Riding Shotgun With Charlie #228 Jay Grazio Executive Editor, Shooting Illustrated I was down in Fairfax, VA, filming shows with the NRA staff. One of the folks who I had lunch with was Jay Grazio. He's originally from Massachusetts, a funny guy, and we hit it off well. So we filmed a show! One of the perks of his position is that he gets to train. When we did the show, he'd recently visited Gunstie in Arizona. It also sounds like the NRA has the employees do training together, which he says he did with one of the other staff members. As a Bay Stater, it's hard to be a gun person, with all the limitations (infringements) and laws (more infringements) that we have. As much as he loved growing up in small town New England, it wasn't good as a gun activist and writer. When he took the position at Shooting Illustrated, he made the move to free America in Virginia. At a young age, the shooting bug hit him. His father was a Mass State Police police officer and his grandfather was a town police officer. Firearms were always around and safety was emphasised by the elders. Guns were tools to the family. His grandfather would tell him stories of when he was young and owned a diner. During the Depression, often people would settle up with bills and exchange meals for firearms. This makes the history of firearms a big interest for Jay. One prized possession is his grandfather's Colt revolver that he carried, which was made in the 1930's. Another is a 1911 from 1917, which still fires without any issues, just like it did over 100 years ago. Always one to look for a good gun story, Jay would help friends in need by offering to buy guns from friends and when they could pay him back, he'd give the gun back. But there was one Colt Python that he wasn't able to come up with the money for and it got away from him. He also had to pass on a fully, lawfully transferable M16 that was only $10,000 back then. He has a degree in biology and a master's degree in biochemistry, so of course he became an editor. In the early days, Jay was involved in lots of blogging on various websites and topics. He used to argue over politics online, like many of us still do. Then a friend had him write as the resident “gun guy”. He started his own blog about firearms by reviewing LaserLyte products, which he saw in an American Rifleman magazine. That led to more and more reviews and products. Things just kept rolling from there. Since then he's written for Shooting Illustrated, Recoil, and Western Shooting Journal. When there was an opening at Shooting Illustrated, he was encouraged to apply. He took the chance and it worked out. Getting a degree and masters with a biology and sciences background, he understood writing, working on thesis, and meeting deadlines. Having some experience in sales marketing and websites came in handy, too. All transferable skills as he admits. At a previous job, Jay shares what's really a typical story for a gun owner in “occupied territory.” One colleague, who was an avid hunter, kept a knife in his truck in case there was an incident. This person wasn't a fan of ARs. He thanked Jay on his last day at the job for not causing an incident when he left. This is a display that not all gun owners are created equally. It was OK for the man to have a “military grade sniper rifle”, but not acceptable, to him, for someone else to own an AR. Hypocrisy has no bounds. Jay was a great guy to spend time with! He's a great story teller. His position gives him exposure to all sorts of training, gear, and personalities in the gun community. This was a fun interview and I hope y'all enjoy it. You can check out Shooting Illustrated from or the link below, or NRA's website, and read all of Jay's articles and the work he does. Send us a textIt begins! The retrial of Karen Read is underway, approximately 9-10 jurors have been seated so far. A full jury is likely to be seated this week. Judge Bev denied the defense motion for a police policy and procedure expert Mike Easter. The judge says that normal police procedure is within the common knowledge of laypersons? The third party culprit defense has been winnowed down to two potential culprits. Brian Albert and Brian Higgins. Colin Albert can no longer be considered with this dynamic duo. Judge Bev seemingly believed testimony that Colin left Fairview, prior to John's arrival. Had that been definitively determined?WCVB TV-https://bit.ly/42zzuUDNBC Boston-https://bit.ly/4jrFvIRX-bcpbeantown Email-barry@bostonconfidential.net
Send us a textPhillip Chism, committed one of the most heinous crimes in Massachusetts history. He raped and brutally murdered his high school teacher Colleen Ritzer in picturesque Danvers, Massachusetts. Chism's defense claims the exclusion of brain scan evidence at trial, is grounds for appeal. Chism is a Ted Bundy level sexual predator and regardless, this guy will be released in his 50's. If his appeal is successful, he'll be out at 39. Do you want your daughter sitting next to this guy on the MBTA?TB v Commonwealth of Massachusetts-This case appears to be falling apart. The Mass State Police, according to the defense, have used informants, with ACTIVE axes to grind against TB, furthermore these informants have troubling pasts, including mental health and criminal histories, including losing custody of children...and worse.Don't miss this episode! Send us a Text Message. We finally had a State Police Trooper on the stand, But it was not lead detective Proctor. We also had some Mass State Police forensic techs on the stand, Adam Lally seemingly wanted to bore the jury to sleep and he was largely successful. One of the scientists appeared near tears when she had to name Detective Proctor. We ended the week with some excitement from Yuri Bukhenik. The Commonwealth put on a video that illustrated the MSP's work inside the CPD Sallyport, all seemed well, until cross examination, which revealed the Prosecution submitted mirrored and possibly doctored video footage. Bombshells were dropped in the last hearing from the promised "Touhy" information, supplied by the DOJ. Some of the information revealed; Three FBI accident reconstructionists have reported that Karen Read's vehicle did not strike John O'Keefe and John was not killed by a vehicle strike. BOOM! Why is Karen Read still under indictment and how did the taillight fragments get to the crime scene, if there was NO vehicle strike???The FBI also confirmed (Introduced by the defense) that the infamous google search by Jen Mcabe 2:27am ("how long to die in the cold") did occur. It was also revealed the District Attorney Morrisey allowed Brian Higgins and Brian Albert to DESTROY their cell phone, despite a court order to retain all electronic devices. The FBI also revealed that Higgins and B.Albert had a conversation on the destroyed phones just prior to the "how long to die in the cold" google search, despite saying in police reports that they were asleep by that time. Finally, the defense revealed that homicide investigator Michael Proctor admitted to his substantial friendship with the Alberts during his testimony before the federal grand jury, investigating police corruption.A text message from Micheal Proctor's sister to Investigator Proctor revealed that his sister ran into Julie Albert, where she stated a desire to give Micheal Proctor "a gift, when this is all over" Trooper Proctor replied "give it to my wife". This was clearly a bribe to keep the Alberts out of the jackpot in this case. Why is Karen Read still under indictment?WCVB TV-https://bit.ly/3TpozXZBoston.com-https://bit.ly/3x6CzOB

One of the prime suspects in this case is believed to have made a fraudulent phone call, stating he discovered a body on the highway. A short time later the local criminal walked into the police station asking if it was Theresa's body on the highway. The police had barely arrived at the scene, how would he have that information? The dispatcher stated that the caller sounded just like the local man standing in the police lobby. He walked out without being interviewed, his vehicle and home were not immediately searched. By the time the police searched his vehicle the interior of the van had been stripped.Theresa reported to a good samaritan that she had been raped, semen was eventually found on her jeans, did the police search this crime scene? that information is unclear, however it appears a search of the apartment never occurred. It may be less time consuming to ask what went right in this case. Justice was denied in this case, was it intentional?
