For many elderly folks, a call from a friend or an acquaintance once or twice a week can make a big difference in how they feel. Knowing that someone cares and is there to share stories and laugh with is comforting and meaningful in so many ways. The Volunteer Lethbridge Keep in Touch program connects people in our community with each other through a weekly telephone support system linking seniors to a friendly person with whom to chat and access resource information they may need.   Arguable, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused a major increase in loneliness and mental health issues, especially among seniors, and therefore more demand for programs such as Keep in Touch. The speaker will describe how the Keep in Touch program was developed by Volunteer Lethbridge. After successfully piloting the program in Lethbridge with funding from the COVID-19 Mental Health and Addiction Community Fund, the program is now gaining partners in other Alberta cities and rural communities.   Speaker: Connie-Marie Riedlhuber   Connie Marie is the Keep in Touch Senior's Coordinator with Volunteer Lethbridge. The majority of her career and personal journey has centered around supporting and caring for aging seniors, building healthy families, workplaces, and communities. Be sure to get an intro to Mindfulness with my cheat sheet and bonus audio sample here: http://www.subscribepage.com/w6h6i6 Overview: Lauren Selfridge joins me to discuss the ways that we can more easily navigate health struggles so that we can not only heal ourselves, but to find greater strength and resilience so that we can shine in a life that we celebrate! Lauren Selfridge is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist in San Francisco, California. She works with couples, individuals, and people living with chronic illness. Lauren was diagnosed with Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis in 2015 and has found that, although living with an autoimmune disease is not an easy path, it's brought more joy and fulfillment into her life than before. This January, she launched the podcast, "This Is Not What I Ordered:" a weekly interview show about full-hearted living with chronic illness and health challenges. She believes that the biggest difficulties in our lives are often invitations into a deeper, richer, more conscious relationship with ourselves.  She offers us these tips for getting started in navigating chronic health conditions:    1. Find a therapist or coach who is a good fit for you, and use that relationship to foster your emotional wellbeing alongside your physical care. 2. Allow yourself to feel it all (joy, fear, boredom, delight, loneliness, excitement, hopelessness, and more). Your emotions need to be felt, and they rarely last when we really let ourselves feel them.  3. Give yourself time and space to take breaks from the intensity of what you're going through. Spend time with friends, watch movies, and remember that you don't always have to be putting forth effort in order to make progress. Exploring the missing and the misogynized with a "recovering non-denominational, metaphysical, reverend who likes to walk a little on the wild side of God."  From working to heal the wounds of apartheid in South Africa to reawakening the divine feminine across the globe alongside New Thought leaders such as Dr. Michael Bernard Beckwith and Lisa Nichols of The Secret phenomenon, Rev. Stephanie Clark is breaking stigmas and barriers of all kinds in spirituality. In this podversation: Stephanie's unique invocation Stephanie's early search for her place in this world Is there a place for feminist porn? "To simply rebel against the status quo is a position of powerlessness. Victims are never victors." - Pushing against energy is still giving energy to something. How Stephanie came to live in South Africa, working against apartheid, first by teaching English to empower the impoverished Getting vehement in our asking of the Divine Stephanie's calling to study the Science of Mind and later at the Agape Center with Michael Bernard Beckwith The beginning of the metaphysical movement in black South Africa The missing & the misogynized - Where are the strong feminine archetypes in religious movements, especially Christianity? The twisting of the Adam & Eve story Defining the many facets of feminism in spirituality Additional Resources: "The Female Eunuch" by Germaine Greer Stephanie's book: "The Miss-Adventures of an Irreverent Reverend: A Spirit-ed Guide for Rebels and Renegades"   Meet Rev. Stephanie Clark:   Born in London, England, Stephanie visited her mother in South Africa in 1986 where she had a vision of creating a multi-racial ministry to heal the wounds of Apartheid. She completed her ministerial studies at Agape in Los Angeles. Her teacher was Rev. Dr. Michael Beckwith of “The Secret” fame. In 2000 Rev. Steph founded the metaphysical ministry, Soul Home, in Johannesburg, South Africa and led it successfully until 2005 when she handed it over to her 3 top students. After 10 years away in Europe and Japan, Rev. Steph returned to South Africa in 2015 to take care of her elderly parents. Rev. Steph still speaks at Soul Home once or twice per month but she has branched out as a speaker, author and life-coach, desiring to carry the message of spiritual truth and personal upliftment beyond the walls of church. “God & Sex” was the provocative title of Rev. Steph’s talk at the New Thought conference in Johannesburg in August 2017 - “Birthing the Divine Feminine – from History to HerStory” - with keynote speakers Rev. Dr. Michael Beckwith, and Lisa Nichols – also of “The Secret” fame. Rev. Steph has written 2 books: “Down Dirty and Divine: a spiritual ride through London’s underground” and her autobiography. She is currently writing her 3rd book on “God & Sex” with the working title “The Irreverent Reverend rides again.” Her 4th book on the cult of Isis in Roman Europe is also "in utero." In addition to speaking and writing and de-mythologizing sex and sin, Rev. Steph also facilitates non-denominational sacred ceremonies and spiritual journeys to sacred sites such as the Egyptian pyramids. She is a psychic medium and a reader of the Akashic Records.
