¡Hola, amiguis!

Not long ago, Tyler and I did a random episode where we talked about the history of Black Mirror and went through some of our favorite episodes. We did so in anticipation of the new season which is now here. In the non-spoiler section, we ranked the 5 new episodes and discussed what we liked or didn't like about the stories without going into detail, we then elaborate in the spoiler section for every episode. Enjoy! Netflix is raising prices, cracking down on password sharing, and adding an ad tier. In this episode, Naomi and Michele cover this sea of changes at the company, discuss why it's a target of the writers' strike, and investigate its founders, Marc Bernays Randolph and Reed Hoffman.
The Context of White Supremacy welcomes the return of Dr. Martin Kevorkian. A University of Texas Austin professor of English, Dr. Kevorkian authored the 2009 text, Color Monitors: The Blackface of Technology in America. The main theme of the text is that films and narratives like The Matrix and The Terminator franchises are metaphors for White anxiety about a loss of power to non-white people. Dr. Kevorkian has visited The C.O.W.S. many times over the years to dissect White Supremacist components to many films. Since the Covid-19 pandemic, many folks around the world have had more time to binge watch content. we selected a fresh batch of offerings. The recent protests against Racism and police killings of black people lifted The Hate U Give (book and film) back to relevance. It's daily cited as a work to help parents explain the current racial crisis to children. Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo (1984) is also referenced daily, although not as a tool to explain racial oppression. This 80's rap musical is cited constantly to help explain the "boogaloo" - a term used by a segment of White Supremacists to describe civil unrest and a failure of police and government systems. A number of Race Soldiers use the threat of an apocalyptic boogaloo to motivate gun and weapon stockpiling as well as combat training. Color Monitors spends a significant amount of time on Arnold Schwarzenegger's Terminator, so we'll see if last year's release, Terminator: Dark Fate, fits his analysis for the previous films in the series. The latest installment is set in Mexico, and features machines and White people risking their existence to save a Mexican female. Finally, we'll revisit the Netflix Black Mirror series. Gus could barely stomach one episode from the fifth season, so we'll focus on "Striking Vipers" and the continual theme of castrated black males. #TheSicknessIsWhiteSupremacy INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 605.313.5164 CODE 564943#

Episode 08 - Choose Your Own Bandersnatch. We discuss the latest Netflix Black Mirror movie: Bandersnatch. This is a Choose Your Own Adventure type of thing, just like the books we grew up with. Paul & John discuss how this hits and what this means for future options on TV!Email us at: whatifgeeks@gmail.com"Welcome to 'What If Geeks', the show where we talk all things in Geek culture. It's that time of year, people decide what direction to "change" their lives but they rarely see it through. Decide what you want, make a choice, and take action over your intent. Make 2019 yours. Do something and live with the choices. Life is worth the risk. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/joshua-peek/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/joshua-peek/support
Netflix’s Bandersnatch a movie where you make the decisions premiered and though it wasn’t as hyped up as Birdbox got its fair share of publicity so I decided to check it out. Set in 1984 it is about a video game designer who is having his decisions made by an unknown entity (you) from the 21st century. The idea as novel as it may be disappointed me on many levels because there were moments based on the decisions, I was making the story didn’t remain cohesive. When you branched off to a dead end the movie started over and fast forwarded to your last successful decision point. I really like Black Mirror because it takes me back to the old Twilight Zone and Outer Limits style of shows but some episodes are great some are not as I said in my older Black Mirror Review on YouTube. Bandersnatch the standalone Black Mirror film needs to do just that: STAND ALONE as innovative as the concept is the delivery failed. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Episode 42 "The USS Callister and Avocados" Hello GLC listeners and prisoners! If you enjoy Star Trek and/or role playing video games, and you have not yet watched Season 4: Episode 1 of Netflix "Black Mirror", then... get thee to a Holodeck! Or your living room, and watch it. It's not just Star Trek parody, it's a smart take on modern gaming, creeps with too much power, overcoming adversity, and good versus evil? Although, who do you root for? The captain of the USS Callister, Robert Cody, or the newest crew member, Nanette Cole? Chuck and I discuss this cool episode specifically, and wonder if it could make a decent series. What does "USS Callister" have that "The Orville" doesn't? Thank you to Ashley from Kentucky (Ashe976 on Instagram/Twitter) for her revised outro (and intro?). Also, thanks to MissGeek89 (Instagram) for her Callister review from jolly ol' England. Please follow them both on Instagram if you aren't already. I hope you enjoy the episode!
