum selling singer-songwriter Ryan Cabrera has become synonymous with uplifting pop-rock, adorned with big hooks and soaring melodies.Major label debut, Take It All Away hit #8 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart and powered Cabrera into the hearts of American music fans with its relatable lyricism and honest delivery. Even with it's success at the time, few could have predicted the resonating impact Take It All Away would have on the US pop scene. The 2004 album would go on to be Certified Platinum and launch Cabrera to stardom.Cabrera's talent and dexterity continued to show with the release of 2015's “House on Fire”. The track hit #1 on the US Dance chart, with the multi-talented artist continuing to see his star rise on subsequent EP, Wake Up Beautiful. The new music was met with acclaim from fans and critics alike, with People Magazine dubbing “House on Fire” Cabrera's “catchiest hooks since “On The Way Down”".With collaboration and connection at the core of his ethos, Cabrera's writing credits extend beyond just his own tracks. In 2018, he penned Avril Lavigne's “Tell Me It's Over”, with the track featuring on the Canadian hitmaker's 2019 album Head Above Water.Returning to the studio re-energized in 2022, Cabrera began work on his latest material, ignited by lead single “Worth It”, a song he wrote for his now wife, WWE star Alexa Bliss. Last Christmas saw Cabrera team with O-Town's Erik-Michael Estrada for heart-warming festive hit “Spend It With You” and moving into fall '23 Cabrera has announced his signing to Manic Kat Records for the release of eagerly anticipated new single, “Prescription of You”.Cabrera has also announced his signing to Manic Kat Records. We want to hear from you! How Peter James went from playing multiple Vans Warped Tours in Reflective Insight to starting Manic Kat Records in 2014. You might be familiar with some of the label's artists like Neverlyn and Right On, Kid. We've played songs from both of those bands on Pop-Punk & Pizza. There are some pretty cool things happening at Manic Kat right now. Including the launch of their own mobile app and streaming service, PunkHub Live! Thanks for your time, Pete! Much Love, Jacques LaMore
Born of a mixture of nostalgia, humor, and stubbornness, For The Record has been actively working to keep Third Wave Ska alive since 2011. Based out of Visalia/Fresno, CA the six piece has often been complimented on their high energy performances, characteristic of the genre. Following the self release of 2018's "This is Fine", the band signed with New York based label Manic Kat Records and subsequently released their EP "The Mess They Call My 20's" in summer 2019.
