This week on America's Podcast, we dive into the self-titled debut of Blue Murder—an album packed with enough guitar wizardry to make even your air guitar feel inadequate. But does it still rock as hard as its reputation, or is it just another relic of hairspray-fueled excess? No spoilers, but let's just say we have thoughts. We also take a moment to honor the late, great John Sykes, a guitar hero who shredded his way into rock history. His influence is undeniable, but does this album showcase his finest work? Tune in to find out! And of course, our Tracks of the Week bring the heat: Mooger channels the energy of Dreamstate's "Dayseeker." Marc gets nostalgic with Whitesnake's "Bad Boys." Jerry introduces us to Blueburst's "Vanish." Until next time, as Casey Kasem used to say—Keep your feet on the ground, and keep reaching for the stars (and maybe a good distortion pedal while you're at it! #bluemurder #johnsykes #rockpodcast

On episode 150 of March Forth with Mike Bauman, Mike chats with Trauma Therapy! Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, Trauma Therapy is a metalcore/rock band that formed in 2022. With influences ranging from Motionless In White, Dayseeker, and Bad Omens, Trauma Therapy's goal is to connect with listeners by sharing their real life experiences with mental health and perseverance through trauma. That goal is embodied in Trauma Therapy's debut single "Fix My Heart." The emotionally charged track deals with singer Chris Carrington's real life experiences as a therapy patient, and the everyday happenings that accompanied his coping and healing journey. Released on August 23rd, "Fix My Heart" also has an equally emotional music video which features Chris' wife, Jill, who is the lead singer in Charlotte-based rock band Forever May Fall. Since its release, "Fix My Heart" is already resonating with music fans. In less than a month, the music video is nearing 10,000 views on YouTube, while the single is approaching 10,000 streams on Spotify alone. Working with the likes of Pangea Productions (Killakoi), Will Baker (Hollow Intent), Cody Weissinger (The Funeral Portrait), and Colt Crevar (Forever May Fall), Trauma Therapy is just scratching the surface of their potential and creativity in the metalcore and modern rock realms, with more music on the way. In this episode, Chris and drummer Aaron Kirkland talk with Mike about how they linked up for Trauma Therapy, how they got into music, Chris' mental health journey, how "Fix My Heart" came to be, Jill's support and companionship through Chris' struggles and healing, the music they're working on, and more. This week The Metal Oasis joins up with Coffee & Shugar The Podcast and welcome James back for a dive into Dark Sun by Dayseeker! To round out the trio, we also welcome a TMO first-timer, Heather! She brings an intriguing, grounded perspective to counterbalance the gushing praise for what James will call his Album of the Year. Dark Sun finds lead singer, Rory Rodriguez, in the throes of grief after the loss of his father, but channels that into 40 minutes of ambient synths to set the mind at peace. A lighter fare than what TMO is accustomed to but the journey must continue! We had the pleasure of interviewing Keith Wallen over Zoom video!BREAKING BENJAMIN guitarist KEITH WALLEN will drop his latest solo album Infinity Now on May 3 via Rise Records.Wallen has shared the video for "The Wolf”. "'The Wolf' is a song and a concept that I felt a lot of us can identify with," Wallen says. "We've all known those people that for whatever reason we just can't break ourselves away from them. An addiction on every level, all the while knowing it's a toxic situation. You break all those promises to yourself that you'll stay away, but ultimately there you are again."Commenting on the video, he shares, "The video for 'The Wolf' was shot in a beautiful house in south Nashville. Directed by Courtney Dellafiora, we wanted an intimate look and setting that was reminiscent of waking from a dream in the middle of the night, and then grabbing the guitar and playing the song. The most exciting thing of all with getting to work with 'Bane,' the real live wolf actor and his amazing training staff for the shoot! That was a first for me, and I couldn't be happier how the video turned out."ABOUT KEITH WALLEN:Keith Wallen is a prolific songwriter responsible for soaring melodies and hypnotic hooks heard across modern rock radio. The West Virginia-born troubadour uses his solo work as a vehicle to explore his multifaceted passions, moving seamlessly from the smart pop of '80s favorites like The Police and Depeche Mode to the big moody riffs of '90s grunge heroes like Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, and Stone Temple Pilots. His co-writing collaborations include compositions with Saint Asonia, Fuel, We Came As Romans, Red, Dorothy, and Korn guitarist Brian "Head" Welch's Love And Death. Wallen bares his soul as a solo artist with earnest resolve, powering his honest anthems with commanding vocals. A former member of Adelitas Way, Keith was among his first calls when Benjamin Burnley decided to reform and reconfigure his band. Dark Before Dawn, Breaking Benjamin's powerhouse comeback, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Ember followed in 2018.Keith's self-produced acoustic and piano-driven Allies EP arrived in 2014. His debut solo album, 2021'sThis World Or The Next, featured "Dream Away," a song streamed 1.4M times on Spotify alone. His second solo album, Infinity Now, includes production and co-writing contributions from Kevin Thrasher (RIVALS, Jelly Roll) and work with Dan Braunstein (Spiritbox, Dayseeker) and Andrew Baylis (Sleeping With Sirens, Jelly Roll, Brantley Gilbert).Produced by Kevin Thrasher (Jelly Roll, RIVALS) and mixed by Joel Wanasek (Rain City Drive, Scott Stapp), Keith's sophomore solo album, Infinity Now, extends a warm invitation into the singer/songwriter's heart and mind. Hard rock bombast meets intimate pensiveness via engaging songs like "Blackout," "Strings," and first single, "Headspace Holiday."As guitarist for Breaking Benjamin, a solo artist or songwriting collaborator, the common threads through Keith Wallen's work are honesty, authenticity, and heartfelt spirit. We want to hear from you! Rory Rodriguez, Dayseeker vocalist talks in-depth with LA Lloyd about their album Dark Sun which was released November 4, 2022. Fans of the Rock 30 have been requesting the new single from Dayseeker called Without Me. As Rory explains, we were encouraged to do a co-write with someone outside the band. That person was Matt Squire, who had worked previously with Panic At The Disco, Te Used and even Demi Lovato. It was a good decision as the song is turning out to be one of their biggest hits.

Dayseeker is experiencing the rare momentum of a band just hitting their stride. With their newly-released album Dark Sun, they're following up the 2019 fan-beloved album Sleeptalk. While offering continuity of quality, Dark Sun also ventures into wholly new territory for the post-metalcore band.Much of the new ground broken on Dark Sun is due to the experience of frontman Rory Rodriguez, who wrote the majority of the album about his dad's death. “The sun burned out the day that my dad died,” Rory explains, illuminating the album's title. Those are the themes we explore in this episode of Trevor Talks. Rory shares with us about losing his own father just as he became a father himself, how COVID catalyzed the band's role in fans' hearts, and what it's like to be a band on the rise. He also offers insight into his personal struggle with anxiety and how songwriting continues to be the lifeline that pulls him through.Listen to Dark Sun by Dayseeker:Apple Music: https://music.apple.com/us/album/dark-sun/1644926872Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/album/5LBwRaecL24pCuyX5klZm5?si=cbkz0G_mQRS1pezHYlt4KQ This show is sponsored by lifeaudio: https://www.lifeaudio.com/ If you're struggling and in need of support, visit:HeartSupport: www.heartsupport.comDeath2Life: https://d2lrevolution.com Teen Hopeline: http://www.teenhopeline.com/Beneath the Skin: https://www.beneaththeskinonline.org/ To Write Love On Her Arms: https://twloha.com/find-help/ Follow Dayseeker:Official website: https://dayseeker.band/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dayseeker/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/dayseeker YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8Mj8S4i3qTfrODM_IOyxRw Twitter: https://twitter.com/dayseekerFor more Trevor Talks:Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/4QvmLXo8mrOvlpfIZIgwBUApple Music: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/trevor-talks/id1513832599 Google Podcasts: https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkcy5idXp6c3Byb3V0LmNvbS8xMTEwNzc5LnJzcw== Instagram: http://instagram.com/trevortalkspodcast Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/trevortalkspodcast
