The drowsiness of Eurobike has barely faded just as the Tour is about to kick off. This week, Escape's tech team members Suvi Loponen, Ronan Mc Laughlin, and Dave Rome are on Geek Warning to discuss the biggest tech of the week and some things on their minds.A recap of Eurobike is provided by Suvi, along with pondering what the future holds for this event that seems to be in decline.Ronan and Dave go deep on Enve's new road wheels, which quite surprisingly, have a hooked rim. That's big news from a company that pioneered the hookless road space.Dave poses the impossible question of what coloured spokes he should choose. And there's a fun PSA related to the countless problematic adverts seen from brands that create maintenance products. The end of the episode wraps with our usual Ask a Wrench segment. This is typically exclusive to members of Escape Collective, but not this week! This week is a free week and so everyone will hear the full member-only version that includes pro race mechanic Brad Copeland answering a few member-submitted technical questions.Time stamps:1:00 - Eurobike recap and whether such trade shows are still relevant18:20 - A deep chat on Enve's new SES 4.5 Pro going hooked33:00 - Canyon's new Grizl and a new weird handlebar38:30 - On Dave's mind: Silver hubs, but what coloured spokes?44:00 - PSA: Be cautious of maintenance product brands giving you maintenance advice on socials.48:00 - Apidura's Aero System53:00 - Ask a Wrench (open to all for this week!)54:30 - Footwear for mechanics1:03:00 - How to find a mystery clicking noise1:14:00 - General thoughts on hitch racks

This podcast didn't have one specific topic. But rather, everyday it seems we hear about more absolutely dumb & ridiculous news coming from the automotive industry... and it's just hard to watch lol. Here are a couple abbreviated stories from this past week. If you want the full articles, just check out our site (s3mag.com) or download our free app (S3 Magazine). 1) A brand new Hummer EV broke down in the middle of a highway during rush hour. It was wet outside, and GM's all-terrain EV went totally dead. And unfortunately for GM, the brand new Hummer EV belongs to some well-known YouTubers in the truck world – The Fast Lane Truck. The Hummer threw a steering code & I believe a TPMS code. Basically things started acting glitchy. And when the concerned owner, Roman Mica, tried to restart it at a traffic light (as you restart your computer when it starts acting dumb)… it totally shut down. Makes you wonder.... •EVs are more software than machine; essentially a rolling computer. •So when something fails, EVs behave more like a laptop than something mechanical. •Not even the hood would pop open; the entire 9,000lb vehicle was bricked in the middle of a highway. •Any vehicle can fail. But with ICE you at least have a chance to fix it (and/or limp it home) if you're mechanically inclined. •The new Hummer is GM's flagship EV. Its software filters to other GM EV models. 2) The NTSB & NYC's governor are dumb & they wanna make everyone else dumb too. With the help of New York City of course, the NTSB is testing "speed limiting technology" in some of NYC's fleet vehicles… and lobbying that this technology goes into every new consumer vehicle. IT WORKS EXACTLY HOW YOU THINK IT WOULD: YOUR VEHICLE WILL NOT LET YOU SPEED. Simple as that. Your pedal goes dead when the vehicle reaches the posted speed limit, and you are not in control. LADIES & GENTLEMEN, YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND THIS LOUD & CLEAR: These people are morons. They're clowns, and they're clueless. AND – they think they can do a better job of running your life than you can. That should seriously concern you. Speed-limiters will not eliminate accidents, they will just create new stupider ones. You know why? BECAUSE SPEED ISN'T THE REAL PROBLEM… Bad drivers are the real problem. Distracted drivers are the real problem. A lack of driver training in this country is a real problem. And bad roadways & traffic issues are a very notable issue. But let's not acknowledge the real problems huh? Instead – let's bury our heads even further up our technology-dependent asses & create even more incapable drivers. 3) PSA: Be careful not to back into a tree & crack a taillight when you're off-roading your big-ass new Hummer EV. Because apparently each taillight will set you back over $3,000. Now don't get me wrong, the taillights on the Hummer EV look absolutely killer! But… WITH THE DIRECTION THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY IS MOVING AS A WHOLE, ESPECIALLY IN THE EV REALM… The price of vehicle components are going through the roof. We're talking – exponentially through the roof. Everything is so interwoven electronically, that even a single relatively simple malfunction can become crippling, not only to the vehicle… but also to your wallet! Hey - remember to DOWNLOAD OUR FREE APP so you can see all these articles as they come out... PLUS features of cool modified cars that are actually awesome because they were made before the auto industry was playing a to-the-death game of dumb & dumber.

Welcome back the F.A.B. Podcast!! This is the first episode of Season 2!! Moni and Kat are in the building (Cue the horns): The ladies kick off this episode reflecting back on the first year of their podcasting journey. Full of gratitude, Moni gives the longest dedication ever to some of their listeners and supporters, and Kat shouts out "Love, Death and Robots" for helping her maintain sanity. The ladies get started discussing the ups and downs of creating the show, along with what they are proud of and want to accomplish moving forward. True to form, the ladies take a few pit stops to discuss why people don't like to read, SuperHead's rebrand, and in Kat's words the fact that “Kevin Samuels' heart exploded from gas station dick pills while he was, you know, smashing a chunky Latina”. We talk about traveling, because it’s something we do and love. Having new experiences and seeing new places is definitely worth the work, expense, and risk for us. Still, we take a few common sense precautions to make sure that our trips our safe for us, our family, and our possessions. We like to expect the best, but have a back up plan just in case. In this episode, we share tips and tricks to help keep you safe while traveling. We talk about precautions that can be done ahead of time during the research process. We talk about transportation, car services, having a backup for important documents, blending in with the locals, having a contact person at home, and more to make your trip safe and fun. Show Notes [01:55] Take a look at the neighborhoods that you will be visiting on your trip. Learn what areas are safe and what areas you should avoid. [02:14] Know if there is a nearby medical facility. Look up this information before you head out on your trip. [03:17] Use travel reviews to learn about whether the area is safe or not. [04:54] Think about how you're going to get from place to place. Public transit is great during the day, but it might not be as safe during the night time. [06:44] Think about whether you need vaccines before you go to specific destinations. Also make sure you have your prescriptions refilled. [07:46] Safety comes first when it comes to excursions. Pay attention to the providers reputation. If it doesn't look right, don't do it. [09:34] Thoroughly research your destination before you go to have a fun and exciting adventure that is also safe. [10:01] Don't bring valuables if you can avoid it. [11:48] You will have to have money, credit cards, passports, and licenses with you. It's important to keep these things on your person. [14:14] Don't leave valuables in a rental car. People can tell that you are a tourist. #Don'tFlashCash [16:44] Leaving stuff behind in your hotel room lowers the risk for theft. [18:21] PSA Be careful what you are drinking. It's fine in a safe secure place like a cruise, but be careful in a strange city. You need to be aware of danger and be able to get around safely. [20:30] Try to blend in. In Paris, people don't wear t-shirts and shorts. Europe is a little more formal than the US. It's fun to feel like one of the locals. [22:45] Have an air of confidence about you. Have a plan and know where you are going. [23:49] If you get lost go into a shop or restaurant and ask for directions. [24:59] Plan your flight, so that you will during daylight hours. Arrange to have a car pick you up at the airport. Don't walk around late at night. [26:38] Lyft allows you to reserve ahead of time. The app should tell you the drivers name, and they should know your name. The license plate, make, and model of the car are on the app. [28:49] It might be worth it to pay more and stay in the city or in a safer area. This is important when traveling abroad. [29:46] Trust your instincts when you are considering excursions. [30:57] Have a backup plan and prepare for the worst. Have backup documents. You can access documents on the cloud. If you lose your passport, you can go to an embassy and get help. Have backup cash in a secret spot. [34:56] Travel insurance is a reimbursement type insurance when you're traveling. The cost of travel insurance is usually 4% to 10% of the cost of the entire trip. It's also important to know what is and isn't included. [37:46] Have someone who you can check in with that knows where you are staying. Then let them know how things are going and where you are. They can also have the backup document information. Don't post on social media while you are out of town. Is it okay for people in relationships to like the opposite sex's pics on instagram? The girls are addressing the topic and introduce a psychotic way to see ALL of your partner's instagram activity. They also discuss an amazing way to dominate dating apps (that has worked for both of the girls), a serious criminal past involving the Fathers, and lastly a sex position that made a guy cry that involves girl-on-top and NO eye contact. PSA: Be careful of this new hack exposing all Facetune users. Its not what you think.

It is Friday. Not only does that mean you are mere hours away from making poor life choices, but the Relatively Speaking Podcast is here to help you make them! This week's edition of the podcast is all the flame emojis. Not just one or two. All. Of. Them. Don't believe us? You will just have to listen to hear how wrong you are. To start the show, Jared forces Joseph to discuss NBA All-Star starter snubs. While Joseph continuously tells him that he does not care (as long as we find out who Joel Embiid's mystery woman is), Jared discusses this entire situation in earnest and without irony. After that, the guys talk about the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame. Mostly, that it is a joke for letting in guys with steroid scandal clouds of their heads, but won't allow the greatest baseball player to ever put his foot on a blade of grass, Barry Bonds, to get inducted. Boo, newspaper writers! TNT is doing a player-only broadcast thing every Monday for a month. Jared thinks it is bad. So does Joseph, but once again, he appears indifferent on the matter. Ask Me Anything is lit this week. So lit, in fact, the podcast nearly caught on fire with all the hot-takes, lava cakes and boom-shaka-laka makes -- or something. Likely something, but who cares about the semantics, as we've clearly reached the filler portion of this post-before-the-actual-podcast section of this post. PSA: Be kind to one another... unless you really hate that other person. Then don't be kind.

The Relatively Speaking Podcast is here to help you prep from embarrassing yourself in the final seconds of 2016. Not really, though, as we much rather you attempt to make a move on someone a few dozen times out of your league. NFL Week 17 Picks (Jared Mints 43-37, Joseph Nardone 49-31) Browns at Steelers Bills at Jets Giants at Skins Raiders at Broncos Packers at Lions After Joseph gets done destroying Jared in their seasonal battle of who is better than the other at winning money, it is on to discuss more important things. Best of/Worst of 2016 Best: Cleveland Cavaliers and Chicago Cubs winning titles. Netflix original content. Much, much more. Worst: Sports Twitter. Loads of self-deprecation. Joseph and Jared have a hot-take concerning celebrity deaths. AMA @14TeamMocker is the kid crossing up the white lady on 23rd vid fake? Is it ok to laugh at obvious fake vids? @playorbplayd If Eric taught Jameel his moves and Jameel taught Ty his moves then who taught Eric his moves? @givenupomlife why do people pretend five guys is special The AMA is normally when the show ends, but somehow Jared and Joseph end up talking much longer about condiments, Seal, getting chubby, life, and many other aspects of things that are so important you must listen or you will melt into the fabric of space and time. Follow Jared on Twitter. Follow Joseph on Twitter. How? Work for it, you lazy bums. Seriously, do we have to do everything for you? PSA: Be safe this weekend!
