When his grandmother passed away several years ago, each of the grandchildren got a lump sum of money. It wasn't a ton, $10,000 per grandchild. He got 10k, and his older sister got $10k. Because he was underage at the time, it was handled by his parents. Now that he has $50,000 in college loans, he asked his parents for the money so he could put it towards his bills and a security deposit for an appointment. They've informed him that they had to use the money towards his sister's medical procedure years ago. He says her “medical procedure” was a nose job that wasn't covered by insurance- and they won't/can't pay him back.
