On this episode of The MacRumors Show, we discuss the latest leaks about the next-generation iPad Pro, MacBook Pro, Studio Display, and Vision Pro. Earlier this week, an apparent unboxing video of an updated ‌iPad Pro‌ with the M5 chip was shared online. The same YouTube account leaked the 14-inch ‌MacBook Pro‌ with the M4 chip before it was announced by Apple last year. The new ‌iPad Pro‌ does not have any noticeable external design changes compared to the current models with the M4 chip, with the chip being the only difference. Meanwhile, documents leaked from the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) reveal the next-generation ‌iPad Pro‌, ‌MacBook Pro‌, and Vision Pro are imminent. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman also recently detailed Apple's plan to release two new external monitors either later this year or in early 2026. Gurman this week revealed that Apple has stopped work on a cheaper, lighter version of the $3,499 Vision Pro. There were rumors that Apple was developing a a much lighter, more affordable "Vision Air" for launch in 2027, but Apple is now apparently transitioning engineers from that project to its smart glasses project to compete with Meta. Last year, The Information reported that suspended its work on the true second-generation Vision Pro. This means that the only new Vision product in the pipeline is the impending refresh of the existing product to upgrade to the M5 chip.  We discuss the wave of product leaks and our expectations for the new releases, as well as the implications of Apple seemingly halting work on new Vision headsets. And Apple quietly tests a Siri revamp while leaning on Google to stay in the AI race.Show Notes with links:U.S. auto sales stayed stronger than expected this summer, but analysts now warn the industry may face a softer fourth quarter as affordability challenges and waning incentives take hold.September SAAR reached 16.2M, boosted by a surge in EV purchases before the $7,500 credit expired.EVs made up over 12% of September retail sales, with Q3 EV share hitting a record 10%.GM, Toyota, Ford, and Hyundai continue to grow share, while Stellantis is on its ninth straight quarterly decline.Analysts expect full-year sales of 16.1M, slightly above 2024 but below the current pace.“The federal tax credit was a key catalyst for EV adoption, and its expiration marks a pivotal moment,” said Cox's Stephanie Valdez Streaty.Despite tariffs rattling the market, brand loyalty is holding strong for trusted automakers like Toyota, Honda, and Ford. J.D. Power's 2025 U.S. Automotive Brand Loyalty Study shows loyalty dipped slightly below 50% overall, but top brands are still keeping customers in the family.Average brand loyalty across all nameplates is 49%, down from 51% last year.Toyota leads mass market cars at 62%, with Honda close behind.Honda tops mass market SUVs at 62%, just ahead of Subaru.Ford trucks earn the highest loyalty in the entire study at 66.6%.Tyson Jominy of J.D. While employees are using it to prototype smarter features, Apple looks increasingly likely to lean on Google's Gemini for consumer-facing AI.Veritas is being used to test Siri upgrades like searching personal data and editing photos. The tool functions like ChatGPT or Gemini, with conversational history and deeper follow-ups.Apple has delayed its Siri revamp multiple times, with Apple Intelligence drawing lukewarm reviews. For now, Veritas will remain internal — a move Bloomberg's Mark Gurman calls a mistake.Apple may outsource search AI to Google, signaling it's behind in the race to integrate AI.0:00 Intro with Paul J Daly and Kyle Mountsier1:30 The More Than Cars Launch on October 1 - morethancars.com4:59 September Retail Auto Sales Strong7:54 JD Power Brand Loyalty SurJoin Paul J Daly and Kyle Mountsier every morning for the Automotive State of the Union podcast as they connect the dots across car dealerships, retail trends, emerging tech like AI, and cultural shifts—bringing clarity, speed, and people-first insight to automotive leaders navigating a rapidly changing industry.Get the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/

Marty covers the Space Black color rumor and internal chip bump for the next Apple Vision Pro as reported by Zac Hall at 9to5Mac, relaying Mark Gurman's Bloomberg preview ahead of Apple's September 9 event. Primary SourceApple Vision Pro could soon have a whole new look — Zac Hall, 9to5Mac (Sept 5, 2025)https://9to5mac.com/2025/09/05/apple-vision-pro-2-space-black/  What the reporting says·       Apple has tested Space Black as a color option for the next Vision Pro.·       Expect a chip upgrade from M2 to a newer generation (M4 or possibly M5) to headline internal changes.·       External design shifts may be modest—think Apple Watch Ultra → Ultra 2—though a single head‑strap has also been rumored for comfort.·       Apple is exploring a cheaper/lighter headset and even smart glasses over the next two years (per Bloomberg's preview referenced by 9to5Mac). Why this matters·       Color as a visible “tell”: a Space Black finish could be the easiest way to spot the new model if most changes are internal.·       Performance bump: newer silicon should improve latency, video encode/decode, and multitasking headroom for spatial apps.·       Comfort cues: if Apple moves to a single strap, setup friction could drop and long-session stability could improve. What to watch for at/after Sept 9·       Any explicit mention of new Vision Pro colorways or retail images that show Space Black hardware.·       Release notes or developer guidance hinting at higher default rendering targets or new media pipelines tied to newer chips.·       Pricing moves: color alone won't move the $3,499 needle; look for hints about a lower-cost model later on. Quick takeaways·       If the look matters to you, waiting for official confirmation could make sense.·       If you prefer value, keep an eye on first‑gen promotions/refurbs once the refresh lands.·       Expect incremental hardware this round; bigger shifts may come with a lighter/cheaper model or eventual smart glasses.Follow the live stream at YouTube.com/@VisionProfiles on Monday nights at 9 PM EST or catch the video later on Youtube or audio on any pod catcher service Email: ThePodTalkNetwork@gmail.comWebsite: ThePodTalk.Net

On this week's episode of The MacRumors Show, we discuss Apple's roadmap for new Vision headsets and smart glasses over the next few years. At the end of June, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo leaked an extensive roadmap of the company's plans for its Vision and smart glasses product lines until the end of the decade. Most recently, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman provided some clarifications about the new Vision Pro that is expected to launch this year. With the information from these two highly reliable sources, we're now expecting Apple to launch five new Vision or smart glasses products by the end of 2028. We discuss our thoughts on each of these devices, how they're likely to fit into Apple's lineup, and how customers may respond. In light of Samsung's announcement of the ultra thin Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 this week, we also touch on Apple's foldable ‌iPhone‌ plans.

151: WWDC 2025 Rumors—What Was Right and Wrong?

On this week's episode of The MacRumors Show, we take a rumor report card-style look back at some of the biggest rumors surrounding WWDC 2025, what was predicted correctly, and what missed the mark. Subscribe to The MacRumors Show YouTube channel for more videos One of the more surprising claims ahead of WWDC 2025 was the idea that iOS 26 would bring Stage Manager to iPhoneswith a USB-C port. No such feature was announced. The idea may have stemmed from broader expectations about Apple bringing pro features to more devices—but this prediction turned out to be entirely off-base. Another rumor that didn't pan out involved the long-rumored homeOS platform. A wave of trademark filings hinted Apple might introduce a new smart home operating system. Although the filings were real and still might relate to future products, nothing resembling homeOS or a new smart home hub was mentioned at WWDC 2025. It's a good reminder that trademark activity doesn't always align with event timelines. A few reports landed somewhere in the middle. Jon Prosser's Front Page Tech videos were largely accurate—he correctly revealed many of the iOS 26 Liquid Design changes, such as the floating tab bar and a broader translucent interface. However, his claim that app icons would become circular wasn't correct. Similarly, @MajinBuOfficial made an accurate call about iPadOS 26 adopting a Mac-like menu bar at the top of the screen—a change that did appear. But the leaker's suggestion that this menu bar would only show up when using a Magic Keyboard didn't turn out to be true. Some reports, such as 9to5Mac's predictions that the Messages app would gain pollsand a full-screen album artwork mode for music on the Lock Screen, were also correct. Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman's reporting ahead of WWDC 2025 was comprehensive and overwhelmingly accurate. He revealed the new naming convention for ‌iOS 26‌, ‌iPadOS 26‌, and macOS 26, as well as major design changes like the Liquid Glass aesthetic. He also nailed reports on Mac-like enhancements to iPadOS, expanded Phone and Messages features, and the arrival of new stock apps like Games and Preview on ‌iOS 26‌. Even advanced capabilities like live translation of calls and texts were part of his pre-event reporting. In hindsight, WWDC 2025 was a good year for Apple rumors, especially from reputable sources. But it was also a reminder that not every prediction—no matter how well-sourced—makes it onto Apple's keynote stage. Take control of your finances with Copilot Money. Apple’s AI ambitions hit a major speed bump at WWDC this year. From last-minute delays on Siri features to Mark Gurman’s revelations about internal alarm bells, this episode takes you behind the scenes of Apple’s AI crisis. We’ll break down how Craig Federighi’s hands-on testing exposed critical flaws and why Apple’s lean investment strategy may have backfired. The conversation reveals how internal decisions, such as delaying AI feature rollouts by a full year, signaled a broader leadership disconnect within the company. Federighi’s own tests showed a startling disparity between what was promised and what was actually working. That gap in execution has placed Apple behind rivals like Google and OpenAI. What role does Tim Cook play in this? As the CEO, his direction - or lack thereof - has now come under scrutiny. The podcast unpacks how executive decisions from the top have rippled across departments, affecting everything from product timelines to public trust. Apple's frugal approach, while often seen as financially prudent, may have hindered critical innovation. We also dive into what Apple’s AI roadmap must look like to stay competitive. From launching a working Siri upgrade to developing a true chatbot under the internal codename "Knowledge," Apple needs a foundational reboot in how it views and builds AI experiences. Failure to act swiftly could result in a loss of consumer and developer confidence. Whether you’re a tech enthusiast, Apple watcher, or concerned investor, this episode sheds light on the high-stakes decisions shaping Apple’s future in AI. With clear takeaways and expert insights, it’s your best guide to understanding how Apple can, and must, course-correct.Support the show: http://youtube.com/gearlive/joinSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
