spmnoticias.com Este lunes 13 de abril de 2026, se confirmó el fallecimiento del veterano periodista y comunicador dominicano Carlos Batista Matos, una figura icónica de la crónica de espectáculos en la República Dominicana.  Conocido popularmente por sus apodos "El Hombre Más Caro" y "El Hombre Más Bello", Batista Matos dejó una marca indeleble en la televisión y la prensa escrita del país.  Fue productor y conductor del programa "Con los Famosos", transmitido por Color Visión, donde se caracterizó por su estilo directo, ameno y, en ocasiones, polémico. También fue una figura central en el emblemático programa "El Show del Mediodía".  Inició su carrera en el desaparecido vespertino Última Hora, donde fue editor de la sección "La Tarde Alegre" y autor de la influyente columna "Escenario". Realizó importantes aportes a la documentación de la cultura popular con sus libros Historia y evolución del merengue (1999) y Bachata: historia y evolución (2002).  Fue presidente de la Fundación Bulevar de las Estrellas y ocupó la vicepresidencia de la Asociación de Cronistas de Arte (Acroarte) entre 1993 y 1995. Según las informaciones preliminares, el comunicador fue encontrado sin vida en su apartamento en Santo Domingo.
